    I think you should compare oberon 1 with spektor 2.

    It would make more sense if Oberon 1 was compared to Zensor 1 or Spektor 2. But we experienced this, thanks to you. As someone who owns Spektor 1 and Spektor 2, I can clearly say that they are more than worth the money...

    There's an interesting contrast between these Dali's, along with some simiilarities, wich I have found are the Dali sound signiture in general. Both share the brands lean and lively voicing, but are a bit different in the details.
    The Spectors treble is slightly less pronounced but more focused and controled, while the Oberons is more pronounced but a bit spitty and less refined. The midrange on the Spector is thinner and spikes too much at the top, then mainly drops down all the way into the upper bass region, (with a bit of an up-spike near 1khz) giving them an unatural and strident charicter to me. The Oberon has a smoother, more natural midrange balance, but also leans out some in the low mids and bass, wich leaves them slightly short of warmth, weight and impact.
    The Spector does rebound a bit in their lowest bass notes giving them some punch, but for me the Oberon is a slightly more balanced and enjoyable speaker.

    Thanks alot E! Have been waiting for a comparison between spektor and oberon.

    Great vid. Spektor really shined on the strings and guitar but I’d give a sight edge to Oberon. Difference in woofer is noticeable. Would love to hear more Dali comps

    Wow quite a difference! I definitely prefer the more forward sound of the Oberon 1s. The whole soundstage seems to sit further back with the Spektor 1s and lacks a bit of focus. Thanks for sharing.

    The Spektor sounds better to me, although I'm not that fond of it either. The Oberon seems like it has pumped up bass and treble, much like the B&Ws, except without the big midrange suckout, but its midrange has a very unnatural grainy quality to it that I find especially annoying, like there's some uncontrolled resonance going on there

    A fairer comparison would be spektor 2 vs oberon 1, both of which have 5.25 woofers

    Curious to learn the benefit of comparing two bookshelf speakers set up 36" apart, a foot off the floor, toed in and and tilted back? Both the Spektors and Oberons are designed /voiced to be pointed forward (pointed well outside the listeners ears) vs crossed (pointed at the listener).
    Tip: Often with small ported speakers, you can tune the port (partially plugging by cutting a thin piece of foam and making a tube in the port) will can help create an in-room holographic 3d image especially when combined with a good subwoofer. Yes, tuning the port helps the speakers image and disappear. Port noise (hooting, even rear ports) include, huffing, resonances and midrange frequencies which serve to locate the speaker.

    To me the Oberons sound quite tilted in the higher mids and top-end, therefore less midrange. This 'appears' more engaging at times, however, the Spektors project a (imo) more balanced sound and a fuller midrange. For some songs the Oberons tilted signature works, but overall I prefer the Spektors 'balance' a bit more in this a/b. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of both though.

    Tonally, I think they're okay but neither sound particularly flat and can sound annoying to different degrees depending on the track. It's going to depend quite a lot on the genres and recordings you like.

    Claramente el Oberon 1 se escucha mejor. En comparación el Spektor 1 se escucha velado y más comprimido; aunque la firma de sonido es similar

    Really....not an easy call 🤔..... Oberon are more "open", however, it is a disadvantage ( for mty ears ) with certain types of music - like heave metal.....
    I've got the Oberon - to see if my "home improvement" of Dali Concept 1 has done the job : better capacitors + moved the bass-port to the back. Comp. to the before sound, now - much better. Will be interesting to compare to Oberon 1....

    Thank you for that really good sound test, for me the Obereon are in a couple of songs so much better. They are clearer and the mid range are better to hear the dif. sounds, but after I see that this thing cost nearly or over 1k€ hahaha damn sry that is way out my price range. But they have a really awsome sound no question!
    After I hear with headphones on the same what I wrote above, but the biggist one was the last with the acustic gitar, taht was like dif. worlds. And would know are both in neutral sound withount any more mids or highs? When not I may see a bit hope that the Spector 1 can maybe sound a bit better and sharper.

    Seeing that the Spektor 1 is only $279 and the 2 is only $399, compared to the $599 price of the Oberon 1, they're looking a little better, but I'd still rather have the Polk XT20 at $249

      They may be cheap but they sound cheap uninspiring ear bleed boxes. Guess will stick with my vintage equipment re-foam, recap and change ferro fluid. Good for another 20-30 yrs.

    The scratches on alot of the Dalis woofers is strange to me . I wonder why they allow it 🤔? I know they make all their own parts but it just looks odd.

    • @34332
      @34332 2 роки тому +2

      I found this on ASR;
      "As soon as I took the grill off, I became concerned about all the "scratches" I thought I was seeing on the woofer. Hoped it was dust so tried to blow them off but they would not come off. Nor did they do so when I gently touched them. Later I read that the material for the cone uses wood fibers and company pictures have the same look. Kind of unsightly and makes the speaker look old so there better be technical benefits to it (core material is paper or wood pulp."
      It seems kinda 'normal'.. 😄

    • @zeppzepp1234
      @zeppzepp1234 2 роки тому +2

    • @RockCity1111
      @RockCity1111 2 роки тому +4

      @@34332 I remember reading about that too. Wood fiber is probably the best material being light and responsive. I guess it's just a natural look.

      And we know that fibers are good for us.
      Still, I don't like the looks, I prefer turbine woofers more. 😄

    • @williammiebach1798
      @williammiebach1798 2 роки тому

      They add it into the cone material because it creates an uneven texture within the cone, wich breaks up standing wave resonance that cause distortion.
      It looks screwy but reduces distortion.
      The turbines are meant to do the same but they're not as healthy as fiber.

    The Dali Spektor are good for those who want less treble than the Oberon.
    Spektor 2 and 6 is an excellent option.
    Since the towers have more bass can leave them with even less treble.
    The good Oberon towers are the Oberon 5 and 7. Because they have more bass and so are less treble and are more balanced.

    Hi all here, can anyone tell me a small digital cheap amplifier to pair with these speakers for my desktop computer setup? I just want 2 things: 1) no hiss from the amp and 2) sound good at very low volumes as it will work 90% of the time. Is there an alternative cheap setup?

    Der Unterschied scheint fast unhörbar zu sein.....
    Die Spektor klingt etwas dumpfer, ganzheitlicher, vielleicht auch natuerlicher bis geschoent, aber, die Oberon hat etwas mehr Dynamik und Impulswiedergabe.
    Subjektives Urteil: 55: 45 fuer die Oberon.....
