The pacing is extremely good for us manwha readers because they are taking their time and they are not rushing and skipping everything like all the other manwha adaptations, the odd cuts must be the result of the adaptation to anime format because for us manwha readers this feels "normal" since most chapters can be read in less than 2 minutes and they still have some kind of cliffhanger and because of that when it comes to anime format they feel odd when they end because unlike manga there isn't an appropiate way to end an episode everyime
carson said they should end it on a conclusive pooint . therers no such point for atleast 4 chapters tho lol

I feel like because of how over-hyped up this series, many people were expecting something to immediately draw them into the show/series, but its definitely going to be a slower burn from the looks of things,
The thing is though, if the first 2 episodes relased as 1 long one, it would be an epic smash introduction that would make the rounds everywhere, kinda like Oshi no Ko, and with this one if it was like 30min long and ended when he finishes the dungeon (or maybe when he starts it?) it would get rid of the annoying cliffhanger (nobody is worried if MC survives). Though I get that if they're following the manhwa closely, Koreans are all about them cliffhangers.
It's not overhyped for me, I read the Manhwa after first two episodes. Totally worth it.

KinDGrove, it is definitely a slower burn, at least for the start of the show, but it does pick up very quickly!
I feel like it's one of those shows that will be better if you binge it instead of watching it weekly, as the beginning of the story is quite slow.
Tbh there just aren't good points where you would end an episode, at least not this early in the story. Also manhwa just love to do cliffhangers like this.
this is the problem with anime community now. we are so used to instant gratifiation that we dont appreciate the buildup. jin woo wont get instanty over powereed . itll be a long journey

I've been perplexed by their choice for every cliffhanger so far. Very strange where they are choosing to end each episode IMO. The adaptation overall has been great so far but that's my major complaint.
If it's because all the cliffhangers seems frustrating then you should know that it will surely be like that everytime. The webtoon is rythmed by those kind of frustrating cliffhangers
Well, at least in the manwha, in this section of the story every single moment is a bad way to end an episode imho.
This dungeon should have been a whole episode by himself, from start to finish.

15:56 in manhwa we didn't have fight with goblins, so they tried to buy as much time as possible to end with the wolf. There should be a lot of action in next episode
They seem to be taking bits from the light novel as well so maybe that had goblins in it.

When people understand the character interactions are in the fights during jjk, do these characters have to sit down and talk about their problems before u get it? Funny I say this cause Culling games will have moments they just chill and talk

Seems to be the opposite problem with previous webtoon adaptations where they cut a lot of stuff to squish everything into 12 episodes, it appears they now instead pad out without noticing that webtoon chapters are not like chapters in Shonen Jump and aren't self-contained.

I appreciate the hell out of the studio for not pulling a God Of Highschool and rushing through it. Many people can’t handle the pacing but it’s a blessing in disguise I promise. While everyone complains I’ll be here with my popcorn knowing this studio will do me right in the end.
If you’re not enjoying the show thus far then I’d suggest dropping it until you can binge.

So far they do seem to be making each episode cover about 4 chapters each, with about 25% of new or extended stuff. Admittedly even back then, the first 10 or so chapters were the worst of the series, and it should only get better from here. Fingers crossed

I was scared when I eard that the 1st season was going to be a 12 episodes. My concern was that they would rush everything instead of building the complex system and characters. They are taking it slow, wich is a good think, I'm agree though cliffhanger aren't always necessary but I think they are trying to stick to the original material. This episode should at least be 3 minutes more then have the cliffhanger... but I can't wait to see him grow!!
I'm very sorry for you being spoiled. But there is a need for show to get to a certain point while getting the info across, so they can't go for a faster pacing so they sometimes will end on akward moments and i guess they decided to make them at least cliffhangers
No, they thought Jin Woo had a 2nd awakening but he is not. He got this so call game system after what happen at the double dungeon temple. But of course there is a case that hunter go through a 2nd awakening, and that make them become stronger than after they gone through 1st awakening, some hunter who a B rank can suddenly climb to A or maybe S, and C rank hunter can climb to B or maybe more higher to A. But that's it, they stuck again at that rank. But Jin Woo is different, and you will know soon😏😋
I can’t believe he didn’t just do the daily quest just to see what would happen I would never after the experience he went through test what a consequence is. Some basic ass strength training too.
Light novel and manhwa are a non-ending streak of cliffhangers too. So... yep, thing is whenever he figures out how to survive something, a lot more things open up.

As a solo leveling manhwa reader i can definitely say that it's not some kind of isekai anime it's totally an op action anime with a very cool storyline and a cool ending..if everything goes well and accordingly to manhwa then I'm sure it's gonna be one of the most top anime.. well but I'm kind of disappointed because i saw some extra scene in episode 3 that not is in manhwa i hope they not change more of it..

Solo Leveling is one of my favorite manhwas but it really doesn't feel like it'll fit the vibe of your channel in the long run. A lot of it is a slow burn as Jin Woo gets stronger. There's a few questions worth discussing like what's the system and what was up with the 2nd dungeon but a lot of it is just watching him grow in strength.
It scratches that mmo power fantasy itch but it's not a deep story where you can really sink your teeth into the lore.
Feel like a lot of people are hyper analysing the cliffhangers in the show, when almost every action show does that, idk but I feel like people are gonna say the same thing about cliffhangers through the whole season since people have already complained how the episodes ended for the last 3 episodes, it’s low key jarring, especially this episode since I feel like it’s more of an exposition episode since they revealed so much info

its because manwha chapters and manga chapters are adapted differently to be an anime, it is hard to adapt a manwha for sometimes each chapters reaches up to 100 pages, unlike a manga that each chapter only contains from15 upto 25 pages, a manga can be adapted 4 manga chapters an episode, while a manwha is much more tricky to adapt per episodes
The manwha was notorious for for leaving cliffhangers for like every episode. So I’m not surprised they’re doing it here.
This anime adaptation feels more like an adaptation for the manhwa readers to enjoy as the manhwa cut out a lot stuff from the novel to prioritise action so once u get to this point in story u literally cannot stop reading as there is an action set peiece every couple of chapters.
Also i started solo leveling when it had around 100 chapters and ongoing so when i caught up and had to wait weekly I didn't enjoy it as much and recently i did a reread it was a much better experience than waiting week to week and it seems you guys are also experiencing the same issue.

i still don't understand what the point of the show us. like, okay, he can level up, and only he levels up now, but what's the story about, though? 4 episodes, and there's no sight of it. i'm not saying he needs to want to become Hokage, but I was more invested in that random guy with the pomp who died in episode 2's story than Jinwoo's.
Cliffhangers are part of the SL formula. Im glad they brought it to the anime. Wouldnt be SL without it.
There are clear homages, especially in the beginning, in this story to manga stories that the author was a fan of such as the One Punch Man exercise routine. Part of what made it fun for readers of especially the webtoon who also watch anime. RIP to the artist which was the foremost reason why Solo Leveling became such a hit in Korea and later elsewhere. The Webtoon panels are ridiculous. So glad they kept his art style. Instead of f*ing up the story and art like they usually do with Korean adaptations done in Japan. AND they got two k-pop groups to do songs for it and if the Opener changes, I hope they keep it up. Love they are showing respect to the original sources instead of just doing a crap job because it was popular. Keeping it in Korea, using their Korean names, so on...
If they do it right the next episode is going to give you the satisfaction you need

They are just cliff hangers gotta deal with them even in the manhwa thier were cliff hangers like i have been following solo leveling from the start every week i had waited for the new manhwa chapters to come out and belive me when i say this these cliff hangers are nothing there are insane cliff hangers yet to come. I was too lazy to read the web novel then thier was a time when they had left the manhwa with an insane cliff hanger and then they were taking weeks sometimes months to release a new chapter due to the manhwa artist were sick.
Tbh i expected the end to be an inner monologue as it was with episode 2 , first the doubts and then remembering the statue and comparing it to those little creatures and grinding as crazy. Maybe at the last seconds feeling the presence of the boss etc. Would be awesome but this is kinda lame imo

Mixed feelings about the adaptation. The original manhwa is a must read though, the art is gorgeous with all these intricately drawn long panels depicting a whole battle scene, especially later in the series.

The question of “is the MAIN CHARACTER gonna make it out alive? tune in next week to find out!” Is not an effective hook.
They should leave it on a better question, like when the audience is about to learn something interesting, or some other form of tension.

This story is the definition of power fantasy. There's not really anything deep that you can extract from it. It's just turn off your brain show and enjoy the spectacle. Like one punch man. I like it. It gets better and better if you consume it like this.

Wtf these guys on about? They doing an amazing job with ending and cliffhangers leaving 3 weeks of people wanting more. 3 weeks of hype going into 4th week now, and they left it off perfectly at every episode and actually explaining into context. They did this episode perfectly leaving off right here, going into the next episode which is gonna be crazy.
