The arm that is attached to the frame should be at 90 degrees for this type of mount. I suspect that you didn't measure anything according to the directions in the box. The distance from the center of the hinge pin to the first hole of the closer and subsequently to the first hole of the shoe is specific and if not correct can make the door not open fully, open too much or take too much force to open the door. Also the distance of the closer to the top of the door is quite specific so the arm doesn't hit the door.
Hey Jim, my main door of the house is quite heavy and we have installed a door closer on it. We have also installed a door magnet as a future possibility of keeping the door in open position. But with door closer, the door magnet is not able to hold the door. Any suggestions for installation?
@@monalisadas6919 If the magnet is installed correctly it should hold the door in the open position. However you could install a "hold open" door closer arm on the existing door closer instead of the magnet. That would be a better solution unless the magnet is tied into a fire alarm and releases to shut the door electrically.
;) it just doesnt work upside down, it hits the side of the hydraulic system... p.s. a lot of systems have regulatory arms where you would not run into problem like yours: example image: 4.imimg.com/data4/VE/YV/MY-3634223/door-closure-500x500.jpg
I am sorry to say this is not the proper way to do that. You mentioned the catalogue that came in the box and it shows the installation for left and right sided doors. You simply need to use the drawing to mark where to fix the 6 bolts. In your way a lot of adjust will be needed and most probably will not work, but using the catalogue no adjust will be needed.
You can usually adjust the power spring on the end of the closer counterclockwise to make the door easier to open. Some inexpensive closers do not have this adjustment.
According to the manual adjusting the screw on the side will get it done. But in my experience, you should remove the nut that holds the door to the mechanism. Then close the door. Wait for sometime to let the spring inside the mechanism fully unwind. Then attach it back to the door.
That is incorrect. If the door closer has a power adjustment (some cheaper ones do not) then it is a spring tension screw located on the opposite end to the sweep and latch adjustment screws on these imports.
I know this reply is old but these models with the offset pivot on the main housing all, even to this day, are difficult to open. The angles have little to no effect. The ones currently on Amazon are also difficult to open. EVEN WHEN YOU USE THE ENCLOSED TEMPLATE TO DRILL THE HOLES AND MOUNT THE BRACKET AND BODY IT WILL STILL BE HARD TO OPEN. If anyone reads this my advise is to spend a few more dollars and get one from Grainger or a model that Grainger sells. It's just a piss poor design. Shame because the material/metal is quality stuff.
In the door closer assembly the part which is installed on the frame..it should be of Aluminium or wood..? k it can also be applied on the wall diectly..?
The closer arm needs to be connected to the body in a position that is diagonal from the body instead of perpendicular. So that when you connect the closer arm to the door frame, you have to fight the spring tension of the arm a little bit to get it to screw into the door frame. Once it's connected, the arm should be almost perpendicular to the door. I use this description to make it easier to understand that you're putting load on the arm so that it has pressure even when the door is closed. You are connecting the arm to the body in an offset position, then winding it only a bit, then you screw it to the door frame with that resistance. I use the adjustment screw on the arm by loosening it, extending the arm, screwing the arm into the frame, push the elbow of the arm until it is mostly perpendicular to the door in the closed position, then tightening the adjustment screw down so that the arm doesn't extend when i let go of it. The goal is to have a door that shuts and latches entirely, rather than the door that closes almost all of the way until the arm relaxes and it stays cracked open.
just use a metal drill bit they are really cheap dude, its exactly like drilling wood or concrete, maybe you just need to go slightly slower and not press alot.
You clearly don't do this for a living, by not putting a pre load on the arm you loose your proper Las couple of inches of power, remove the arm from the closer, rotate the arm parallel to the door, take a wrench on the bottom of the closer and turn it to put a little bit of a load on the arm , by have the arm pointing out will some what work except for the last few inches.

Very basic the guy has no clue about it & 99 percent door closer user do not see the manual which confirms the 90 degree angle !
Appreciate it smart guys...maybe yall can come out with videos on how to put doors in.

Thanks so much and before watching this video was a nightmare and I couldnt install it by myself & now I fixed it; it also works well
It can be use both side ? Right and left door?
The arm attached to the door frame should be perpendicular to it for maximum efficiency.
Excellent pace on video. Concise narration. Exactly what I needed. Thank you, from new home owner.
Does it work as a stopper too?
Very helpful, Thank you !
Ok
Good
thanks for also sharing the common mistake.

How to keep the door opened for the daytime?
very helpful , tnx !🔩🔧🔨
This is extremely superb
1:45... you also placed the hinge upside down.
It was because of the space constraint. But thanks for noticing.

Tx. U saved me money and my marriage. We could not figure the thing out. One view and it was sorted
Ha ha ha!!
You’ve got bigger problems if a self closing door tutorial saved your marriage...
Can it be installed vertically? To a door that opens 180 degrees from top to bottom?
Nope
Is it supposed to be a door closer or can it work alternatively. That's stopping the door from closing automatically
After fixing , the door is so stiff. Any adjustments
Well done instructional video
Thank you
We learned from you sir.Thanks.
Thanks very useful
Can it be installed on the opposite side of the door?
It has to always be installed on whatever side the henges are....
thank you!
Than.kyou very much..
This guy teaching how to put door closer doesnt know how to put door closer the right way. But it works.
Does it also require lubrication?

Merci👍

I did not have to adjust. It worked by itself
ouuuu I see ... my worker put the door closer in the wrong side ... LOL.... Nice video Ty!!
Nice
What is price
Let's say i want to lighten the force required to open the door (inward pull, hinge on the right). Do i move the machine towards the hinge or what?

Thank you very
What happens if we push the door hardly while closing
How much it
how can we adjust the pressure while opening the door... I I have the same (royal) I feel very hard to open the door...please reply me

How to adjust speed
Attention! The 90 degree angle is incorrect! Such an angle should not be at the lever, but at the thrust!
Thank you for the information
while opening my door, arms are coming little down and toching door...i think something is wrong...how can i repair it..??
Thanks

How to drill into metal frame? Thanks
You can use HSS drill bits. That can drill into metal frames.
just use a metal drill bit they are really cheap dude, its exactly like drilling wood or concrete, maybe you just need to go slightly slower and not press alot.
Do I need to insert wood/plastic plugs into the metal hole? or just directly screw in the screw into the metal hole?
What if I directly screw in the screw and the screw seems quite loose?
There are self tapping screws for metal work. You can use them to screw in directly to metal.
Yes I dont. Figured it out as I went. Can you make a video and show me?
Kalaakaar // Custom Fabrication Channel you betcha
Good idea
