  • DIY installation of a 1500 gallon 2 compartment septic tank with 300ft of EZ flow drainage for our self build, off-grid post frame barndominium. This whole project took about 2 weeks to complete doing it all myself with other jobs in between. We had a 590 Deer Excavator rented for a different project and were able to use it to dig the tank hole, and we used our Sany Excavator for the drain field and trench going to the house pad. After covering the lines with a layer of dirt using a hand shovel, I finished covering the trenches with our New Holland C337 track loader. We passed our final septic inspection and the system is officially ready for use!

@@dmb07anf depending on where you’re located shipping may be expensive, but we’re in OR and got our septic tank and EZ flow from Bend WinSupply. Good luck with your project!

Good video. You explained the septic install process well. Bedding in those pipes is so important. The leach field design with those EZ Flow pipes wouldn't work for us in Ohio. Good luck with your build.

It pains me to see you not use the blade on the excavator or the bucket on the skid steer to not fill the trenches! Otherwise, awesome video - I am getting ready to do a very similar install, though fortuneately have no where near the drainfield length you do. I can only imagine how much that stuff cost. Just the EZflow for my drainfield is $3k.

Hey there! Thanks for the feedback! It's difficult to tell in the video, but our soil has some larger rocks and I was being extra cautious to not damage the pipes or drain field (heard too many horror stories). We paid $6/ft for the EZ flow in Central Oregon and have about $6500 into the whole set up. Good luck with your install, hope it goes well!

@@Grateful-OffGrid holy cow! I'd have killed have that price! I'm in North Central WA and the best I could find was nearly $17/ft!

Dang!! That is pretty expensive... hopefully it lasts a lifetime and no repairs are needed in the future! Have you already purchased what you need? Might be worth the trip down here!
