THIS is excellent Jay! I asked the Daz developers for this feature a number of months ago in the suggestions forum. I am wondering if this will still work if you put a colorized lattice type mesh transparency texture image on the emitter plane? The applications of this feature are far reaching. Your explanation of this process is very thorough, thank you! 👍
Wow! I had serious problems with the damned fireflies being visible on the surface of the ghost lights in 4.20. Thanks so much for making this vid, you rock!
You can either use File - Merge and import any duf file into the current scene, or copy it to a directory that's mapped as part of your content library.
This is a great tutorial, however as of the time of this comment, I cant download the script files mentioned from the website link provided in the comment. I also run daz 4.21.0.5 any help plz?
Every time they update, they break the lighting, so my old scenes no longer look the same, and so I have to rerender the entire game again, so everything is consistent. I won't update it again, until I finish my game, even if that is 5 years from now. This is insane.
I had the same issue but DAZ is now in the latest version shipping them by default. You can find them in your Content directory > Scripts > Utilities. It's called "Create Advanced Iray Properties".
@@WPguru Just tried in version 4.21.0.5 pro, not the beta, the main script Add Iray Visible to Primary Rays Property.dse works well (be aware to put the Cutout Opacity back to 1), but the mirror one Add Iray Ghost Light Factor Property.dse doesn't work, double click it, reports error and nothing added, that's it.
It's a fix. A lot of steps but if you save as a subset you can just pull those lights up at whim and place accordingly. No t perfect but much btr. Thx. One click script would be great.

Thank you Mr James Cameron
Fantastic. I didn't realise reflections were a problem, though I knew about the visible to primary rays property. I'll read his post then!
How did i miss you? Oh well - Great Video, Jay!
Awesome stuff, cheers Jay
Thanks, Jay!
nice video, as always, and really helpful tool to have specially if you are working with reflective surfaces
iray ghost light factor is showing error
I did everything you explained in this tutorial, including setting the refraction values to 1.00, but the ghost light is still visible through glass.
Excuse my ignorance but how do I put the duf file into my content library?

I thought we can do this with render emitter, can't we?

Is there any more news on this?
Do you still have a copy of those scripts? The author removed the scripts from his post!
I can see all scripts attached to the first post in that thread. I can download them just fine.

Does this work only on 4.21 and above or might work even with previous versions?
Yes 4.21.1.26 and above, this is a change in Iray so previous versions of Daz Studio won't support this feature.

it's not user friendly if you need run a script for that in the next update... for me.
Thx for the video.
It won't let me download anything friend.
What do you want to download?
