I'm still super impressed with how good this mic is for the price!
Obviously its not perfect but for a beginner mic it's a no brainer!
This mic is incredible! I also have the shure sm7b, I put the close talk bigger sm7b windscreen on it and it’s amazing. Get it!
Oh I think I got this with the SM7B! Never tried it. However I may be possibly switching out to a Lewitt soon 😀. Thanks for letting me know
@@ColinHornDid you end up getting a Lewitt? Condensers are a bit different.
@@djtoman6875 Not yet sadly. New studio build is coming first more so than anything. Then when I can afford it, I shall be upgrading to it :)
What is the make and model of the device you connected the XLR interface to when testing? Thanks for the review!
I have this plugged into the Rodecaster Duo. HIGHLY recommend. Video coming out on it in the next couple of months
what do u think is better, like this or k688? or if there is like a noticeable or major difference even. good review btw
Honestly in my experience with both mics, there's not a lot between them. Mostly aesthetics if anything.
The K688 definitely has the more professional audio look to it over the AM8 and is less bulky. But the sound in both is pretty much the exact same
Whats with the static happening? Is that just a software issue?
Is this your own model or within the video?
If there's a slight static in the video it'll of been from the normalisation of the audio if I've recorded it too low.
@@ColinHorn within the video
Yeah that'll just be the audio boost from the video edit as it's on the SM7B too.
Mic sounds solid for a budget mic. Thanks for the review!
Yo Man, thought you would have 30K subs+ but when i saw 960, I was shocked, good work.
Thanks very much!
no lie the am8 fifine sounds better than your 400 mic i am buying the am8 i am switch from my elgato wave 3 mic because the software been causing issues for me
Definitely it is a heavy hitter! But when EQ'd the SM7B wins outright. My examples are using just a flat out of the box recording.
I'd recommend getting a better windshield or adding a pop filter to the AM8 to get the best out of it! Although check me second latest video, reviewed what I'd be picking over the AM8 at a cheaper price 😉
The quality of this video though! 🔥🔥
dammmm i honestly wasnt expecting 1k subs you deserve way more
Thanks so much! Only just hit the 1k, but more videos coming soon!
Will you do a tutorial about your setup? Its amazing this was very helpful just bought my fifine am8.
You can check out some basic tutorial videos on our official channel! Like this one of setting up AM8 in USB mode. Or if you have any specific questions, just comment down below here, we will also reply!
I shall be doing a full studio tour. However will do a full breakdown of my studio setup.
What aspects are you looking for in terms of tutorial? Mixer? Audio software? OBS?
Why does my fifine am8 sound so quiet? does it need a software? or what?
Are you using it as an XLR or USB input? You may need to increase the volume of the mic in the windows sound settings if it's USB and not XLR, if it's XLR, make sure that you're not sending phantom power down to it and have it setup as a dynamic microphone.
No no need of software, have you tried testing out with the dial set to maximum, speaking distance within 5 inches, and another USB cable?
Does it pick up background noise? Like a fan.
As a dynamic mic it won't cut out every sound. However it does have a good sense of directional input so a fan in the background won't be very noisy at all. My friend uses this with his full AC unit on. And we never hear it
Sorry we're afraid that even though it's a not-sensitive dynamic mic, it still picks up some background, just not as obvious as you get from a condenser one.
hi is it true that the white version is an upgrade to the black am8? Also can you connect both usbc and xlr at the same time and have the xlr quality of sound
I'm not entirely sure if it's an upgrade. I wasn't specifically told by FiFine that there was a difference between the two colours. You could use both yes as you can use the USB-C for powering the RGB while in your computer setup you can select the input to be the audio interface you have for the XLR.
@@ColinHorn thx 4 answering, would the mute button still work? Also do yk if the k668 for the same price is better for streaming and content
@@fierybl4de400 I will check the functionality for the mute button later today for you.
And in terms of differences between this and the K668 for audio quality, there's not too much. My other half uses the K668 for streaming. It is less clunky and does look a bit more elegant in a setup for sure.
@@ColinHorn thanks alot bro, ig ill focus on the asthetics then, thanks
@@ColinHorn thanks alot man, also one person had mentioned to me that the am8 picks up notceable amount of background noise compared to the k668, is this true?
Nice vid! Always enjoy your video :) Happy to know that you like the mic. It fits your setup perfectly.
You're right, due to the construction of the mic, it picks up the noise when you tap it. We're also looking for solutions to reduce such popping sounds. Will work on it!
The boom arm that comes with the AM8T is a standard one. We also have some nicer boom arms, like the low-profile BM88. Welcome to try it out if you're interested :)
