I actually really really like the word scramble challenge from Pearl Islands. :( Word scrambles are a lot harder while stressed/dehydrated as is, and the fact so many keep getting disqualified / the Burton mixup made it MORE exciting. As an addition to this video, maybe make a Top 5 or Top 3 Lamest Final Immunity Challenges. Number 1 should be Philippines where they had to balance a ball on a stick, a stupid carnival game that cost Malcolm the win. I think it was used in one other season, but I can't remember which one. And that same challenge was done in the finale of Survivor South Africa S7, but it was even worse, because they were on the shore of the beach and it was incredibly windy, so the wind blowing your ball off the stick would literally kill your game. Absolute stupidity. Final challenges should be epic feats of endurance and wits, forcing players to pull out everything they have left in the tank to EARN their spot at final tribal. Like those massive maze obstacle courses from S22 and S23. Even the final challenge in Winners At War was pathetic, I like the Simmotion challenge, but it should never be a final immunity challenge. These were WINNERS AT WAR, and it came down to a damn carnival game. Extremely disappointing.
The other one you're probably thinking about is Season 16: Fan vs Favorites Micronesia. I remember it cause Cirie was a nurse and said as a nurse you had to have steady hands to do the operations and stuff like that, and she ended up losing the challenge
With the flag challenge me and my family would always play it during road trips or when we were bored. Basically the same thing except you count up in numbers and there can be more than just 2 people. Whoever lands on 21 is out and it does until 1 person is left. I’m a 2 person game the advantage is for the person who goes second from the get go. All you have to do is say a multiple of 4 as your final number on your turn (or say 21-5=16 as your final number. Basically your goal -5). For example, player 1 goes 1st, and takes 2 flags out of 21. Player 2 has won the game. Player 2 can take another 2 flags; 4/21. No matter what number of flags player 1 takes they will never land on a multiple of 4 as long as player 2 keeps their final number as a multiple of 4. The team going second will always have the advantage, as long as you know how to play it. This challenge is very visually uninteresting on survivor, but it could’ve been so much better if it was an individual challenge (for reward because it’s not exciting enough to be for immunity) and had player elimination each round where they each go up and take an amount of flags out of 20 from 1-3 and whoever has no flags to take is out. This could be good because say person A has 2 flags left. Person A could take both flags, effectively eliminating person B (the next player) from the game. However, if person A and B where both friends/allies, person A could take 1 flag, person B could take the final flag, and person C would be eliminated with no flags to take. It would obviously display who is working together and who isn’t (maybe).
At least the kite challenge has an excuse for being lame, it was thrown together last minute since a lot of the challenge budget was spent on the original incarnation of Survivor’s 4th season, though sadly real world events would keep it from happening. The HHH rock challenge is just lazy
I've never even seen the season with the 21 Flags challenge _or_ heard about it beforehand, and I'm still mad about it. What kind of bonehead would design a challenge that's a 100% guaranteed victory for one side if they figure out an incredibly simple strategy? Were they trying to rig the game or something?
Survivor challenges are the least suspenseful and most predictable aspect of the show. It”s almost always an arbitrary obstacle course that doesn’t require skill, depth perception or dexterity, followed by a puzzle. They really need to raise The standards and get creative.
I can forgive the Pearl Islands boggle game for being a little lame given it was suggested by a 14-year-old fan (as said in the reunion) and was likely greenlit because of how cheap it was compared to the big set pieces that season. That said... Probably should not have been an immunity challenge.
Yeah a rock draw is pretty boring for a loved ones challenge, but I think they probably just wanted everyone to actually have a fair chance at winning. And I guess they were trying to make it like a "spiritual connection" kind of thing or something lol idk they definitely could've gotten more creative with it
I actually disagree with the first one. Mental tests are more than just your average puzzle. Idk I actually kinda liked that one. And for the record I would've kiIIed that challenge lmao
Jeff needs to stop holding Buddha by his head. It's actually really disrespectful, especially in Thailand. I wish someone on the crew had done at least a small amount of cultural research, not just for aesthetic purposes 😩😂
I think the word puzzle is actually a good idea! But maybe instead of it being like 20 random words, have it be first to get 6 words with 6 or more letters or something...
the kite challenge only existed because season 4 was set to film in the middle east, but after 9/11 production decided to move to marquesas. they had barley any time to make challenges, the challenges and tribal council area was thrown together by locals and schoolchildren.
I think the reason Jeff didn't show up to the Ebola toss in One World or the Boche Ball challenge in Samoa is because I believe he was in the US attending some award show, so they had to do an easy challenge you could do without a host and we got those.
Overall it's not a bad challenge but the putting balls in a maze and then catching them as the final immunity challenge I feel is really lame especially since they've done it sooo many times now
THANK YOU for teaching this 21 poles strategy! Had this challenge in survior ORGs like 4 times, one only 1... googled strategy but all explanations were too hard for my stupid brain :)
It's called recursion. You win if you draw the last flag. If you can draw up to 3 flags: 1 left: Draw 1, you win, opponent loses 2 left: Draw 2, you win, opponent loses 3 left: Draw 3: you win, opponent loses 4 left: Draw 1, 2 or 3: There will be 3, 2, or 1 left. 3, 2, or 1 left for your opponent means THEY win, and you lose. This also means that if your opponent starts with 4, they LOSE. 5 left: Follow the recursion. Draw 1, 4 left; you win 6 left; Draw 2, 4 left, you win 7 left: Draw 3, 4 left, you win 8 left: Same reasoning as 4: There will be 7, 6, or 5 left, which we have established is a loss for you 9 left: Continue the sequence

I remember it cause Cirie was a nurse and said as a nurse you had to have steady hands to do the operations and stuff like that, and she ended up losing the challenge
can you do an espidoe on the history of survivor med evacs?
The HvHvH rock drawl was horrendous, the only excuse was that they either A. Budget cuts. Or B. Didn’t want people throwing the challenge.
Does anyone know if Lil is still alive?
I always hated those old challenges where they would have to build something and judges would come to determine a winner.
And I guess they were trying to make it like a "spiritual connection" kind of thing or something lol idk they definitely could've gotten more creative with it
I actually love that word challenge. I'd win that one. Lol
When those "DIY" challenges crop up, like the Ebola one, I always assume it's because Jeff is sick. 😂😂
Watching seasons in order. I came just for the flag challenge. Like putting immunity up on tic tac toe or rock paper scissors. So dumb.
Wonder what that word scramble challenge would be like in future seasons with Canadian contestants. "This words wrong, color, not colour"
The rock draw one would have been better if both people could choose the rock without the other one knowing and hopefully they pick the same one
Overall it's not a bad challenge but the putting balls in a maze and then catching them as the final immunity challenge I feel is really lame especially since they've done it sooo many times now
bruh i would’ve dominated the word scramble
I really liked the kite challenge though
Dude number 4 is literally ladder golf. I’ve played that in my back yard
"The Miami Connection of Survivor challenges" I am DEAD. 🤣
I totally forgot that they played Testicle Toss in One World!!!!! xD
Queen Chrissy ❤
I like kites
yay another upload! thank you, loving the content!
THANK YOU for teaching this 21 poles strategy! Had this challenge in survior ORGs like 4 times, one only 1... googled strategy but all explanations were too hard for my stupid brain :)
It's called recursion. You win if you draw the last flag. If you can draw up to 3 flags:
1 left: Draw 1, you win, opponent loses
2 left: Draw 2, you win, opponent loses
3 left: Draw 3: you win, opponent loses
4 left: Draw 1, 2 or 3: There will be 3, 2, or 1 left. 3, 2, or 1 left for your opponent means THEY win, and you lose.
This also means that if your opponent starts with 4, they LOSE.
5 left: Follow the recursion. Draw 1, 4 left; you win
6 left; Draw 2, 4 left, you win
7 left: Draw 3, 4 left, you win
8 left: Same reasoning as 4: There will be 7, 6, or 5 left, which we have established is a loss for you
9 left: Continue the sequence
When Chrissy said that I wanted to see what happened if I upset her 😂
