I picked up a Samsung s23 ultra to use as my main phone and was so disappointed by audio. I feel a lot happier going back to the amazing audio LG v60. ESS sabre quad dac, 3.5mm headphone socket, APTX, SD card slot, removable second screen. A fantastic bit of kit even in 2023.
How is the audio recording quality in video? Is it also better than Samsung s23 ultra? How well does it do in this regard compared to today's phones? Years ago, I had a refurbished LG V10 and loved it! It had in-video audio recording options that I don't know of other phones having, like zoom microphone etc. I'm guessing the V60 is even more awesome!
@@edisiljakviolin The V60 has 4 microphones. Audio is stellar. It comes with a great HD audio app recorder as well. When my Mother was in the hospital I recorded the doctors talking and it sounded like they were right there
@@TheAgentAssassinThanks for the comment. I found the audio from the recorder app to be great indeed, but not so much from the video app. I think there are newer phones that perform better in this department, I'd be happy to know which ones exactly (new iPhones for sure) as my use is for recording classical music clips(violin) for Instagram etc. Any thoughts on the best phone in this regard is highly appreciated!
@@edisiljakviolin Did you try manual video mode? In the options try 4k/60fps, Set the bit rate to high, turn on hi-fi setting, then while on the phone video screen tap the hi-fi button, you can control the gain db+/-, LCF to 150hz, LMT, also try turning on HDR+10. Manual video is the way to go. If you're into recording music video then perhaps invest in an external mic.
Just retired the V30 served me well for 6.5 years. Well built. Loved the audio added an external amp for maximizing with planar headphones. Renewed V60 just arrived! Very happy sticking with LG.
I'm having the same problem my v30 is dieing now the battery is struggling and I don't know what phone to get my friend says v60 is old and I should just give in to a new phone but i love the v30 features so thinking of a v60
Almost got rid of my v60 when charging port issues popped up, months later the issies fixed itself. While it's not my daily driver, it's my back up if anything should happen to my One Plus Open. Im still a LG fan boy at heart.... I honestly still loke the v60 more then my open 🤷.
@@kamrulhassan7185 I honestly have no clue, it wouldn't charge unless I place it in the weirdest position sometimes not at all. I even tried switching charges but nothing worked, I powered it down and put it away. Then months later I had to transfer some photos and BAM, no more charging issues.
Some of the reasons you've listed to have the LG V60 are the same reasons I'm holding onto my Galaxy Note 9, my GN9 offers more hardware than today's flagships... headphone jack, SD card, stereo speakers (I know flagships have this today but not with a headphone jack). My only wish is that the GN9 was a tad smaller, 6.4 inch display is pretty big and to think today's flagships are breaking into 7 inch displays. 😯 Nice video 🤠
Been rocking this since launch date. Few other things to add... 1. Its tough as hell. Spent a night at the bottom of a swimming pool and was totally fine. 2. Anecdotally I have been waiting on ubers with other friends who could not get a connection (same T-Mobile network) while I had 5g and no issues. Happens more often than not tbh. 3. Battery life is fantastic, on super saver mode, it revives the phone at 5% battery life for like 3 hours. 4. Never used Quad DAC until I finally made a playlist with lossless audio and a sennheiser headseat with > 120 ohms. That was it.... wow. Normally quad DAC is not worth it with normal Mp3s. 5. Dual screen is a gimmick but really for gaming it rocks. Get a bluetooth gaming controller for some great fun times. 6. It supports up to 2 TB, yes terabytes of SD card support! What?! 7. Speakers are truly ridic... agree 8. Download some third party camera apps to make most use of the one weakness which is the camera. I'm using OpenCamera which is good. The stock app is goo too, practice using the manual mode for some great shots.
I just upgraded my V60 to a pixel 8 pro. Honestly I really can't tell much of a difference. The camera on the pixel is a little better but not a whole lot better. Only reason I upgraded was because the V60 camera had some blue spots on photos and the pixel 8 pro has 7 years of os updates. I just recently replaced the camera on the V60 and I'm going to hold on to it for awhile. I sure miss the expandable storage and aux port
So weird Just got Mine back!! After 2 Years! Went to Europe Replace New Phones for My Mom in Poland! And Got My V60 Back!! I'm Looking for Second Screen on Ebay! Was My Mom second Phone So it's still perfect With Good Battery!! Will Make my Review soon! Love it!! Its last LG 5G Phone! So, it's a keeper!
The unique intangibles this phone possesses makes it difficult to move on from. The DAC, expandable storage, and Manual Camera versatility are nearly impossible to replicate and replace without having to buy extras. For example, I can get a type c 3.5 DAC adapter and a Type c SD card adapter for my other devices but it's a hassle. I'd much rather have a DAC than a high refresh rate that doesn't really add much utility. The ability to capture in RAW in combination with the manual camera controls is still industry leading. Devices are just now catching on. LG was so ahead it's wild
The only problem I'm having now is some of the in house LG apps are not working that good anymore. The clock timers sometimes just freezes. When I try to add new contacts sometimes it says "app crashed". Also the LH health app is pretty much dead now.
I've had this on my v40 with adding contacts...no matter how I tried ....would close and crash. I found on the Verizon forum to delete Verizon cloud app then i was able to add contacts. Obviously I'm on Verizon.
I miss my V60 but had to give it up because of no more security updates and weak battery. Along with worn out charge port. But I can say for a fact that it was better than this Pixel 8 Pro which freezes up 3 or 4 times a day. Sure wish LG had stayed in the biz.
