  • In this video, we will design an RCC corbel concerning real field reinforcement visualization. In addition, we will analyze it in structural analysis programs like SAP2000 and find out possible loads for which corbel is to be designed.

    Thank you for your great explanation. I have a lot of incomplete information about how to design corbels but yours is very concise and clear. I just have now to adopt this example to the Eurocodes. Thank you again.

    The beam or girder across the corbels due to cambering may not sit properly on the bearing pad and hence not uniformly spreading the vertical force on the corbel. Is there a need to introduce elastomeric pad? Remember the gap may be tapering. OR leveling grout to fil the gap?

    According to ductile detailing 13920 code confinement zone stirrups are at 100mm distance but i have one doubt "does precast structures having corbel column and beam joint have same confinement zone..???"

    The allowable shear at interface of corbel and column is taken only as the concrete shear strength. What about the contribution of the steel bars?

    The minimum shear reinforcement is 785.4 mm^2 but the area of shear reinforcement you have provided is a just 226.19 mm^2. What's going on here? Does the shear reinforcement we provide not have to meet the minimum shear reinforcement requirement?

    Dear sir, at the end 24:50 , about the typical detailing of corbel.
    Do you know where the requirement of 1000mm2/m compression bars come from?

    Sir is this design purely based on is:456 or Bs:8110 or ...Is it cross breed of is;456 and Bs:8110

    Hello sir
    Can u pls tell me how to put girder load on beam n design the beam? It's supposed given as 5 tons...how do I apply on beam,is it point load

    in the year 2022 you are still taking 415 steel and saying that its field reinforcement practices 🙄

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  Рік тому

      If you see the IS code, for shear, Fe415 is still the only option provided.

      @@civilconst because of one table IS CODE doesnt mean it is field practice. code is just 23 years old paper print..
      everyone knows if WE go to shop we can see only 500 and 550 everywhere

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  Рік тому

      @@kromatism Firstly, various amendments of IS 456 are available online. However, the provision of Fe415 for shear rebars has not been amended yet. This is because it would lead to many a times cracking of bars at the 90' bend which makes them ineffective in resisting shear. And using Fe 500 for both purposes by the contractor is due to their easiness. Anyway, you can use Fe500D and Fe550D bars in stirrups by designing them as Fe415 for shear.

      @@civilconst i am not saying about the code contents..
      i just said the title you have mentioned as field practise but your content is still theoristical and book contents not field practise..

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  Рік тому

      @@kromatism Oh so sorry for that. Never knew that just using Fe415 makes the whole design practice theoretical. Thanks for the feedback.
