Fantastic machines! French manufactured Pathephones are some of the nicest gramophones ever made. Cabinet work is often of exquisite quality & design, and they were ahead of their time for sound quality. I was very pleased to see the Phrynis disc machine too. I once saw some advertising for one but have never seen or heard the real thing before. Their cylinder products appear more often. I was quite surprised by it's sound quality, although I'm guessing it would be harsh on records. Thanks
0:30 - the coffin holding the dog's DEAD master ! Victor was claiming that the dog would be convinced by the fidelity of the recording the man cut while alive, that his master was still alive.

@EmmetEarwax that is a myth people have been saying for ages, the dog is just sitting on a tabletop!
look at the original canvas painting it looks more like a table to me
