I love the arrow. he is really a good professor. anybody can understand the contour made by his expensive arrow to locate associated stuff that make the window move. What a nice demo. I repaired windows of 23 cars after learning from his lectures. thank you. if any body did not understand you got to check up your brain with a doctor to change some parts malfunctioning in it.
he is simply super in making difficult things simpler. most of the teaching job is done by his expensive arrow. i wish i own one to give it to my teacher in my institution (he also teaches car repair course but uses his pointing finger) . i wonder whether he would like to sell it to me.

Well that's right, I still don't know how it works; I guess that the motor has a cable attached to it that winds around some sort of cam that slides the window mount and attached window up and down the rail but, I didn't find that out from this video and I don't live in Texas nor am I going to visit Texas either so I'm screwed I guess.

Agreed....and they also make it sound SOOOO complicated to do anything.
In the Toyota I had, the *algorithm* to reprogram the window was literally: roll it all the way down, roll it all the way up, roll it all the way down, roll it back all the way up. It's in the owner's manual for crying out loud.
Also: still trying to find out exactly what that window regulator does...

@@r4ptorbunny593 what the trashh man, optical drives for computers use just a power switch at the end of the travel to stop the power going to the motor, or why cant they just put a weight sensor that stop the power at the minimum increase of resistance. My peugeot window if you put your hand there it can harm somewhat seriously, those system have very strong torque.

i really don't get into saying negative things to people on the internet, but I will comment on this. The title for this video is: "How car window regulators work." However, a more appropriate title might be: "Do business with our company." I really am working on a car window regulator currently and clicked on this video expecting to learn something. Instead, you just basically told me I can't do it myself, so I must come to your "garage" to have work done. Re-title this or put something else up that is educational.

i thought it was educational for a person who knows half the info being able to see it from this angle and having him explain to me the common issue helped me conclude that i should focus on my regulators performance although the motor works i may be able to fix this and not spend 80 dollars on a new entire set up . i feel the video may not be for idiots or beginners with no common sense because im a beginner and now because of this video i was able to see how it works you cant see through the door in a car you own so basically the video is legit and he is entitled to advertise himself its called grinding in the hood only hustlers respect a hustler dont be an anal piece of shit and take the info with a grain of rice. its like these kids grow up learn how to have a voice but then misuse the power of their voice because they're so eager to show the world hey "im observant now" but guess what you're not experienced thats why its best to keep your negativity to yourself until your mind grows enough to make better assumptions in life and progress as an adult please grow up and dont allow your petty immaturity to get the best of you . think before you speak use the info you've probably ignored your whole life because you dont like being told what to do mr i have a voice come on bro you figured out how to speak properly and now you think you can attack someones dedication he didn't have to do this video and maybe if there were more morons in this world like you nobody would have made the video and everyone would be oblivious to window regulators.

Funny how you make this seem so complicated. If i listened to your tutorial on changing
the sand in my cat box I would probably be terrified of the difficulty in doing it.
Would I have to re-initialize the box after dumping the old sand? I'm not sure where the shit sensor is.

    • @christophercrawford2736
      @christophercrawford2736 8 років тому

You do have to reinitialize it on some cars. Like my Nissan 350z. What happens if you don't is that it'll roll up all the way to the top, not knowing where the top is, hit the top thinking its some obstruction, and roll halfway back down.

At first I was thinking cmon man you couldve animated the arrow. Then I was thinking how amateur the fishing-rod like pole was with bits of tape here and there. However I got past that and was giving the guy credit in actually holding the rod quite firmly and not shaking all over the place. As I settled in and started watching more, it was when the actual arrow head moved diagonally on the end of the rod that really won me over. How brilliant I thought, top marks bro, awesum! Rod controlled up and down operation, aha, that explains the taped pole.Naturally I dived into the comments to see what others would say about the arrow and have enjoyed all the other arrow comments.I got as far as some comments against the actually content and actually stopped there and didnt watch the end of the video. Apart from that however, thanks to the arrow-maker for your invention and bringing a big grin to my day. (Hey, you're not a digger/back hoe operator are you?)

My Gray Old Lady F 250 7.5 90 got lazy the window powered by the battery and eventually the switches quit working much at all and then just died when someone messed with them and today I tried the old by pass trick with an old piece of electric cord from some old messed up and salvaged lamp and it worked: used the battery both posts and hooked the cord to the connector coming out of the inside of the door front and it worked: reversed polarity and up it went and down and my wife was really happy and then she said I got to fix her side of the truck: passenger side. But I was estastic or electrified and not fried. Thanks for reading this. I enjoy videos on hot do it your self.

  • @wildboy92004

Ok, does the regulator with motor come with a new cable because mine is frayed so I ordered the before mentioned and I'm hoping it comes with the wire cable as well. I figured ordering the regulator alone would not come with the cable since it probably is attached to the motor. Now if I'm wrong, I'm gonna be spending a lot of money to fix this problem with the frayed cable.

No chip in the motors. Might be a hall sensor but thas eet. Theres an interrupt switch at the bottom and one on top to stop the motor for some cars, on others the circuit trips when current increases (motor pulling more current when trying to push up a window thats already up).

    Hi there
I have a 1999 Vitara 16V here in Thailand. For a couple of years the driver;s window would fail, I thumped the door to cure it and eventually made a little hole in the door lining and tapped the motor via a slim screwdriver through the hole to the motor.
It mostly worked but is now unreliable.
I don't know what a aftermarket motor/regulator set costs but I know from Suzuki it's 8000baht (over $250) Even half of that is a lot in Thailand.
My question is, given its almost certain to be the motor at fault, is it possible to disassemble these window motors to replace the brushes or repair them? Or are they fixed permanently together?
    Thanks v much

That at least covers : Fords, Audi's, Volkswagen's and toyotas. ( they are the only ones i've tested) But i'm sure its close to the same on most makes and models.

Well my regulator works fine without glass connected, but just makes a groaning noise when trying to get the window up in the right rear on a 1995 Ford Falcon, I have given up, restored the liner and disconnected the switch.

I actually loved this video. Great info. I actually laughed at the sarcastic morons critizing the use of the arrow. Very funny comments! Lol I think the arrow was genius, unique, and creative. Keep up the good work.

Electric windows used to be simple and easy to repair.
Newer cars have been engineered to be cheezy and expensive to fix.
The more I find out about new cars, the less inclined I am to buy one.
