Completely share your sentiments Glenn, its an absolute beauty. I had both the Ninja and the Shogun back in the late 80's so this really brings back memories of how special these models were back then. I don't recall having ever gotten rid of them so trawling through old boxes in the hope that they may resurface for a restoration.
Still as gorgeous as I remember. Tip: when actually driving it, stuff the MSC housing with tamiya contact grease, because the arcing will otherwise burn holes in the little housing. Contact grease isn’t a dirt magnet here, because the little housing does a really good job keeping sand and grit out.
I think it’s lovely and a great example of a vintage RC but the Avante is still my all time favourite Vintage car. Love your passion for the hobby Glenn 👍
My girlfriend laughs at me when I bring a car out of my room and sit and stare at it on the kitchen table - I’m glad I’m not the only one 😄 great job - Batman should have driven a Ninja in the movies!
I never had an RC buggy back in the day but I would marshal at the local meet to watch them. I remember seeing the Ninja for the first and only time and thinking how cool n different it was. Was dying for it to flip over so I could pick it up 😂
I use maxima SC1 high gloss coating on all my rc's. Its designed for use on dirtbikes and atv's but works great for rc cars and trucks. It also has a slight cherry scent to it.
"Look at iiiiiiiiiiiit"!!!!!😄. You're enthusiasm is fantastic and so good to see. You did an absolutely stunning job, there. Great video and i cant wait to see this motor running! Try not to scratch it!!!🚙💨.........🙈
This one car was unobtainium here in Aus, even though it's crazy looks and no-ne really able to say how good it was to drive in reality... bit of a legend this thing.. as an 80's child she was always a VERY pretty thing..... nice work mate!
😁👍 Not the sexiest but a super nice one! We were lucky to be kids when these buggies all came out they look so much better than buggy's of today! Nice rebuild she's a beauty Glen!
Good morning Glen!! Love these old vintage buggies from any manufacturer!!! I think they have a lot more character than the new ones! Must be the names and such. Very 80’s!! Would be cool if you could do a samurai or big bear!!! Keep up the amazing content! Well done!
Actually I never heard of this one until recently🙈😂🤷🏼♂️ I was 16 in ‘88 and then went from rc’s to mopeds/mc’s and then cars 2 years later. I think it looks totally awesome though! But, still think the all black hot shot is the best looking buggy of all time. This is of course bias, bc I used to own an original red hot shot back in the day when it first came out.
So awesome!! I love that you are resurrecting these beauties! I remember looking at these in the back of the RC Car Actiom magazine. Never got to see one in person and I always wondered if they were great....now I know!! Thank you so much for bringing me back to my childhood wonder for a bit. What an awesome decade the 80s were!!!
Love the marui cars. I had the shogun over 30 years ago and loved it. I now have another which has an unpainted shell. I also managed to get a thunderbird which is basically the same car. Would love to find a ninja. Top vid brother. 💪👍👍
Wow! Definitely an eye catcher, and the colours go very well with the car. A rare peice of vintage history for sure. I like it, thanks for sharing it for us all vintage collectors! Looks awesome!!
This was my second RC car. First one was the Tamiya Hornet. Remenber that i made my own battery. Ran it at 9.6 volt and 10,8 volt. It was fast but the differential melted
Really nice job and a great car. I forgot how nice these cars were actually. I think Maurui might have lifted the "ninja" logo off Kawasaki though - my bike is the double of of it!
Brilliant Glenn. Love it, absolutely agree! I've just checked the wing mounts on my original and they are angled at the base so that they sit vertically. Can't wait to see you get it running.
It’s a pleasure seeing your efforts come to fruition. I am so happy for you. This car definitely has the Sega Shinobi “feel” to it, thanks for sharing this journey!
Very nice! Reminded me of the Batmobile from the 60s T.V series when it just had the red pinstripes. It’s a sweet colour combination, and a less is more sticker scheme.👍🤓🇦🇺
Absolutely beautiful. I agree that it is one of the sexiest looking rc cars. You've giving me some inspiration to work on mine. Been sitting on the shelf with no love for last 8 years... "browsing tbg now for a body..lol"
Yeah it is a beautiful rc buggy! And way ahead in the design of it considering its mid 80's I think it's got the look of the terra scorcher when the wing isn't on? It's that wing that makes it but weather it's the best looking is probably down to personal choice I'm still going for the avante😍 (including the black special) as the most beautiful looking rc buggy! But the ninja is certainly up there!
100% it's the sexist for era car. Looks like Neo Scorcher took design cues from it, but this has a smoothly rounded roof and back 3/4. I want to buy a shell/wing and try to put it on a late model body.
I just luv Marui! I’ve got one you can see it in my Kyosho jet stream videos. not in as great shape as yours, I guess i should restore it. Great work as always sir .👍
Looks great Glen.. I remember clearly when this was released.. I had to go to the dentist to have 4 teeth out.. I was cacking myself 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Anyway my mum bought me that months RC model cars magazine to read in the waiting room.. And there was the Ninja on the front cover.. great memories.. apart from the dentist!!!!
What a beauty Glenn, I came across one of my old rc mags with an ad for this in it and always remember admiring it then. I have a Jr. version of the Marui Shogun which is black and gold and also looks superb. Great work, keep doing what you are doing, I love your channel.
Glenn she looks beautiful what a sexy buggy! and like you said for the year etc a real work of art! and if l remember quite capable on track too! But it had pleanty of competition so not my favourite but defo ticks all the boxes with awesome looks, style, good performance and that fantastic Ninja name! Yeah mate up there with some of the great buggies of all time! Glenn with you on the eyes mate...these days l try to keep things simply l just can't do the detailed stuff like l did and it looks better sometimes when l don't try too hard and keep it basic! Man getting older lol..but never to old for RC!! 47 years young next birthday!😎👍 Great vid buddy.
That is a true thing of beauty, looks gorgeous from every angle Glenn! I hear that the Marui plastics aren't as durable as the Tamiya so take it easy when you run it.
Fantastic build as always sir! Thumbs up every time I start one of your videos. Should you find yourself in Florida I’d be happy to treat you to a pint my friend. Thank you! 😁👍🏼
I am sooooo jealous After last video I looked on ebay and almost passed out as I seen one but after closer inspection I seen it was a clone look-a-like.

Definitely the G.O.A.T. of the vintage RCs, if you ever need to make room please let me know.
Thanks buddy 🤩👊🏻
Still as gorgeous as I remember.

The lettering on the tyres, spot on.
Great looking buggy.
Look at modern buggies and you really can't tell which is which. Vintage R/C like vintage cars had distinctive styling.
No character at all with today’s stuff 😤
Thanks for watching buddy
Such an awesome design. The best ever. Not just from the earlier cars.

Thanks Mark 🤩👊🏻
Very nice! I still have mine from the 80’s. Haven’t run it for over 30 years. Recently started rebuilding it.
That came out great! And yes, it is one of the best looking R/C's ever.
VIGILANTE

It does look good.
Just a bit Gary 🤪👊🏻
Fantastic job!!! 2-3 hour job
.....so I'm not the only one who says that?!
Yeah I say that a lot 🤪👊🏻
Yes I definitely get what you mean about it being one of the best looking buggies from the time line, I’d love one 👍
Cheers my friend 😊👊🏻
Going to have to agree. I'm a hot shot/sand viper fan myself, but marui mastered it with this model. Excellent work! Great videos!
This one car was unobtainium here in Aus, even though it's crazy looks and no-ne really able to say how good it was to drive in reality... bit of a legend this thing.. as an 80's child she was always a VERY pretty thing..... nice work mate!

You are so right buddy, the golden era of RC was awesome, glad I was there to see it which just makes me feel old now 🤪👊🏻
Vintage! Looks superb, job well done! Greatly presented, super video and helped with the creation of a great Saturday night, thank you Glenn!
Thanks Paul 😊😊😊
That was that RC car that I wanted at the time there I was a child. That is the reason why I like RC cars ... but I never had this Ninja :(
Definitely not my favorite company or car but you did it proud and it came out beautifully. Awesome work!!
Epic car. Wish I still had mine.
Thank Matt 😊👊🏻

No doubt it’s a great looking buggy and you’ve done a lovely job but for me in the sexy stakes I’ll take the Avante.
So much love for the Avante in the comments 🤩🤩🤩

Great trip back in time!!!
If Adam Wests Batman had an RC buggy..... it'd be this one.
Thanks for watching 😎👊🏻
That was my first hobby grade RC car, before I later saved up for an entry level Optima Mid kit. Yours turned out great.
I had the samurai back in the day, was a really awesome car
Awesome build and awesome car!

I agree! that is one sexy looking car and one I remember from back in the day. For me though the Avante is still number one :)
Avante 😍😍😍
Wow that looks awesome you still have it
I just got myself a Shogun
Great looking car Glenn looking forward to the run video for me as a kid saving up I always loved the bigwig 🤓
Glad to hear that you love the BigWig Chris, it’s right up there for me too 🤩🤩🤩
Yeah. A real beauty! Good job my mate.
Thank you my friend 😊👊🏻
Beautiful 😍 Lovely Vintage RC. I’d Love to be able to find one!
Thanks Adam I’m sure you’ll get hold of one over there at some point 😊👊🏻
Marui RC, Show, Shine and sell is a great Facebook group to get one
It’s definitely a sexy car. Only one I think is better would be the black car you did on the channel.
Ming wounted up... Or just enjoying this video ;)
Thanks for watching 😊👊🏻
Wicked car Glen. Great job. Gauranga

Brilliant Glenn. Love it, absolutely agree!

I would of not cut out the front window! but that's just me and that red pinstripe is so like the 60's boatmobile lol, but i really like it very cool.
Cheers Paul 😎👊🏻
Great job! Looks just superb! I Think the Spoiler has Similarety to the terra scorcher, a little. The hole car.... but Ninja was First!
I had one of these , it was a great looking machine. I only got rid of it when I decided to go all in on the pro racing.
Well that’s a great reason Ron, Pro racing 🤩🤩🤩
Looks great! Love it! I would say personally it's tied for first with the Avante.
Thanks buddy 🤩👊🏻
Looks awesome Glenn. Nice trick on the masking will bear that in mind. From a distance no doubt would look like a mars bar livery lol
Pmsl Mars bar livery 😂
It actually does 🤪👊🏻

Although quite expensive they sell some ultrasonic hobby knife that will cut plastic like butter
Oh cool I haven’t seen that, I’ll have a look at it 😎👊🏻
