When I moved to live in Australia (I grew up in the UK) I ended up speaking with an upwards intonation at the end of sentences. It's standard there and just how English is used in Australia. UK friends commented on how it sounds to them as if a question is being asked. Sentences there can be ended with the word 'but...' Imo there is no wrong or right way to speak. Language is dynamic and sometimes individual
