damn, I struggled with Arm templates for two years only started with Terraform when moving to an AWS shop. So much better - can't wait to use it in Azure.
I had to check my video speed twice for the speaker on the right. Speaker's CI (brain building content artifacts) and CD (content artifacts delivery speech) is in real-time.
Not really. From scratch I would suggest they watch something else to explain the tool from scratch and interpret it. then as step 2 or 3 comeback to this video.
At the time of recording it was the latest. The publish date was several months after recording unfortunately and the new version wasn't out. We went with a stable version at the time.
How exactly can this incorporated into CI/CD or even manual steps if you rely on state file for everything and you are not supposed to check in this state file into Source Control
You can put the state file in azure storage account and secure it, configure Terraform to use Azure as backend, as described here www.azuredevopslabs.com/labs/vstsextend/terraform/ check step 5 and Terraform backend documentation
Love Terraform, such a simple tool to use.
The following video will show step by step working with Terraform for Azure

Thanks for this link. I needed it like soooooo much. Amazing video

Great video

Beginners can start with this video but you gotta re-play multiple times to get a hold on to her flow.

she speaks really fast
Very nice Cloud agnostic automation tool
8:53 the struggle is real !!
Terraform (multi-cloud IAC automation), > Azure ARM templates or AWS Cloud Formation.
It's amazing when you change the playback speed to .75 she talks at a normal pace :).
as someone mentioned below, reduced the speed to 0.75 and now she sounds speaking at normal speed
Hey Guys, can I create an AwaysOn availability group using terraform?
Yes: registry.terraform.io/providers/hashicorp/azurerm/latest/docs/resources/sql_server
potentially dumb question but why didn't you guys use the latest version of terraform in this? is it not compatible with Azure and CloudShell?
Been using pulumi/terraform + azure devops for the past 18 months and its awesome
At the time of recording it was the latest. The publish date was several months after recording unfortunately and the new version wasn't out. We went with a stable version at the time.
I am a little confused. Where does Terraform pull the variables from using a service prinipal?
You have to define those before hand. As environment variables of course.

RIP Abel
I think should be little slow so that beginners can understand clearly
Yo, you gotta slow down, I had to replay a lot of this video just to make sure I did not miss anything.
Or you gotta listen faster 😅
Terroform script doesn't look any less scarier either.
Love the fast talking. Too many tech videos are at a dawdling pace.
what a talking? it could have been much simpler has she gone a bit slower
This concept is crap, here's a better solution, oh wait it's gotten too complex, here's a an even better solution.
