  • My tissu act from 2005. It's been over 10 years since I made this act, so if you want to learn these moves, feel free. HOWEVER, please proceed with caution. I created these under the supervision of several coaches and tried over a foam pit. Please do not attempt these movements without someone else present.

Beautiful work. Art in motion, So original. and the way you move is like if you were weaving the silk with your legs.
    Beautiful !!!

I have seen the first drop before, but I would hardly say it's "popular among aerial silk classes." It was undeniable original, and the artist shows a comfort with the silks that is rarely seen.

Wow, Joseph. Yes, I'm amazed at how fast you prepare for your moves, it really seems you know those silks inside out, and the confidence really shows in your performance. Your strength and dexterity are really impressive. Funny though, my teacher always goes on with me about keeping a strong toe point in my transitions but yours are often flexed; kind of fits your style though. A very original act, very motivational! *sigh* One day...

Hi there, I really appreciate your training and investment in circus/aerial arts and I agree that copyrights and credit is important when it comes to inventions and sequences, but I'm thinking about how that exactly translates to circus arts. I understand that you created these drops and wraps independently of anyone else but if someone else were to create a similar drop without watching this video are they at fault? Its not like there is a database to show which moves belong to whom. Thanks.

You cannot copyright tricks in ANY art form. I think it's silly that you think you can, just because you write that you have to ask first to use them.
Just the same with hooping, or poi, silks, lyra... If something gets "invented" (mind you, someone somewhere may have done it before) it is known that sharing it (by performing it or teaching it) means other people may attempt and use them.
The tricks are completely unique and mind blowing, for sure. Amazing work!

@lusine2001 Also, it's pretty tough to take claim of individual moves, since most them are in one way or another merely an extension or tweaked version of established moves. Could probably copyright the act as a whole, but good luck defending a single drop.

WHy so uptight about people biting your moves? Most of your moves you learned from someone else and you didn't ask the original inventor. Same goes with every performer in any style. They just build on what's already been done and add their personal touches just like you did with your drops. And no, I am not going to "steal" anything.
    Real classy username btw.

I like your act, but I would like to suggest that if you don't want anyone to copy your tricks then just don't put it on youtube. or just put a video clip of it where no one can see how are you wrapping yourself. Because if anyone would like to copy they wont ask you for permission, and there is a possibility that you may not even find out about it.
