🚀 Want to create hard-hitting neurofunk like Phace? In this video, I break down how to design tight percussion, rolling basslines, and glitchy grooves for that signature neurofunk sound! 🎛️🎶
I start with a bass remake from my previous Mefjus - Disrupted video 🎵 and layer sounds from my neuro glitch library 🔊 to add texture and movement. To keep the rhythm flowing, I fill in the gaps using my neuro fill collection 🥁, making sure every hit lands perfectly in the mix. And of course, I spice it up with custom Serum bass layers ⚡ for extra depth and power!
This tutorial covers:
✅ Percussion layering for clean, punchy drum grooves
✅ Glitchy fills to keep the groove dynamic and unpredictable
✅ Bass sound design using Serum and layering techniques
✅ Tight mixdown tricks to make everything hit HARD in a mix
If you're into neurofunk drum programming, groove design, and advanced bass sound design, this is a must-watch! 🚀🔥

Thank you for watching this video! Please don't forget to subscribe, share and comment! I love reading your comments!
I tried "scripting" my videos this time. How do you like it?
Meh, I'd say you're not douchy/obnoxious enough to pull these humdingers off. It kinda sucks that you feel like you have to fit the mold of an annoying UA-camr to appeal to ADHD zoomers. In my honest opinion, this is one of the best music production channels as it was, but then again, I'm pretty much an old fart. Probably 'listen to your heart' or something.
@ Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Yeh i try different things, I'm not saying this stays. I regularly check analytics and do what brings the most engagements because i have to stay above the water!
I still too prefer the old school way but i also feel the attention span dropping on myself too and that's why I started editing my videos more! But don't worry, I won't give up the value!!
I think as long as you are having fun it's all good. Personally I usually just watch tutorials for information so I click past any filler stuff, but maybe others like more entertainment...
I remember 10-15 years ago any video with the words "reese" "growl bass" "noisia" was like gold and got a million views, but I feel you because even though your content is probably the best out there for this kind of production YT is so saturated with it now. I hope you can find a way to make yours rise to the top.
I like the idea but I think you've used it too much. Part of why I like your music is the little sprinklings of comedy in your video, like array of bass faces you make at certain points haha, however it can get a but tiring if over used. Great bass though, thanks for sharing!
I thought your adjectives and metaphors were brilliant 😂 Added some lols and didn't distract from the excellent tutorial and all the knowledge you deliver 👍🏻
This beat is hard af!!! Thanks for the video
I thank you for watching it
love these breakdowns! great help
I am glad bruh!
Great🎉

Really cool video. thank you
I thank you for watching it! Come back next week too! 😊
@ long time viewer (and patreon) member, I’ll be back!
@@carbine781 uh thank you for your long support!
What do you need help in? Request time! 🥹
@ I'd love to see your takes on some songs where theres essentially one lead sound but its so clean / well designed that it carries the entire drop. Some off the top of my head are Shadow People by Eptic and the Killas ID by Skrillex & ISOxo!
@@Letsynthesize Another example would be sound design similar to that Moody Good & Skrillex ID that has been getting teased a bunch recently. Those bass sounds that sound almost growly/formanty
Great content as always! My thoughts on your scripting: Good idea, but maybe save some of the comparion jokes for your next videos so that you don't have to write 37 of them every week 😅
Yeh that actually makes sense, will do it this way!
support!

Hey man, i have a question, i hope you can answer
Lately when i've been sound designing basses and leads, with lots of distortion, FM and other things, when i look through the pro q 3 for a fundamental and overtones, it almost always shows it as if it's out of key
but when i listen to it it sounds in key to me
and i am always playing the correct note
i've been trying to figure out why on eq it shows me the tones that not on my scale
should i worry about it and try to pitch my basses or if it sounds fine than it's fine ?
thanks ^^
oh hey it's you
it depends on the first five-seven (sometimes nine) harmonics of basses you are making, everything else sometimes can be atonal even...
also, if you are using square waves, they are quite atonal despite having odd harmonics from harmonic series
you might want to show the example of what you feel like is atonal for you.
Yeh so what bigmoneyjohn wrote makes sense. The series of fundamentals can create an atonal feeling and mainly FM can cause this. So you hear them that they are okay because you KNOW and familiar with how FM sounds but it's very easy to go atonal with it.
We, neurofunk people know this thing and barely worry about it until it sounds good.
Sometimes heavy process (filtering mainly on the very lows then distortion etc) can cause this type of thing when the harmonics are rearranged compares to the source sound.
@@Letsynthesize Hey, thanks for the answer, totally makes sense :)
I do more melodic music 90 % of the time, but lately been producing heavy trap music and was just confused about what is going on with leads and basses haha
@@bigmoneyjohn Hey, thanks for the answer :)
I don't have an example cause it was mainly in new heavy demos i was making with crazy post processing and i was just worried i am messing with the sound too much, but realized if the bass lead sound great to me, it's probably fine haha
@LeateqOfficial Yeh and sometimes they wobble a bit too (vibrate) that VST detect as being off, but in reality they are fine
So many one liners omfg :')
@@manuelwegeling I'm glad you liked them 😊
insane drop and great breakdown but the one-liners are tooo much haha
@@korlmusic 🤔
Okay, noted! Thanks bro!
What's the track in the intro ?
@@luckybuzz466 it's my Noisia style dnb course song. You can find the link to it in the description!
Nice, but old Phace sound was so epic...im nostalgic about times Vitamin P and Alive ❤
Definitely tone down the comparisons. They detract from an otherwise informative content.
What comparison did you mean bro?
I don't think "writing" means stuffing caffeinated squirrels in every sentence (sometimes twice, even), and I don't feel particularly entertained looking at the shaking screen every time I try to understand you and the point. It can be infotainment and not be discotheque.
The script gives off a roboticism of chatgpt jokes, not the charisma of a pleasant presenter, imo.
The sketch sounded promising, but I couldn't survive the presentation past two minutes.
@@Vospi I'm sorry to hear that! This is why I asked you guys how you like it
That downbeat scream tho...
@@BlackAera Yeh I love that too! And you can see how simple it is, just compress together a bandrejected bass with a stupid sound (this time a time-stretched percussion) and non you are done.
Oioi

Holy Loops Batman 🤡
Why batman? 😂
That’s the saying here in the states 😎
Um… this has nothing to do with funk.
Yeh neurofunk usually does not have to
