In addition to world class talent, what you have here folks is class. Especially with Alison Brown. Whenever, where ever you see her, expect top quality bluegrass.
Tremendous fun! Brings me back to the night at McCabe’s when John had the audience get up out of their seats, put the chairs against the wall, and then he called an impromptu square dance. He was on fiddle, scratching out percussion by scraping his foot on mic’d rock salt on the stage floor. Definitely one of the greatest entertainers I’ve ever seen.
Some of the most talented ladies of bluegrass in the entire universe here. Brittany is one of my favorite fiddlers in the world. I had to play this a few times it was so good!
Even though it's been 23 years, I can still see Alison playing John's banjo at the ceremony to celebrate John's life at his home in Madison. Miss him every time I open my banjo or fiddle case, 'cause there he is!!!
One of the best songs from John's long list of great songs. Seeing John's Julia Belle Swain banjo again brought tears to this old man's eyes. Great playing by everyone. Now will someone please write a definitive biography of John before I die?
Wow, was not expecting this! What a room full of great musicians doing a great job with one of John’s best. More to come, it sounds like. I’m tuning in.
Always loved Kathy Mattea. Her bluegrass roots go way back. She did her damnedest to boost Tim O’Brien up, but he’s not a C&W star kinda guy. Stellar playing here all around. 💙
@toddevans2853 with respect. It seem to me that you disagree with my statement, that is fine, that does not mean I am wrong, it just means we have a different opinion.
@@marktate4466 Yes I do disagree with your statement that bluegrass is not her bag. Glad that's fine with you. You're correct, we do have different opinions. But one of us is wrong. And it's not me. If you do some online research, there's plenty of content that supports my position. But let's leave it here.

Sierra on guitar! And Megan! This is awesome! What a terrific group to bring together. 👏👏 ❤

I love seeing Megan Lovell playing here. She needs to be featured in more bluegrass. She is awesome.
On the other hand, she’s doing such amazing work electrifying dobro ideas in Larkin Poe!
You do know that she cut her teeth in bluegrass with the Lovell Sisters band, right?
@@martinparmer Yep! But I actually like Larkin Poe more. They really found their focus.
Great to see Megan Lovell back in bluegrass. I remember her at our local opry
Gorgeous! And I love the fact that there is no mandolin being played, so I can sit at my kitchen table and add that part in the background! ❤🎉
You're lucky, Rebecca Lovell was not available that day

Or that Sierra was on gitar.

The greatest album cover ever and one of the 10 greatest country music songs ever written and recorded.
My goodness, what a great team! This is music with soul and heart, thank you so much for sharing.

Amazing musicians and a Hartford tune
..can't beat that
Brilliantly played!
Wonderful job all around! There are signature songs that belong to an artist and can rarely be done well by anyone else, but you girls nailed it👍
This would make John Hartford proud 😊
You brought a big smile to my face. Thanks for the music!
JUST WOW!!!!! This brought a very big grin to my face! Thank you Ladies!!!
That's as pure and clean as it gets folks!!!
What a talented group. I didn't know Sierra could handle a dreadnought like that!
lol. lil lady
There's an awesome clip of her as a kid playing guitar, cherokee shuffle, i think .

Interesting to see Megan Lovell there! Can't wait for this album to come out. :-)
With Sierra on guitar, it would have been a good time for Rebecca to get the mandolin back in use.
I haven't seen Kathy Mattea since the 90's. She looks exactly the same!
What a super group. Love the music Allison produces, videos are even better. Thanks!
This is beautiful
Great rendition of this John Hartford classic
Wow, was not expecting this! What a room full of great musicians doing a great job with one of John’s best. More to come, it sounds like. I’m tuning in.
I wish I were there with them !!!
I dig this beyond the scarves of castile.
Great musicians one and all! Such a beautiful joyful performance.
Great!!!!!
exceptional!!!
Sierra is playing Tut Taylor's dobro riff on the guitar.
The Norwegians have a word for this: "Bravissimo!"

Insightful and informed comment.
This makes me smile and cry at the same time.

Bravo
Awesome!
❤
Supergroup.

Is this group of musicians touring off of the album release?
In A flat???😮😅 sounds great tho!
Beautiful. My one only stupid critique is that it would have been more accurate to flat pick the dobro. More please. Thank you.
In G#.
This is a great performance but the jerky-camera style of editing is SUPER ANNOYING and detracts from the song and the fine musicianship.
Sorry, but not a good vocal job by Kathy. Rest of the band was outstanding.
Kathy M is one of my favorite girl singers ever, but bluegrass is not her bag.
With respect, you're so wrong.
