Penrith's 1st try had some luck involved Bill Harrigan called Jason Cayless out of the play as he was offside and the Panthers took full advantage of that
East vs west met in the middle under rain soaked spotties in front of 80 thousand proud to produce one of the best modern day grand finals. This is rugby league.
I will never forget that night. I remember watching the 2003 NRL Grand Final live on Channel Nine at home and it was an absolute instant classic Grand Final. That’s got me in the Edge of my seat for the entire match and it was so entertaining and that was one of the best Grand Final I’ve ever seen as Rugby League fan
What a night it was. The night that I became a Penrith Panther supporter and the start of welcoming the greatest game of all into my life. GO THE MIGHTY PENRITH PANTHERS ALL THE WAY!!! 🖤🖤🖤
@@sulty0310 you were as slow to hop on the bandwagon of this comment ad you were with supporting penrith bud 💀 funny how now finals have rolled around you show up huh
This is a very painful memory as a Roosters fan, but this was one of the best Grand Finals I've ever seen. Both teams threw everything at each other and left nothing in the tank, Luke Priddis was the difference and Scott Sattler's amazing tackle on Todd Byrne. Just an amazing game but one that I'm not too fond of lol.
The Penrith Panthers had the best season that year in 2003 and I can say the same thing to Sydney Roosters as well Both the Penrith Panthers and Sydney Roosters had a great 2003 season
And now, twenty years later, the Panthers have climbed an even greater mountain, winning three Grand Finals in a row! The latest one, in a heartstopping thriller against the Broncos.
1:26:37 the moment all of Roosters players thought Penrith were gonna have a shot for a field goal. (They were all getting ready to charge down the potential field goal attempt from the Panthers) Yet, Priddis goes left for Rooney to score the match-sealing try! Very very good enough to win the Clive Churchill medal for setting up 2 Rooney tries and scoring one himself.
This was actually a boring grand final. Very little ball movement or backing play. No spark or imagination in attack to try and break the line. A lot of one out play off the ruck. Run, tackle, run, tackle and then kick. Repeat. Players standing around in tackles, arms free but no offload, no second phase play. Kicking was poor from both sides. Fittler and Minicello were ineffective. Apart from the Sattler tackle and Priddis long pass for final try, this game was dull. There have been much better grand finals than this.

Thank you! I needed to make a video!
Mate, there's no reason to do that. The game itself is one of the greats. My top 3 of all time since 74 (when i was born). There's no short cuts bro.

1:44:50 bro was so smashed from that game that he came up with a new word hahaha
A grand final for the ages. This panthers team walked… so the 21, 22, 23 Panthers could run!

Probably the best grand final
Raiders fan here. Gee those Panthers copped some chin-music. Talk about tough!

Martin Lang had 15 Category 1 HIA's in this game...😂
It’s hilarious they talk about West v East but what is Kingswood Sports Club, a club in heart of Panthers territory run & managed by Roosters.
