The Blake Lively civil rights complaint was Not yet filed with courts when the NY Times published the story. By publishing the story the NY Times is implicitly lending truthfulness to Blake's accusations. Therefore the responsibility on the NY Times to "get it right" is important & they should be held legally accountable.
I think the NYT published the article because Baldoni and his team SIGNED legal documents promising to end the harassment that was going on, on set. And adhere to all the requests RELATED to ending that harassment. Which would be an ADMISSION of guilt of doing all that he, Baldoni and his work partner is accused of. BUT NOW, Baldoni is saying signing those papers were not an admission of guilt that was done to get Lively back on the set and working again. But I am not buying that. NO ONE SIGNS legal documents lightly, thinking they are no big deal; THEY ARE LEGAL DOCUMENTS. Everyone knows legal documents being signed have legal repercussions if the request on them are NOT followed through with. I THINK Baldoni and his legal team are NOW taking advantage of the bad press LIvely is getting for being mean in a few interviews she gave and is using that as their legal strategy to get Baldoni out of trouble for harassing her on the movie set. That seems very clear to me.
A powerful star actor usurped the rights of a young director with bullying, and falsely accused him. Moreover, the most famous newspaper published a biased article in favor of the powerful. This is a serious social justice issue, not just a matter of gossip.
He's literally older than her and they both grew up with different privileges. This is not a social justice issue, it's PR to sell their movie. A movie that romanticizes an abusive and toxic relationship. They are both probably laughing at all of us because their names are trending and people who never heard of them or Colleen Hoover are now running to watch their movie cause of all the tea. To me, the pitiful amount of time given to respond, about 14 hours, which most of that is over night on a weekend before a major holiday, and the fact that NYT then didn't even stick to their own time requirement, instead publishing nearly 2 hours early, is proof they didn't do their due diligence and deserve to pay for what they've done.
Yah the fact they published early shows they were probably being pressured to publish it too. They were catering to spoiled wealthy stars instead of doing their job properly.

There is a profound logic that lies beneath this story and while I know neither Blake, Ryan nor Justin my thoughts go to the essence of the story. Justin found backers for the project which was a major motion picture and involved millions. His co-star was an “A List” celebrity actress who goes on double dates with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Justin compared to Blake & Ryan is a little peanut who needed everything to go right on this project which was his first major motion picture directorial debut. He is in a far lesser position than uber wealthy and powerful Blake and Ryan and Justin had everything to lose and nothing to gain by hassling Blake. He would have to be an idiot socially who had no concept of leverage and an incompetent business person and actor & director to engage in a dispute with Blake and Ryan. It was simply against his own best interests to argue with these two powerful people. It makes no sense for Justin to do anything but have a great relationship with Blake and Ryan.
