Thanks for stopping by, Riff! Their first kit and a very nice one. I hope they can maintain that high standard and change a couple of things - like the thickness of their PE or the few negative points in their instructions. Got at least two more of their kits on my wish list now. :)
Great video as usual.. full of lovely detail and your excellent methods to get the best out of a kit... however.... I now keeping singing along to "Rosie the Riveter" and it became my ear worm for the day!
Thank you very much, Benny! This build kept me really busy. My girlfriend, the dogs and sleep got about eleven hours of the day, but the tractor got the rest - from New Year's Eve till yesterday. My girlfriend is a very wise woman and let me do what I had to do. I just love her, that's all I can say. :)
Nice build Jens! The subject is so cool too! It never occurred to me that the military would use agricultural tractors, but it definitely makes sense as they're perfect for dragging equipment around. I am totally with you when it comes to PE and it has to be absolutely essential to the build or easy to work with before I will mess with it...old eyes and fingers make PE an adventure in any situation. I'm looking forward to your next update. Take Care, Scott in Colorado
Thanks a lot! Yeah, I imagine working with PE would have been easier for me 30 years ago, hehehe! The update will be the complete paint job. I'll try to keep the video shorter than this one. Take care. Jens in South Germany
Thanks a lot, Chalky! Actually I've got several dio ideas for this kit, so I'll have to build it again and again until there aren't any ideas left, hehehe!
Great build Jens, well done my friend. I am not a fan of PE either especially where there is no real need for it, but this tractor turned out really great. Have fun with your next build, Joe
Thanks a lot, Joe! I can't understand the use of PE in this kit. It's unnecessary. I've got a lot of models to paint now and that will give me a little more time to watch videos. Take care, mate! :) Jens
Good stuff Jens and nice scratch-building! I've never built anything with PE so I can't give an opinion on what I think about it. Keep having fun! Cheers : )
Thanks a lot, Martin. PE isn't really good with my diminishing dexterity and some parts on other kits are that tiny that my eyesight says "no". I really could do without it. Yeah, keep having fun, too! Cheers :)
International British Modeler That's really bad. I think I'll better get me some before my eyes turn that bad. I can't do any detail painting or assemble fiddly stuff for longer than 15 minutes. After that my eyes need a break of at least half an hour. Sometimes I wish I was young again. Only sometimes though.
Bitte weiter so , mein Freund :)
Vielen Dank, Robert!
Thanks a lot, buddy! It is a great kit. Modelers with more experience with PE will enjoy the build even more than I did - unless I'm right and the PE is really too thin and flimsy. :)
Thanks a lot, Gary! I'll try that the next time I have to remove CA glue. I might even try it on the tractor if I can get to those places with a Q-Tip! Take care. :) Jens
I really enjoyed your video of building this tractor. How long was the tractor when finished? I was hoping to see a hand or some other reference so I could picture it. You're not the only one with 'sausage fingers' and I have trouble with small kits and tiny parts (and PE). The narration was very well done. You should consider providing the voice for audiobooks. The music I could've done without. All in all, I think you did a brilliant job.
Thanks a lot! I'd have to go down the cellar to measure it, but it was shorter than 10 cm, maybe 8 or 9 cm. I got a lot more practice with PE parts since then, but I still think that the few PE parts in this kit are extremely flimsy and I'd replace them with scratch built styrene or sheet brass/copper parts. The music is my personal style and it helps to fill in pauses when I haven't got anything to say, but want to give my viewers enough time to look at the pics. :)
It seemed you didn't have too many problems with this little kit Jens I probably will replace a lot of PE especially on foot plates the PE seems to be more more effort then what it's worth I agree with you the PE should be a lot thicker I think if the PE was thicker it would hold its own really nice little build thanks sharing the traps ,keep doing what you're doing sim
Thanks a lot, Sim! This kit is great and I'm not exaggerating. The PE... well... Anyway, I'll get me some Evergreen diamond plates for my next go at the tractor which will be some time this year. My eyes need some rest now and maybe I get around to watching a couple of vids! Take care and be good, my friend. :) Jens
Nice video Jens, it must be tractor day with you and Simmo both going all agricultural minded on us 🚜🚜🚜. Great scratch building as always and good perseverance with the PE, many people think PE stands for Photo Etched, but it really stands for Patience Exhauster!!!!! I hate it but I refuse to let it beat me, I just built a 30cal tripod mounted machine gun a resin and PE kit, the two things I hate the most combined, I think I could have mad a real machine gun that workers faster that that little beast took me 😱😱😱
LOOOOL!!! I feel for you, Glen! I did that with a .50 cal M2, but without resin and it drove me insane. Actually I love resin in spite of all the precautions. I think it's far superior to styrene. A matter of personal taste. I like your explanation for PE, because it's simply the truth. And now I want the Ferguson tractor Sim just built! "Thanks God I'm a country boy!" I'm not, but I live in a village and there are many old tractors. I just love them. :)
PE and sausage fingers, yeah, I feel your pain! Been there, try to avoid PE whenever I can, but all in all you did a great job, so be proud of yourself!
Thanks a lot, Tom! Well, I'm sure the Indian's spokes will be PE, as well as the chain and a couple of other things. But I wnat to build her nonetheless. An Indian!!! How could I not be wanting to build her? Damn, I'm not a masochist, but I've got to do this! :) Jens
Thanks a lot, Neil! Wait, there's the T-34, the Panzer III, the Stug III, the Normandy dio, the Red Ball Express build, the trailers... Hmmm, too many!!! :)
Damn, I just GOTTA quit watching modeling videos on UA-cam as it's costing me a fortune every time one of you guys show off something new/nice !-) There's also a different variant of this kit as a loader. Both are like $47 w/free shipping on Evilbay.
LOL!!! Same here, my friend! There are too many great kits out there and I can't afford to buy them all, let alone building them! This kit was 25.- € and the loader is 27.- € - plus shipping, but that isn't too expensive in Germany. Thanks for watching. :)
No, I'm not married but I got retired at the age of 45 (six years ago) due to health issues. Money's short - and I've got two dogs who are more important than new expensive kits, my friend. :) I set up a monthly budget for modeling I can't extend. On the other hand that makes for more scratch building instead of buying after market PE sets. "Always look on the bright side of life...." :)
I agree about dogs.....he (Grizzly the fierce tail wagger) comes first. And while I've only been bitten a few times by my 4 legged friends, couldn't tell you the number of times 2 legged ones wanted to/tried sticking a knife in my back. As to PE stuff, I've only bought a few for my aircraft models, other wise prefer to scratch build, mold, then cast additional parts when possible. Take a look at Plasmo, guy here on UA-cam. He's got a really good video on 2 ways of making your own PE parts. Only limit from what I saw is your imagination. Going to get into that later this year as I want to build gates around homes, security bars on windows, ferns, etc. for my dioramas. Also been looking at 3D printing, but that's a couple of years down the road. As to the tractor kits, also been looking thru various toy stores while also carrying a 1/35th scale figure to see how they match up scale wise.
I'm subbed to PLASMO and I watched the vid on selfmade PE. Really interesting stuff! I purchased the "U.S. Drivers" set by MiniArt for the tractor. There's only one real driver and I must use the legs of another kit because the angles are wrong. Drivers aren't easy to come by and that's something I'll never understand. Vehicles won't move forward without drivers. I bought a huge Eduard PE set for the Revell (Italeri) M7 Priest and I also purchased Friul tracks for that kit and an ABER .50 cal upgrade set. Apart from the MG stuff I bought these sets before I got retired. Couldn't do that anymore. At least not at once. I never looked into casting stuff but I guess I will because of that re-usable Blue Stuff thing. That's just a great idea! Now it's bed time in good old Germany. Take care my friend. :) Jens
Hard not to appreciate the accuracy of your build Jens !! Pleasure to watch as always . Take care .
Thank you so much Andrzej! :) Take care, my friend.
Astonishing detail in all this process! Can't wait to see it finished
Thanks a lot, Daniel! I wanted to show as much of the build as possible. That made the vid a little longer than I had planned! :)
That kit had some sweet looking molded parts. Thanks for the build video and the new manufacture to check out.
Another..... Thumbs Up!
Thanks a lot, Harry! It's one of my favourite songs. That kit is very nice without doing any scratch building but now it's MY model. :)
Great work Jens the Tractor is looking good be lovely painted. :-) J
Thanks a lot, John! Seems to be "tractor week"! Sim build one in 1/24 and now there's another kit on my wish list, hehehe! Jens
The Armour builders have gone rural
John Moore's Scale Model's Hehehe!
Another enjoyable video. The added details look great.
Non-Prolific 1/35th Scale Model Builder you're very fortunate
That can't be denied! :)
Fantastic work my friend! I really enjoyed this.
Thanks a lot, Patrick! An unusual subject, but a great one! :)
Nice build Jens! The subject is so cool too! It never occurred to me that the military would use agricultural tractors, but it definitely makes sense as they're perfect for dragging equipment around. Superb build Jens......I've got a dio idea for this kit so if I ever get around to it this is perfect reference :-D
Thanks a lot, Chalky! Actually I've got several dio ideas for this kit, so I'll have to build it again and again until there aren't any ideas left, hehehe!
lol, i'll be watching :-)
Great build Jens, well done my friend. I am not a fan of PE either especially where there is no real need for it, but this tractor turned out really great.

My eyes have gotten worse since I began modelling in 2014, to the point that I have to wear optivisors full time, now!
International British Modeler That's really bad. I think I'll better get me some before my eyes turn that bad. I can't do any detail painting or assemble fiddly stuff for longer than 15 minutes. As always I love your background music ;)
Thanks a lot, Steve! :)

looks a great kit mate.
Thanks a lot, buddy! It is a great kit. Modelers with more experience with PE will enjoy the build even more than I did - unless I'm right and the PE is really too thin and flimsy. :)
Very nice work Jens!! I like it a lot:-)
Thank you very much, Stefan! :)
Nice build so far. I think if you need to remove CA glue from PE, a little lacquer thinner on a q-tip will work.
Gary
Thanks a lot, Gary! I'll try that the next time I have to remove CA glue. I might even try it on the tractor if I can get to those places with a Q-Tip! Take care. :) Jens

very cool video Jens how many projects you got on the bench at the moment
Thanks a lot, Neil! Wait, there's the T-34, the Panzer III, the Stug III, the Normandy dio, the Red Ball Express build, the trailers... Hmmm, too many!!! :)
can't wait to see them all I thought I had enough on the go lol
Nor can I!!! LOL! I'll try to reduce that as soon as I finished these builds. Not more than one at a time *keeps on dreaming*
