  • The latest Liebherr crawler crane in the 1000 tonne class positioned a gigantic machine room on the tower of a wind turbine in Cuxhaven, Germany.
The parallel boom which drastically increases load capacities was recently used for the first time on the LR 11000:
The heaviest component of the system was the massive machine room. With a radius of 30 metres the LR 11000 together with the load cross beam and hook block hoisted a total load of 220 tonnes to a height of 130 metres.
Just for comparison, without the PowerBoom, it would only have been able to hoist around 160 tonnes with the same hook height.

The opening shot gave a true sense of the size of the boom components. The wheels looked like 747 landing gear! Excellent video

Aside from the crane being a spectacle in itself. The size of that wind turbine is mind blowing. Are there larger wind turbines or is that the largest in tower height and cell weight?

I like the video, I worry about a 220 ton machine room onto of the tower in strong winds! But I'm sure it's all been engineered well. Cool crane, why haven't you come up with the double boom idea before?

Самое обидное, что монтажники этого привода, получают зарплату больше, чем крановщик

They did, a black and white one (with a grey boom) and it's now assembled and working at the SpaceX launch and landing site in Boca Chica, Texas.
