That smile is beautiful and always welcome. I had been praying for Jess when in one video she acted like she might be ill, then came the big announcement.. so that may be it. Will continue the habit though🙂.
Just spent 6 hours outside and got my garden in! Came inside and see that Jess blessed us with an almost 30 minute garden tour. This is THE best way to unwind and cool down!! Thank you!
I watch a channel that doesn’t do follow ups. It’s so frustrating. Seeing how a plant grows is crucial to decide if it’s something that appeals to you, performs well, and is good beyond the initial planting. You get it. Thanks.
I have a funny volunteer sunflower story. We had been renting a place for years and when we moved into our current house I was so excited to have space to garden but I didn't have a lot of resources to go big in the first few years. Anyway I wanted to grow something so I got a pack of sunflower seeds and planted just a small patch of them by the house. We've now had sunflowers popping up in the lawn for the past two years and I refuse to let them be mowed over. So now I go out when I see one coming up and that little patch of lawn around them is my responcibilty. I just love them too much. They want to grow and they're beautiful.
Thank you for taking the time to explain the basil and how to preserve it and what to do with it. That's what I love about your channel is that you really look out for everybody and you don't hold back on thinking that all people will already know that because I didn't know any of it, actually.
I can’t wait until one day I can own a piece of land and have a garden as glorious as this. Until then I’ll just live vicariously through you. I’m so happy you’ve decided to bring us along your journey and best wishes for your family on y’all’s new endeavor ❤️
I hear you. I'm still babying things along in the greenhouse. couple more week when we can get new raised beds built is my target. Be safe Be prepared Be Blessed.
We ALL are PRAYING for a smooth and safe transition for your families move...I myself have been a 60 square foot patio gardener for 3 years learning how to grow everything from you and in July I bought a 3 acre property in Arizona so that I myself can have something beautiful like yours thank you for EVERYTHING that you do...
Jess, I am also moving from my garden in August. Only moving to college but I won’t be able to come home very easily. I’m starting to plant pumpkins and stuff that I won’t even get to see in person. Everyone in my neighborhood are super excited to see all of my plants growing and I’ll admit that I am bitter that I won’t be around the garden at all. It’s really helped me to watch these videos and realize I’m not the only one leaving my baby behind. I have plants to bring for my dorm room and my aunt lives close to my campus, I’m having her plant some of my favorite pumpkins for me :)
Your Tangerine Skles rose grows on its own root and is not a grafted rose. That's good news for you, because you can take cuttings that wil do fine without being grafted on a rootstock. I hope you can take your mothersday epic rose with you to SC. Can't find it in the Netherlands. I really love this rose!

Do both, watch them when they come out then do a marathon playlist watching at another time. I generally pick up something on the second viewing that I missed on the first one.

I think the first one I found was Justin Rhodes... my viewings expanded from the site suggestions. I remember being kind of shocked that all these homesteaders know each other & some are close friends. That kinda rocked my world. 💚
I’m watching you talk about Basil while eating a balsamic dressing salad with lettuce leaf basil and a tomato Basil spinach pizza with fresh basil on top 🙌🏻😂
Hey Jess, my 79 year old dad said to me a few weeks ago "You cant kill an onion". In his opinion the weather is not an issue with onions. And I found that to be true. All my bulbing onions, walking onions and bunching onions, they all survived all of the late frosts and cold weather. From just a handful of bulbs that I got from Papa Pepper 2 years ago, I now have enough walking onions to feed a small country. I appreciate that you showed us what happened with the ground cherries. Between the cold weather and doing the same exact thing with almost ALL OF MY TOMATOES a few weeks ago, I ended up with about 6 good tomato plants out of about 50. Oh. Well. God knows what we need and every year is different. So I will start again and will maybe have fall tomatoes instead. So thanks for showing us that you did that with your ground cherries. Its not as much of a tragedy in my opinion, as accidently killing your tomato babies after MONTHS of nurturing them like they were newborn babies, but it still made me feel like less of a disaster of a garden mother. I knew better. I really did, but just got impulsive. And I don't think it will ever happen again.
Jess, don't be sad, I've moved states over 15 years due to my military childhood, it just lead to new things to learn, grow, experience, new people new everything, don't be scared
Ok, so, I've always considered myself a black thumb. I fell in love with your channel and have binge watched for the last year, now I have been doing all the gardening things and planting stuff recklessly and my husband is laughing at me😂 I keep telling him," I'm not getting into gardening, this is Jess' fault!"😂❤
Sometimes when I watch your videos I feel so far behind but I have to remind myself that my growing season is about 60 days shorter than yours and to breath.
I feel the same. But I always hear a voice saying "love your own garden well". So it brings me back to doing the very best I can with my own space. We will get there, it just takes time and warmth that we havent had yet!
My best tomato plants I ever grew were some I tossed out on a window sill when they were super leggy seedlings because I had way too many and planned to compost them. They got horribly sunburned and whacked about by wind and hardly watered and guess what, after all their leaves fell off they grew back crazy lush with sturdy stocky main stems and they never even needed staking despite a huge harvest! The other seedlings from the same batch that I babied and hardened off super gently stayed leggy, set fruit late and never ripened before frost hit. That was my biggest surprise/lesson as a gardener so far and it made me move to direct seeding my tomatoes to make sure they deal with all the elements they will have to deal with at maturity, right from the start. It's led to better tomato harvests for me the past 2 years.
Jess You inspire us to grow and love our Gardens. My wife runs in when she hears your voice. Sharon " She's easy to listen to! I want a Garden like that!" Me: "We'll work on it once we are fully off grid on our own property! " Much love, The Shire.
I,too, want to encourage you both to do what you can where you are. It may be a long time (hope not) before you have that dreamed of property so bloom where you're planted 🤗😁💐🌻🌿🌾🌷😉

Thankyou for the name of that rose that just sets me on the road of goodness and joy as soon as i fix my eyes upon it, and you have been opening every video with it lately.. joy!! just sorta realized that its right outside your beautiful garden door so obviously we are gonna see it each time hahahaha

Now, it really makes me anxious to see what you will do with the new property. When you talked at the beginning about all the plants you plan to take as plants or cuttings, I realized that you need to start now to have time for all of that work because the last few days will be all packing of the house and the greenstalks, etc.

Jess, while I sit through the winter I re-watch some tours just to see what kind and how your tomatoes are doing. This video we only got a broad wave to the tomato rows. I do understand they are still young, but a showing would still be awesome. Everything looks amazing!
Every time you wonder at your chives making it through your winter, I smile and have a little chuckle. I live in Ontario (Canada), and my chives come back from minus fourty celcius, no cover (other than snow) and being planted in a wood planter :)
It is so useful to be able to see how big plants can get BEFORE you plant them in your own garden. Gives you a much better idea of how many to plant, how far apart, and how likely a plant is to take over the whole garden and attempt world domination.
I love ur enthusiasm!!! Im glad im not the only one. I will be doing vertical gardning next spring and cant wait, i've binged whatched u for a year. lol. still do. shhh

Jess, while I sit through the winter I re-watch some tours just to see what kind and how your tomatoes are doing. This video we only got a broad wave to the tomato rows. I do understand they are still young, but a showing would still be awesome. Everything looks amazing!
Your Tangerine Skies rose in the background at the beginning is like a flower crown on you. Beautiful!
I’m just here to say how well that color of blue suits you!
Yay! Thank you Jess for being such an inspiration!!❤️❤️❤️
Every time you wonder at your chives making it through your winter, I smile and have a little chuckle. I live in Ontario (Canada), and my chives come back from minus fourty celcius, no cover (other than snow) and being planted in a wood planter :)
What a wonderful gift to leave your friends.
Ohhhhhh... The baby beans!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I can't wait to see mine 😌
Love that jumper
The purple one could be an ebb tide rose. And for your cabbage, my family dose a feast on cabbage rolls. Eat you fill, and then freeze the rest!
It is so useful to be able to see how big plants can get BEFORE you plant them in your own garden. Gives you a much better idea of how many to plant, how far apart, and how likely a plant is to take over the whole garden and attempt world domination.
