I spent more than a year camping in desert country that had at least a dozen species of rattlesnake, and I never used a tent. I never woke up with one in my blankets, but I awoke several time to find one, and sometimes two, in camp, sometimes only a few feet away. About two years ago, we saw a seven-foot timber rattler where I live now. I have much liked rattlesnakes since. Besides, I already have a bunch of pen rests, running from five dollars to two hundred dollars. Most go unused. In fact, I use only three, and two of them cost under ten dollars. I do have one expensive one I use. It has a marble base with a brass riser than holds two pens SCCURELY, and a deep brass cubicle on each end for inkwells. Coincidentally, these hold large Diamine ink bottles perfectly. I want two things from a pen rest. It must hold the pen in a way that stops the pen from falling off should it get bumped, and it should also have an inkwell. I absolutely love the craftmanship and beauty of this rattlesnake rest, and I have played with one for about fifteen minutes, but fails on both my needs. Which means I'll probablt buy one at some point just because it is very cool. But I can almost guarantee I won't use it because it doesn't do what I need.
