MVL's killer bishops swarm Caruana's Adams Attack

- Featured is the chess game between Fabiano Caruana and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave from the 2015 Tata Steel Masters. In response to MVL's Sicilian Najdorf, Caruana chooses the Adams Attack. MVL's middlegame idea to break with d5 sacrifices a pawn in exchange for a killer bishop pair and a kingside pawn majority. In this model game against the Adams Attack, pay special attention to MVL's key pawn advances that allow his dark-squared bishop in particular to become a menace.

Hi Jerry, I am a silent watcher that never leaves comments but your videos are really my favorite part of the internet, thanks for all the hardwork and analysis you provide.
Thank you for sharing that. I appreciate the compliment. 👍
The bishop attacking the rook but never taking it is so badass
Where the "advantage of the bishop pair" gets concrete meaning. Super instructive Jerry, as always with your game reviews.
Nice to read that. Thank you for watching IC. 😎
@@ChessNetwork A suggestion I've had in mind for some time: could you do something similar with "the center"? Often it is said that a side "has the center", but then it ends there without an explanation of why it's an advantage or how it's put to use.
@@insanecarverI have this issue too.
What a great breakdown - one for the long-time fans, dare I say. Your analysis of the opening-to-middlegame decisions just flows so naturally, and certainly leaves many a thing to take away. Thanks Jerry for this ChessNetwork classic!
MVL is really strong. Just won the 2024 Crunchlab Masters with some impressive play. Great watching him in top form
I heard he will face Hans soon in the speed chess event
He’s certainly been on 🔥.
What masterful vision, planning, and use of the bishop's. MVL is a gem.
Thanks again, Jerry.
Very foresighted of MVL to pare things down to possessing the Bishop Pair. And his subsequent use of them was brilliant. Thanks Jerry.
Hi Jerry, it’s everyone

Thank you Jerry! Great video
Thx Jerry 😊
🥇
Wow! Not sure if it was the game or the analysis but this is one of the best I've seen in awhile... And I watch 99% of Jerry's vids
Beautiful, thanks a million for all these great analyses
MVL is indeed a great najdorf especialist
MVL can be very proud of this game, I'm sure!
Most Valuable Legend
What an artfully crafted plan by MVL! It's insane!
Beautiful game! I learn so much from all your videos. Thanks Jerry!
Thanks SuperN 😎
When sicilian najdorf is still playable in super gm level
It would seem MVL can play it whenever he wants. And win!?!?
@@LukeLongboneOfficial sorry, i mean in classical game
It's one of the most popular openings, basically the first choice if you want to play for a win with black against e4
@@JanKowalski-je7qfnot anymore the best tries have been somewhat analysed to a draw
Thanks Jerry, Really useful video !!!
Jerry, you taught me chess 10 years ago and I appreciate everything you've taught me.
When I started following Jerry I couldn't beat a 1000 now I can easily beat a 1700 level player
Keep up the great job 👏
Awesome! Continued success 💪
Wonderful game and explanation.
Thanks.
As a casual chess viewer, I've never really been able to appreciate the power of the bishop pair I hear so much about. This game shows they are, indeed, absolute killers in the right hands.
Nice explanation,thank you sir
Thank you for your analysis
Nice one.
Dang, I almost feel bad for Fabi here. That was a star game.
What a brilliant game
Thanks!
Thank you for the $2.00 bikedoc. Super Thanks! 😎
That final end game and position was nasty. Fantastic positional sacrifice!
Hi there Jerry. It’s a high class waiting move
It's sad to watch a game where a rook never moves from its square, even in the end game. Sad!
Hey Jerry, wanted to ask you for a long time. What Chess interface are you using? Your videos feel like home and I like your piece set/board style of choice. Would like this for my practice board
