So basically, don't waste your money on an AWD for this vehicle? And stick to asphalt??
Awesome! could you also please check out the Tucson Turbo Hybrid please?
Damn the awd sucks, I got one of these now I know to never take if off the pavement lol
in USA when you turn off the traction control system you basically turn off the VSA system which is the system that applies brake force to the free spinning wheel. Just put it in SPORT MODE and keep acceleration steady and let the system figure it out...
Excellent review guys! Looks like Honda CRV's are best suited for asphalt, along with wheel chairs and skate boards. :)
Well… Makes me respect them Subarus. Are you guys going to try a Mini-countryman up this hill?
As soon as we can get our hands on one, we will!
the reason traction control was still flashing is because when you push the button it says "traction control reduced". It doesn't defeat it completely
for off road, go for subaru forester
Just wonder if off-road tires and a small lift would do anything 🤷🏻♂️
Oh no question it would
Think they'll make a trailsport version of the CR-V?
Yes....and plug in and 40 Mile electric range............Perfect.......................Paul
they should...cause its competitor the Rav4 has Rugged Trim.
They need to, with about a 1" lift, less of an overhanging bumper. And make sure it's the same AWD system as the Trailsport Pilot has.
Doesn’t awd mean all the wheels move
I thought there is a different between AWD and 4WD.. AWD is not built for off-roading… no?
If it were a plug-in with an 18 KWH batterie.......Then I'll have one...................Paul
A subie would have ate it for lunch................Paul
Sucks for all other driving though and not as reliable.
And feels like it’s from 2013
Just terrible. I could see this getting stuck in snow easily.
AWD in this car is not effective
Would’ve made it up the hill with proper all-terrains
Incredible off-road performance. Much better than I expected! 👍
Amazing 🤩 💯
I guess this car can not dance either
it is unacceptable. it is an AWD SUV 😢
Nope. It's a crossover.
1st problem is they’re not on proper all terrain or off road tires!
So, if I decided to go off road while driving down the highway, I need to carry a set of offroad tires and change them out as soon as I pull off the highway and then put the road tires back on when I am done offroading? I mean who has time for all that nonsense?

Tires would definitely change the results. It works like a haldex system. The system must detect wheel slippage from all four wheels in order for the clutch to engage and once that happens it must be continuous. Haldex systems are designed for sand and snow only.
I could get it up that hill. This guy's wearing lead clown shoes.
Sure, anyone behind the keyboard “can make it up the hill”.
We report and document the real world results, where we cannot damage the vehicle. Thanks for watching.
These cars are not intended for off-roading so why use them inappropriately?
Comparative analysis
I'm greatly appreciative they tested this. I just bought one of these, and now I have a better understanding of what would happen if I attempted to take my car through something like this. But now I don't have to take a 40,000 car off road just to find out it's limitations
…because it’s awesome
Because if that was flat ground, with snow and ice, you'd be really disappointed that it didn't do better.
The manual says it is designed for light off roading
Ur not doing it right
What a pathetic showing. Might as well not be awd
Garbage! I just lost 75 yrs of respect in 12.5 min. What else are they Fing up? I had an 05 with "Real Time AWD" that would go anywhere!!! Soo sad!!!
I cringe watching you guys abusing the drivetrain on this vehicle. It was never intended to do what you are trying to make it do. The ‘available’ AWD was intended more for wheels that have not been lifted from contact on the road surface. In that regard, you would find the vehicle would acquit itself rather well.
It is not a crossover, but an SUV styled vehicle.
Right, but its an AWD and you know some fool that buys one will go off roading and I appreciate the vids and tests these people do on these vehicles so I know what I want to look for in a vehicle.
