    Great review. Especially appreciated all the written graphics which made the details easier to see/compare. Well done!

    I have the 2019 S model. Nobody needs more than 150 BHP for the road.
    I also think that the old S model, makes for a much better road bike.

      Agreed, the last model 1050R or even the RS is better on the road than this track focused machine. I was waiting to buy the new speed triple but I’m now disappointed that I waited.

    Nice review, Luke. Nice wheelie along the straight too. I can’t wait to get my bum on one soon. As you know I love my Speed Triple 1050 S, and as you said the new model really doesn’t look like a Speed. I will reserve judgment until after my test ride! 😁👍

    how does the firm suspension compare to the Street 765 RS, no one has mentioned that, i ask because i have no issues with my 765RS firmness for the road. hope too get to demo ride one soon.

    My biggest reservation is the styling.
    It's a little old hat now. The Speed Triple should really be the one dictating the design, not just being a copy paste of the Street Triple.
    The lack of bright colour options isn't doing it any favours either.

    I do not doubt that all the motorcyclists on this page have commented that they are capable of taking this powerful machine with its high torque to the maximum limit, considering the engine capacity of the engine and the purposes for which it is intended. It was clear that the biggest desire of the manufacturer is to oppose the competition, which is very fair.
    In the category with the smallest cylinder capacity, considering that today in the world exhibitions of the most famous machines, the nostalgic people who encouraged the factory so much in all these years, deserve a product with a power that should not be critical to compete on the streets and roads, but rather for go out calmly and with a sportiness characteristic of age, which I notice when I open videos referring to these occasions, I find that most of those who look at the engine, sit in the seats, check the weight, have gray hair. This public should be launched its own model, removing the maximum weight, brakes with much smaller discs, tires with a thinner profile for braking in the curves of medium speed, less reinforced suspension, much lower height, handlebars with regulation for riding with plenty of comfort and style as close as possible to the 50s. Launched with a special name, with a very attractive price due to the relief of onboard equipment with greater sophistication, so as not to be abused by the young audience, which has all the adrenaline in each body part. For the majority who are already retired, the options portfolio decreases considerably. Think about that competent Bennetts Bike technical team!

    I'm itching to get a ride on one. Somehow, I don't think I'll be changing my 2020 Speed RS in for the new one. That's too fast for me, so I don't need another 30 BHP, and my bank balance could do with a break from purchasing expensive toys ! Plus I think I'd rather have a bit more "road focus" , which the older one seems to have . Still , I'll reserve my judgement to after a test ride :-D

    • @David40S
      @David40S 3 роки тому

      I have to agree. It's a lot more money, and given the state of the roads where I live, I prefer plush comfort balanced with the power of the older 1050 RS v more power and a rock hard ride.

    • @JDelta87
      @JDelta87 3 роки тому +1

      @@jace2wheel762 I looked into getting some tuning work done to my '19 RS early on but no shops in my area supported the bike. I eventually rode it less and less in favor of my other bike until I got rid of it. Had I been able to get it tuned, it would've probably been in my possession longer.

    • @jace2wheel762
      @jace2wheel762 3 роки тому +1

      @@JDelta87 triumphs fault with the speed triple was they let performance lapse over refinement. They are phenomenal machines! But almost too good and then their power numbers fell short....
      I got a 3rd party warranty to cover my machine as reflashing the ECU definitely voided the factory coverage.
      Other than that? SC project cans, bigger rear sprocket, smaller front sprocket, power commander with custom maps, not touching the internals or tech, those alone boosted my RS from 148 to 167. The rest is retuning the control module. You lose some fuel economy and top end numbers but gain it back with the PC mapping and the extra power with the ecu retune

    • @JDelta87
      @JDelta87 3 роки тому +1

      @@jace2wheel762 Yea, with that standard warranty still valid, no one would touch it and I didn't want to wait another 18 months at the time of owning the bike to be able to modify it. I completely agree with refinement taking over the performance of the bike but I should've known as they were literally pointing out the hundreds of incremental updates they had done on the 1050cc engine with each new iteration of the bike. I did install an aftermarket exhaust as the stock arrow cans were too quiet and the baffle couldn't be removed without some cutting and drilling. It was a very solid bike fit and finish wise with its quality components but the performance restrictions really lessened my time with it. I'm glad to read that you were able to boost the performance out of it and enjoy it to its fullest.

      Throw in a commute too - always a time when you need to ride these bikes in traffic and a sensitive throttle or clutch becomes apparent. That comparison will be very useful for people like me who have been holding out on replacing their current bikes (in my case a 17 S1000R) who are now spoiled for choice but also thinking “great, but is it worth an upgrade?”. Perhaps run a three year old Speed, Tuono or S1000R - I think the progression will be significant

    Love this bike although I do think 🤔 the suspension is far too stiff for everyday, street riding. The bumps really jar. But if you use it for the Sunday blast or the track, in my opinion, that engine is a winner. Would I choose this over the 1290R or the Ducati Streetfighter? Well is there really a bad choice
