I was very surprised to hear MaSu in Yogscast to say the least. I've been a fan of this band for years now. I advise everyone to listen to "need for steve", "skin" and "Conveyor"
How do you think bands get popular? They get sponsored and their music gets put into series/commercials/trailers and so forth. You don't expect people to google "Machinae Supremacy" off the top of their head do you? I, for one, am happy Lewis and Simon have it in some of their videos. Otherwise, I would've never found this amazing band.
I miss the heavy use of SID and more gnarly guitar sound of the web releases. I mean the new songs are sweet but I always come back to the web releases and feels coming back somewhere familiar after a long time
I searched everywhere for this song when I heared it on the yogscast. Never found it. Now I found it on accident a few years later, and now I don't care at all about yogscast. Still happy I found it. :)
I lol'd when they said " robert threw a huge SID-grenade on Crouching camper Hidden sniper " in the MaSu-forum but still it didn't have half the SID that Winterstorm has.
This song always makes me nostalgic for Ulduar period raiding in World of Warcraft. I listened to this song so much while flying around The Storm Peaks that I just cannot think of anything else. It's such an awesome song, and I had to come find it on UA-cam because for some reason it's not included in their tracks on Spotify.
I see a lot of people referring this to the Yogscast... shouldn't it be the other way around? this is way to epic to be recognized into something else... THIS MUSIC IS WHAT SHOULD BE AS WELL-KNOWN :D
I think Lewis listens to this music, or mabey Sparkles* cuz Lewis was the only one singing to this song in their 5th vid of wrath of the fallen and Sparkles* is there audio guy (i think...).
When they play this live, do they play to a click track, or does the synthesist tap tempo to the drums?? Playing with an autoarp (which makes it sound videogamey) would sound bad if it weren't exactly on beat.
@LordXaras That's really unfortunate. So many of the synth rock bands I love are dropping their keytars in favor of preproduced crap. Where is the musicianship?? Gah.
@GreyWolfyutuub Well....I ahd fun playing the game, although it's just a flying from left to right shooter....i enjoyed it and played it 3 times in a row...dunno if i would pay the money afterwards xD...i guess there are other ways of getting the game without having to pay so much :P If you can get it any other way it's worth the 6 hours of playing or so And yes, Megascorcher is the 2nd best song from J'n'G
@blickblocks they don't play the synths live anymore. Gordon, who used to be the one playing the synths live, took over rhythm guitar service when Rob (the vocalist) wanted to focus more on singing and stage presence. These days I believe all the synths are samples running on playback handled by their sound tech guy.
With most bands, if I listen to them too much I become a bit sick of them. Happened with Nickleback. However, with MaSu and Breaking Benjamin, I could (and frequently do) listen to them on repeat all day long. Swedish SID Metal for the win!
