There is not a single note in his works that breaks the rules of harmony which renders all his compositions very amenable and pleasant to listen to. Which of all his works I like the most ? ALL. I LOVE ALL OF THEM. Each and every single one has its own personality, charm and treasure to make our hearts rejoice. Bravo, Maestro Meyerbeer, how much joy you bring to my soul. It's been a miracle meeting you. A humble servus miser who worships you.
Very well put! Agree 100%. Practicing is hard work so a little fun on the side is such a relief. Also check out the HMS Pinafore, a Gilbert and Sullivan classic!! I am smiling wide!

De ahí surgió la idea de crear un nuevo ballet, donde los bailarines harían las veces de patinadores sobre hielo. Para ello tomó y arregló música de los números de danza de las óperas Le Prophete y L'Etoile du Nord del compositor alemán Giacomo Meyerbeer. El ballet, en un solo acto y sin historia dramática que contar, representa una fiesta de patinaje victoriana que tiene lugar en un lago congelado en una noche de invierno. Su primera representación se realizó en Londres el 16 de febrero de 1937, con Margot Fonteyn como principal bailarina, quien mantenía un affaire "de idas y venidas" con el compositor Lambert, pese al nombre de este último. La música corresponde primordialmente a la ópera Le Prophete, cuyo tercer acto se inicia con una escena de ballet que representa a patinadores sobre hielo. La ópera de Meyerbeer, estrenada en París en abril de 1849 también gozó de amplio éxito, hasta las primeras décadas del siglo veinte, cuando comenzaron a verse disminuidas sus representaciones. In this opera's premiere in 1849, the dancers wore a type of primitive inline roller skates, which had been invented in Europe in the previous century, to more convincingly look like they were ice skating (quad roller skates had not yet been invented). In 1937 Constant Lambert arranged the ballet music of this opera and excerpts from the ballet music of L'étoile du nord into the ballet Les Patineurs, choreographed by Sir Frederick Ashton, in which the dancers mimic ice skaters.
