If you want to check out our kayaks, here is the link bit.ly/sportsman_westin_smith the AutoPilot 120 model I’m using is feature rich and allows you to just focus on fishing with a trolling motor equipped with spotlock for those windy days. This isn’t a sponsored post, I just love the kayak.
Glad you had a great time in Anna Maria i’m going there next week during Thanksgiving Staying in Siesta Key I am picking up the boat in Ana Maria that’s where it stays I got to fish one day ..✌🏼🎣🎣
Good al Anna Maria Island, those are my old stomping grounds back before I moved to Tennessee, while you're down there you outta check out Myakka River State park and fish the Upper Myakka lake, there's some real nice large mouth bass out there
While you caught a snook there is probably close to 50 species of fish around that island. Also there is miles and miles of intercoastal waterways all down that coast. From pine Island south to the keys. Finding out about 4-5 species, exact fishing methods for each, structure they hang out in, what to look for on your fish finder, and what baits to use will maximize your day on the water. The shrimp is absolutely a go to for snook but they eat greenbacks and mullet and lady fish and almost anything they can ambush from rocks points docks etc. However you are traveling to where your fishing over alot of other fish, like grass flats you can target reds, holes you can target trout, oyster beds you can target sheep head, beaches you can hit Spanish, tarpon, pampano. under bridges whiting and sheep head, drops red snapper. Etc. There is tons of water people just pass over when they target one fish that holds other fish they would love to catch also. As a fisherman if your just targeting that one fish thats great. But if your really getting into an area set up your fishing before you go get a underwater structure map and depth chart. And set up a direction of travel and then see what structures and fish to target over each part of the path. Because you can spend your whole life fishing in that area. As I have been on that island 1000s of times in my life and realized I was just dumb lucking it fishing because It just takes years for the learning process.
Great video brother. May I suggest you learn how to tie the Alberto knot for your leader connections. Easy to tie and goes through the guides much better than the double uni. Try it out.
Goin next week ! Bump the shrimp or plastic shrimp jigs across the bottom . It’s flounder or fluke season . U have to give them a minute to eat ur bait to set the hook cause of their mouths ...
Awesome video Westin this was different and very enjoyable honestly!!! Switched it up from fresh to salt that’s always cool to see in my opinion all the ocean species you can catch just on bass gear not far out at all
Whoa almost went to bed too soon , gotta big day ahead tomorrow trying to get on my Pb but I'll stay up for this Bro ..keep going my man, you're a freaking beast
Haha you would enjoy it. The initial fight is a lot of fun and you can catch some true giants. I enjoyed it a lot, would be fun to catch them on artificial at some point as well
Hey Westin , I think my dads planning a trip to come to Texas and I wanted to ask if u knew some lakes in Austin that had good fishing. Keep up the fire 🔥 Vida as always
I would reach out to Fishing With Becca cause that’s her jam!!! I would say a 4000 size reel, and main line is where I’m not too sure what’s best but would assume 50lb braid with how big those things can get, and something like a 20lb Fluoro leader. I’m sure for most all of them, something like 30lb mainline to 15 or 20lb leader is fine, but when you get the big ones on the hook I’d be worried
Next time you go saltwater fishing you should go weightless because the bigger snook and trout are smarter and won’t eat if it sinks straight to the bottom

We spread my dads ashes at Anna Maria island in September. One of my favorite spots to fish
Wow! Beautiful place for sure

The first fish you didn't know was a mangrove snapper and the 2nd was a pinfish
Anna Maria island is one of my favorite places to go in Florida.
Where exactly did you launch from?

What line would you recommend for florida fishing on the gulf side?

Some get as big as door mats ...
The silver fish and it’s the blue stripes is a pinfish great bait!
Thank you!
Pins are the best snook bait you can find! Gags also love them. Nice vid love that area!
Awesome video man. Love to see you try new things like this. I’m from FL and catching snook is awesome.
Thanks Gerald 👊🏼 we had an awesome time trying to catch new species out there.
You can gill a flounder to make it easier to hold.
Noted!
Awesome video Westin this was different and very enjoyable honestly!!! Switched it up from fresh to salt that’s always cool to see in my opinion all the ocean species you can catch just on bass gear not far out at all
Thank you! Got lucky with so many new species out there this visit. Learned a lot for sure

Haha thanks man! Back to my late night upload habits possibly 😂 good luck out there 🎣
YESIRRRRRRR
Westinghouse is snook fishing better than fishing for bass and should I try
Haha you would enjoy it. The initial fight is a lot of fun and you can catch some true giants. I enjoyed it a lot, would be fun to catch them on artificial at some point as well
That was a grunt my dude. If it was making goofy noises like that. Im pretty sure that was a grunt you caught second there. Awesome video bro 🤙🤙
Thanks man!
I like that shirt you’re wearing on the into! Is it out yet?
Yes it is!
Second fish was a mangrove snapper. Third was a pinfish. Fourth was a pufferfish 🐡
Thank U!
Yup
He should have used it as bait!
Bruh set the hook lol so gentle with it.
I was gold by everyone out there not to set the hook with the circle hooks
@@WestinSmith ya with circle hooks dont set it at all just reel into it
Hey Westin , I think my dads planning a trip to come to Texas and I wanted to ask if u knew some lakes in Austin that had good fishing. Keep up the fire 🔥 Vida as always
They seem to all have large fish and I would hit all areas, lake Austin by boat, ladybird by bank or kayak, you’ll get on em
I've been thinking of getting a saltwater setup for catching striper up her in New England. Any suggestions?

@@WestinSmith thanks bud. Definitely helpful! Sometimes I work by the coast and figured I give inshore a try.
Second
