I think it's laughable that Trevor tried to make it seem like Koloko and Castleton are on the same level.
Koloko has completed on the NBA level. Castleton doesn't even dominate lesser competition.

Bold of you to assume that he will play on the same level as he did well over a year ago despite not being able to practice during the time since then, let alone against NBA-level competition.
That being said, if he is able to perform at that level, he is an easy choice as the second or third-string center over Castleton.

@@hotice8885 Castleton is skilled. Problem is he lacks athleticism, needs to be stronger and not a good lateral moving big. And lakers have never tried him against real nba bigs to see if he has anything against them.

If he is healthy and can play 85% as good as he was the lakers should move AD back to the 4 n run him as the 5 in a rotation for the 5spot. AD needs to be at the 4. It's not the best way to get him back there but it could work

The Lakers best lineups are with Davis starting at center and playing most of his minutes there. Unless the Lakers get a real center and not "a bruising big" which Koloko isn't btw, then there's no reason to move Davis to PF unless Lebron's on the bench for a few minutes.

Please don't play AD all 12mins of the first quarter like Darvin Ham did.
There should be no reason for AD to have to stay out there that long with a decent roster of bigs to back him up.
One of the worst things Ham did to the Lakers in his years as head coach.

    • @truckerstar24
      @truckerstar24 Місяць тому +3

Right. Ham plan was too obvious. Teams already knew lakers will play in the first Q due to AD playing all 12 minutes. Then they would come out attacking us in the 2nd Q with everything they had and we usually blew a lead or allow the other team to build one. Hoping JJ plays better sequences

The only way the Lakers will ever play a non-shooting C next to AD is if their “shooters” turn into “snipers”. Don’t forget how much shooting was on the team in 2020 & how well AD shot the ball that year. Thats why it worked with McGee out there. It’s all about the shooting. But Koloko is a good signing. I see him as an instant upgrade over Hayes. He is better defensively & is a better rebounder. When I watch him play defense, I think about Victor Wemby. Koloko is a guy I would legitimately feel confident placing on a guy like Wemby or Holmgren. Against bigger stronger guys like Jokic, he won’t be enough but against the brittle, skilled bigs, Koloko will be valuable. Wood is a liability defensively but a plus offensively because he can stretch the floor. Depending on the opponent, either Wood or Koloko should get the non-AD Center minutes for the upcoming season. The prospect of a healthy Lonzo Ball teaming up in the backcourt with D’Angelo Russell is electrifying. Lonzo has demonstrated an exceptional ability to complement star players like LeBron James, and his improved three-point shooting adds a critical dimension to the offense. Imagine the versatility of a starting lineup featuring a lockdown defender who can also stretch the floor-Lonzo’s defensive prowess at the point of attack would be invaluable, creating chaos for opposing offenses while providing space for dynamic scoring.
The synergy between Lonzo and D’Lo could unlock a fluid and engaging style of play, with both players capable of initiating the offense and seamlessly taking turns bringing the ball up the court. Such a partnership would not only enhance individual performances but also elevate the entire team's play.
In contrast, players like Austin Reeves, while talented, are more replaceable within the broader landscape of the league. The potential acquisition of either Lonzo or Ben Simmons-a player with similar defensive capabilities-offers a transformative opportunity. By trading AR15 and some added resources, the team could secure a high-impact player whose skill set better fits the vision of a championship contender. The defensive tenacity and shooting range provided by either player would make a distinct difference, setting the stage for a formidable backcourt that could lead the team to new heights.

Start 1st period: DLo, Austin, Rui, LeBron, AD.
At the 6 minute mark sub in Koloko and Christie for Rui and Austin.
At the 9 minute mark sub in Knecht, Rui and Austin for LeBron, AD, and DLo.
Start 2nd period: Austin, Christie, Knecht, Rui, Koloko.
At the 2 minute mark sub in AD, LeBron, and DLo for Koloko, Rui, and Christie.
At the 6 minute mark sub in Koloko and Christie for Austin and Knecht.
Start 3rd period: DLo, Austin, Rui, LeBron, AD
Use the middle of the 3rd to rest everyone up if you can by relying on guys like Vincent, JHS, and maybe Reddish and Hayes to come in for spot minutes.
End 4th period: DLo, Christie, LeBron, AD, Koloko
That way LeBron only has to expel his energy guarding SF's for one stretch at the end.
Which is when he should have Koloko and AD behind him to cover any mistakes.
Plus if Christie proves he is the B+ defender that can hit open shoots guy he is promised then LeBron might still get away with guarding the other teams bad ballhandler or spot up shooter or non threat.
This is probably only the gameplan for the first part of the season with the idea of upgrading from Koloko at the trade deadline or before. Koloko is a great consolation prize if we dont get a bonafide C though and instead trade for a scoring guard.
