I was there an hour ago, and it was horrifying. I was there at around 22:00 so it was pitch black. Luckily I had a flashlight, so I could the the outline of the waves and were they were, so I kept a solid distance away from them (about 30 meters). Just as I turned around a wave was 1 meter away from me, and that’s when I knew I had to get off of the beach😬
Wonderful post And We beg People to be super careful, deaths are literally on awerage 1 - 2 every year ! Including l last year despite much fever tourists .
When lava contacts water, it cools rapidly and shatters into sand and fragmented debris of various size. Much of the debris is small enough to be considered sand. A large lava flow entering an ocean may produce enough basalt fragments to build a new black sand beach almost overnight. Most of Iceland's black sand beaches are made of basalt, which was created this way, when lava came in contact with water.
WOW!!! 🤩 What a BEAUTIFUL ❤️🥰 video!!! I MIGHT BE going to Iceland in April, so I am doing a lot of reading about it. Already, only one day into my reading, and having bought two tour books on Iceland 🇮🇸, I think 💭 it’s a BEAUTIFUL 😻❤️ , SPECTACULAR, INTERESTING 🧐 COUNTRY!!! ❤️❤️❤️🩹❤️🩹

Looks great! What time of year was this?
Than you, this is late winter/early spring, March or April!
What is the sand made from to give it it’s colour? The rock doesn’t appear to be responsible for the sand.
