(KEEP IN MIND THEY USE THE LEGENDARY SKIN AS A REFERENCE NOT COPYING, they still got to make their own animations separate) -ASU cait takes a lot from pulsefire Caitlyn -ASU Ahri takes a lot from Star Guardian Ahri -Jax definitely took from warrior kingdom jax And Lee Sin is most likely used from storm dragon Lee Sin
they did not need to add a ponytail to damn near every single one, esp storm dragon and zenith games. they were fine the way they were in terms of design. just cleaning it up was fine. storm dragon is my fav (for obvi reasons) and the ponytail ruins it for me *ugh*
I bet it's because they have to keep the shadow the same and since the ponytail is such a big part of the visual clarity in his model now they had to include it in every skin
I know it's too late now, but I wish they went harder on redesigning his main design and his skins, especially older ones, I don't feel much current Ionia aesthetic from default Lee Sin and some skins look a bit odd and could have used some cooler designs for their concepts Although I have a feeling they went very light on redesigned (besides the ponytail) because he is extremely iconic, I had the same feeling for some of Ahri's older skins and her base design as well, and I know it's not a "problem" with ASUs because Jax and Cait had pretty substantial redesigns
All of the extra ponytail additions give off that vibe of a kid who just discovered transition effects in PowerPoint and just can't help but add as many different transitions animations as possible. The ponytail is nice but there are a lot of skins here that really did not need it and it feels like the devs were a little too excited with the tech and added it as much as possible
no it's because that was supposed to be how base lee sin looks like. His ponytail was what helped define his character, like Xin Zhou. It was supposed to be an important part of his character model, but back then they just meshed it into his shoulders and called it a day.
