Like many people, I learned of Smoking Popes when they opened for Morrissey so many years ago....they've done so well, all this great material. Such an underrated band, and stellar songwriting....songs from my 20s.....at almost 50, they are now old friends that evoke such beautiful memories....music is a magic time machine, and the greatest form of art humanity ever developed. Tears in my eyes now. I'm not supposed to have feelings anymore....supposed to be dead inside .....but really that's just an excuse in order to ignore the soul wrenching pain of the day to day as I watch the best years of my life recede further and further into darkness from my rearview mirror in this accursed one way only car. Well, that took a turn south, didn't it.....😃
jesus christ can't believe that's the same drummer from alkaline trio. love both these bands and this song, but this is way too slow and sounds awful imo. so strange.. I was also thinking how much I love the bass tone in this song and thought it compared well to alkaline trio
I heard this band in 1998 for the first time, because a friend lent me a cassette, and I loved listening to them while I was driving, then I lost that cassette, which was from the Destination Faillure album, and today, by ordering my old house I found the cassette ! It's the first time I can see their faces because I forgot what they were called. This is rare and cute at the same time.
This is a great comment! It paints a vivid picture in my head. 1998...21 years ago...where has the time gone? The late 90's were a magical time for me. Tell us more - where were you living and what kind of car was it?!
I was 12 y/o when i first loved their song, born to quit album will always be one of my all time fave, I am now 39 and I love their music more than before.
How have I never heard of these guys before?? Right up my alley and just found them a few weeks ago, and I've heard EVERYTHING from the time period this album came out. Dude's voice has never changed either!
Saw them last Friday here in Portland. It was great. They played this, which is one of my favorites. Everyone in place was singing along with every song. I'm looking forward to their new album and their return to P-landia.

If I could like this song twice, I would.
Love Mike on the drums. Really has his own style. Loved his drumming on Alkaline Trio- From Here to Infirmary

Its too slow/wrong groove. I had to stop listening.
Dedicated their tune "Need You Around" back in 95' to my first high school crush....a red haired petite cutie....ah the memories these guys gave. #90s

wonderful bayside cover! (jk)
Bayside is really good too, and their version is awesome. They don't do it note for note but they put their stamp on it. I think Its amazing.
I like baysides version a lot, i actually heard it first
I came to this because I love bayside, glad to learn about these guys from them.
I used to sing this to my ex wife (a Megan)
Amazing song, but truly awful camera work.
They’re playing it awfully slow.
