- In this video, you join me on a trip aboard Transport For Wales' 'Premier' service from Cardiff Central in South Wales, to Holyhead in Anglesey, North Wales. Our traction is a Class 67 locomotive, with a rake of MK3 coaches and a driving van trailer (DVT). The service offered was absolutely astounding, a fantastic three-course meal was served and the staff were exceptional. Thoroughly recommended! Enjoy!

Lovely video and nicely put together! 🙂
Thank you!
If you book ahead and use a Student/16-25 Railcard, Business Class on the "Gerald of Wales" luxury dining train becomes a surprisingly affordable experience! You can also access the GWR First Class Customer Lounge at Cardiff Central Station or, if you prefer the Welsh language version, Lolfa Dosbarth Cyntaf!
Absolutely brilliant trip report mate! Looks stunning in terms of food and I expect the views are brilliant during the summer too 😊
Thanks mate :)
Very informative. I really enjoyed this.
Thank you Tim 😊
Last times i travelled to Holyhead the last Train left there at 8.37pm far to early for an Important Destination
Holyhead is depressing! But made up for by the dinner! I don’t know any other train companies offering food like that anymore.
A very nice train and a very nice meal on a route where to be honest such a service would not normally be expected.
I assume the cost of the meal is included in the First Class fare. What happens to passengers boarding later in the journey, for example at Hereford. Do they still get fed?
Excellent video! Although heavily-subsidised, this is easily the best railway dining experience in the UK. Just a shame it was filmed in winter so we couldn't enjoy the stunning scenery en route!
I must agree! Certainly the best dining on a train that I have ever experienced. I am yet to do GWR's Pullman dining service and compare it to TfW's Premier service.
