It depends on the weather but normally late fall or early winter. My larger more established trees I prune in dec, my younger trees get trimmed in oct. I watch the weather for the young trees and as long as it looks cool for a week then that’s when I’ll cut. They can be sensitive to sun damage after a prune.
@@WarGardensForVictory what are you talking about? you said the the trees is a lamb Hass so why didn't you graft a lamb on the succor, that way you keep 1 variety .
@@RareAvoTrees I did not think of it that way, that’s a pretty good idea and will consider that next time. Getting ready to plant a lot more trees this upcoming year.
Oh man that was a healthy rootstock, should have taken a branch off your known variety and grafted on a branch of the healthy rootstock...oh well live and learn.
I have had same thing happen with a Lamb Hass and a Pinkerton. Took awhile to realize!
Yeah I just check another tree yesterday and I can see a very low branch starting to grow. I need to snip it off before it grows anymore.
Loving the name change bro! Keep putting it the excellent content. Are you in AZ?
Thank You, I appreciate that. I am not in AZ, I do love AZ but Im in Cali right now.
You should graft some scions on that to have 2 trees
I need to call in the pros for that. I have tried a couple of times and they haven’t made it.
You had to cut off the shoot if it's grafted 😊😊😊
Thanks.
What time of the year do you prune in Cali?

You should of grafted another variety.
I have tried but I am not the best at grafting. Hopefully I get good and then I can make a video about it.
You let it go too long you should have no cut it off you should have cut down to 3 feet and graft lamb hass on succor.
That would be fun but I’m looking for production value on my farm. I feel like having several different types would lessen production.

I should of.

Very true but the main tree produces really good avocados so I don’t need to put another verity on. Thanks for the comment!
Oops
Yup. But at least I caught it and fixed it
