Thank you so much for the video. Couldn't work out how to get Stereo recordings. I'd spent hours trying on my own, another couple of hours looking at comments and reviews online and had given up, reboxed the product and was going to return it! Found your video today, followed what you did and success! Finally got my old home demos on to my laptop and shared with my band mates. Thanks.

Hi, I have had this UFO202 for some time. I just finally finished burning copies of all my cd's to FLAC files for my media player. Now I finally want to make copies of albums that I have, splitting tracks as output files. I have figured out everything so far using this setup. I was wondering instead of having to use headphones through the UFO202, can I split the output RCA cables using a splitter like this RCA splitter I found on Amazon, for cables to go from the turntable into the splitter and then out from the splitter to the UFO202 and also to my regular Denon phono inputs? I hope this makes sense...just would be nice to play and hear the albums through regular speakers too. 2-Way RCA Stereo Audio Switch Input Signal Source Switcher Selector Splitter Box(2 in 1 Out / 1 in 2 Out)-RC21
If you are using the UFO as a preamp no, you could however split the UFO outputs. The audio from the TT if it is Line level may work. But not the best way. More info is needed. The input signals to the UFO should be treated as very delicate.
@@GaryKeepItSimple Thanks for replying so fast. I tried using the outputs of the UFO but didn't sound right. The more I thought about this was just to use (if I can find them) some PC speakers that are AC powered but can just plug into the mini jack output of the UFO. I think this should work.
Pc or powered speakers from the headphones would work . Or you could feed the headphones output to your main amp. The level is adjustable. In the same way as you were feeding from the splitter.
Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm thrilled to hear that the video was easy to follow, even for someone who's not very tech-savvy. Your comment made my day!
For some reason the recording on audacity came out very muddled, quiet, and choppy despite following all the steps in the video. My turntable is a JVC QL-A2 that's still in great shape and plays well along with a new needle and cartridge, so I'm not sure what got lost in translation and went wrong.
I am sorry to hear that, did you have it switched to mm on the input? Is it a mm cartridge you are using. Have you connected the earth lead ? Have you tested the Behringer by recording from a line level source just to make sure it is all working.
@@GaryKeepItSimple It is an mm cartridge for the turntable, and it doesn't have a ground cable. I tried from line level, but didn't get anything. I'm not sure if there's something wrong with the encoder inside. When I put my headphones inside the jack, I heard it perfectly in amazing quality, but the recording in audacity on picks up a certain frequency and it sounds muddied and poor.
@@wanderingmonkvinyl That is strange. I use both the ufo and the uca and they both give superb results. and I have used the ufo with line input also.. It sounds like you may have a duff one.
@@GaryKeepItSimple I found out the issue. Once I disabled the "audio enhancements" from my speaker and the codec, the recording worked just fine. Really strange how that works, but now it's fixed. Thanks for the video.
I do Vinyl and Tape - to Digital transfer for industry clients and I use an out of production Mackie product called U.420d - has super clean neutral phono pre-amps and to Firewire 24/96. I bought a few of them after Mackie sold that divison off they were going for dirt cheap in the early 2010's.. So now I have a few stations I can run at the same time . I have had dropouts occur less than 5 times on thousands of recordings to digital . Very good success rate hardware wise. I messed around with several other products before I settled on the Mackie. It was marketed as a working DJ mixer.. but the cross fader is the pits.. way too small of travel.. just a standard VCO crossfader .. not adjustable like a good DJ mixer. I can mix a solid set on it.. but I would rather not due to the fader sizes - it's best used as a final stage mixer where you are inputting maybe a 8 channel mixer.. some aux mics.. - it can be used very well for podcasts it's got capability to do telephone hook up for live callers - The EQ stage on each channel (4 + 1 firewire input) is excellent as well.. can sweep till frequency range is dead or boosted. It's also a great little Keyboard mixer .. and it has effect sends as well. Good video thanks for sharing.
Im thinking in buying one instead of the ART USB preamp because it sounds too bright, and buy a tube preamp instead. If I connect the preamp to the UFO, will it work? I suppose if I switch it to line. Im new on this stuff so this might be a silly question.
I am not sure what you mean. If you use this you do not need any other preamps. it outputs Line level and USB riaa adjusted. . If you switch it to Line in it will output Line level and USB flat response . You can then feed that into any line-level amp. Tube or Transistor. As you say if you use a Tube pre amp you can feed the signal from that into the UFO at line level and that would give you the softer "TUBE sound" if that is what you are after. You may be better off using a UCA202 which is line in, line out, USB and optical if you want connectivity options. If you click on the link in the description it will take you to the products on Amazon. I hope that helps. Feel free to ask any follow-up questions.
Yes, it can/ No it can't. I shall explain what I mean. It is powered by the USB port from the device it is plugged into. That can include a usb hub. But it will not work from a simple USB power supply ( phone charger). The Computer or device must be active for it to work. You do not need to be using the UFO202 to export on USB it just needs to be plugged in. The analogue line level outputs are available all the time it is plugged into an active USB. We use a UCA222 for streaming and do as I suggest. Power from a computer (Ideal for Zoom calls) and feed the analogue outputs to an android tablet for streaming. I hope that helps. Get back to me if you want any clarification.
First of all thanks very much for your time answering me. Now, I'm sorry but I might be a bit confused. So you mean plugging the UFO 202 into a phone charger will NOT work? So it is absolutely necessary to plug it into a computer for the UFO 202 to work.. Did I get that right? Let's say, for instance, I just want to listen to some vinyl record. So I must connect the RCA cables from my turntable (and the ground wire, of course) into UFO 202 and the RCA outputs from UFO 202 to my amplifier... But in order for all this setup to work and bring music to my ears, the UFO unit must be necessarily plugged into a computer even if at that moment Im not going to digitize any record? Did I get it right? Thanks in advance
Thank you for this video! However, there is one small comment you made which is not correct. Most, probably all USB (male prongs) have an easily & readily identifiable front & back or top & bottom. Top side has no seam. Bottom side has a seam with two inserts. Otherwise, great job.
95% of the time the usb logo on the plug will face upwards to ensure you get it the right way up. Some cheaper usb devices won't have the logo on the plug though.
I have had one for about 5 or 6yrs and had no problems until I bought a new laptop computer with Windows 11...it does not recognize the unit at all and will not pair up with it. People should know this. Maybe someone knows a work around?
I am running windows 11 home 64 bit and it worked first time. The behringer website has stuff to download. Worth looking there. And maybe worth doing a driver search. Let me know how you get on. 👍
@@carlosw1687 Windows 11 is just more problems. They seem to be doing updates every few days and things just stop working. I am not a great fan of W11. It is fab when it works but it is doing stuff in the background so much of the time.
