My Favourite Festival In The Philippines - Kaamulan (Part 2)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Kaamulan isn't just dancing, music and culture... It is a learning experience.
Standing on the main road in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, I was overwhelmed with what I was witnessing. This really wasn't a "Mardi Gras" style festival, but a deeply passionate display of ones identity, pride and culture. Did you know that just to perform, many of the tribal groups actually had to ask permission from elders. There is no drinking, no glamorizing and complete respect in the way they perform their storytelling and dancing.
EVERYTHING you witness has purpose to it...
This is just a little footage I had from March 25th. It will never do any justice to the performances, but I hope it gives you a glimpse of what this Festival is all about!
POWER ON!

Great video and amazing message! I too am a Canadian in love with the Philippines! My last trip there it was festival season, but I never had the chance to actually see one! I hope on my next trip I get to see some of this! It looks so amazing! You are so right in saying that the place is fantastic, but its the people that make it what it is. The people of the Philippines are second to none. Such great people with huge hearts. I'm looking forward to more trips there.
Thank you very much for your generosity! I am originally from Luzon and now living in the U.S. The actual experience that you have of the Philippine culture is far more valuable than what I have learned from reading my textbooks from grade school thru college. I was totally elated watching the festivities via your vlog! Absolutely, you have made a lot of us become better persons. Thank you FOR BEING YOU!!! God Bless!
Thank YOU so much for being part of a culture that has inspired so much happiness in my life.
Kyle Jennermann I am also from Luzon and my family and moved to Australia when I was 20. I have never been to any festivals in the Philippines, I'm happy I get to see it here on your channel. Thanks for appreciating the Filipino culture :)
I've been living here in Europe ( Switzerland/Italy) for 32 years now; visiting Philippines every 2/3 years but never had a chance to witness such a beautiful FESTIVAL. This video made me cry realizing there are so many things I missed from my root country. I will be visiting the Philippines from May 11 - June 27; anyone there who could tell me where to attend such festival during my stay? I would greatly appreciate any indication. As I mention before, you are truly an inspiration, Kyle. Thank you so
much...
Geronima Chavez for this year Kaamulan 2019 is March 25-April25. You can visit here. Well help to tour around bukidnon!
When I bumped into Kulas in a grocery shop in Cagayan, I told him he did a good job showing the beautiful places of the country. But I was even more adamant to explain that Mindanao has so much to offer in terms of culture and nature per se. A lot of people, whether foreign or local, are afraid to discover MINDANAO because of terrorism and kidnappings. But that's not totally the case, it is safe to roam around the island. In fact, Davao, Cagayan, Surigao, Bukidnon are just one of the few places that will leave you in awe once you discover them.
Good bumping into you Kulas. and I know how much impact you have done to our country, showing the world who and how we are as filipinos despite all the hate and destruction around the world. I hope we do as much impact in your life as well. Kudos!
Thank YOU for saying hello if we crossed paths in the grocery :)... I love to have little positive chit chats! Inspiring!
I joined kaamulan street dancing way back in 2013 and we won 2nd place. We represented Bukidnon tribe from Valencia City. I'm still high school student back then. Kaamulan festival is really amazing. Imagine all tribes come together to celebrate.
That's awesome :)... such a great event!
I spent 1 month in CDO ( October 2014 ) it was the best vacation of my life! I absolutely love the Philippines, it's people and culture! if everyone in this world treated each other as most of the people in the Philippines treat people, what a great world it would be
Yes, Truly the most enjoyable festival of seven ethnic tribal communities. Simply heart touching experience. Thanks for sharing.
Power On :).. diversity is beautiful!
My respect for you Kulas, thank you for the love you shared to everybody. My salute bro. Mao na diha, APIR bay.
your so great kulas, even if you are not aFilipino but your promoting a tourism and a culture of a 7 tribes of Bukidnon, watching here in Qatar ,,thank you Sir kulas your so Great
Wishing you a beautiful day in Qatar! Power on and come home soon :)
oh my gosh soo awesome, I myself belong to the indigenous peoples of the cordillera region in northern Luzon Philippines, seeing these make me feel homesick more, we also keep our tradition and culture, proudly performing our dances during special events like festivals & wedding ceremonies, also wearing our traditional clothes similar to these tribes..Thank you Kyle for sharing these priceless adventures, you're my adopted filipino brother as well as a Canadian countryman, I'm so proud of you, we live in the same province here in Canada.
kulas, you promote the Philippines much better than any Filipino-born and you have toured more than me, have seen every tourist spots more than any Filipinos living in their high-walled cctv secured mansions who unfortunately love foreign destinations than their very own Philippine tourist spots. thank you Kulas for loving Philippines
you're a true filipino to me kulas.thank you for showing to the whole world who we really are.how i wish all filipino will be like you..keep it up bro.God bless you and your family..
wow! I'm from iloilo and I love our dinagyang. But watching this gave me goosebumps. Those participating were really from an ethnic group and their dance is from their tribe. this is the real thing.
Maria Santiago
i love you kulas for being there in the Philippines..my lovely country.....I'm so proud of you ...with love from London
I heard of Ati Atihan, Sinulog, Mascara and among others but I never heard of Kaamulan, not until lately when Kulas posted this amazing festival. That's maybe because most Filipinos isolated Mindanao because of fear and ignorance. There's no denying too, that Kulas' videos helped create some fresh air among Filipinos, in terms of our concept of Mindanao. You have my respsect, Kulas!
I have seen kaamulan twice while I was assigned in CDO. Its really so cool that you are showing this to the world. You rock Kulas (Kyle)! Suroy-suroy pa more!
kulas you will be the most effective and influential ambassador of the philippines!! thanks for sharing our culture! apir! You are correct. i've been to mindanao in different areas and it is one of the best places i have been to. Mainstream news media keeps on messing the real status of the country particularly mindanao that is why i stopped watching tv.
Thank YOU for spreading happiness and sharing that about Mindanao :)

Very, very beautiful.I got emotional watching this video.Thank you soooooo much Kulas. You made us so proud to be Filipinos. Hi Kulas... just wanted to say thank you for giving much love to our country. As a Canadian, having our flag on your background is super awesome!. Can't imagine us doing that due to the corrupt government getting worse and worse and seeing bad things everyday makes me sad about my country. Don't get me wrong, I love my country so much, and as i watch your videos, my faith in my country is being restored. I can't travel as often because i work 9 hours a day but because of you, i can see how beautiful my country truly is. I miss staying at my lola's house back in south cotabato... Again, thank you so much. Hope to see more! Kudos. #videospamore! lol

Hi kyle, your videos are just a wake up call to every filipinos including myself that we have missed a lot of good things in our country. No one has ever done such marvelous kind of presentation, showing our countries vast and rich culture and even though we are separated by islands and differs in ethnic cultures from each other we can still be united by LOVE and COMPASSION and the beauty of our country.Kyle your way of vlogging about our country have eased doubts, worries and bad impression to our country specially to Mindanao. To my fellow filipinos out there who wants to inflict terror and disunity, its about time for us to be united and share the love and blessings God has bestowed to our country and its people. We owe you a lot kyle.Thank you for being a part of us.Pinoy na pinoy,AYOS.
