My mother was physically and emotionally abusive to me all my life, so when sexual abuse from outside my family started when I was 5 and ended when I was 17, I was too terrified of her to tell her. I know for a fact that if I had told her, she would have beaten me and told me it was my fault. To know that your home and the outside world are two of the most dangerous places for a young girl is no way to live. When this woman screamed at being vindicated, I broke into tears. I know how she feels and what it's like to carry that. I hope she is doing well.
