  • Peterson Mwambura Muiruri was born on the 9th of September, 1957, in the peaceful village of Gacharage. He came into the world as the child of two loving and hardworking parents Hannah Njoki and Mwangi Muiriri Njau, who gave him a strong foundation in life.
    Growing up in Gacharage, Peterson was surrounded by a large, tight-knit family. He had many siblings who were his companions through both the joys and challenges of childhood. His brothers and sisters included Henry Njau, Mary Muthoni, Davis Muthura, Johnson Gitonga, Jane Wairimu, Samuel Nganga, Gladis Njeri, and Moses Wagocho. Together, they shared laughter, lessons, and life experiences that would shape each of them in their own way.
    Peterson Mwambura Muiruri’s journey through education began in 1964 when he first set foot in Muiria Primary School. The small school marked the beginning of his academic adventure. Like many children of his generation, he worked hard, learning the fundamentals that would shape his future. His dedication paid off when he completed his CPE (Certificate of Primary Education) in 1973, a milestone that opened new doors for him.
    In 1974, Peterson moved on to Njiiri School, a pivotal step in his educational path. The next few years were filled with growth, challenges, and new experiences. In 1977, he sat for his O-Level exams, completing this stage of his secondary education with determination and focus.
    But Peterson wasn’t done yet. His thirst for knowledge continued, and in 1978, he enrolled in Form Five to further his studies. After a year of hard work, he sat for his A-Level exams in 1979, reaching another significant educational milestone.
    His academic journey didn’t stop there. With a passion for teaching, Peterson pursued his dream of becoming an educator. In 1987, he joined Kamwenja Teachers College in Nyeri, where he honed his teaching skills and deepened his understanding of education. After two years of dedication, he graduated in 1989 with a Diploma in Education, ready to step into make a difference in the lives of many young students.
    Peterson Mwambura Muiruri’s career in education began in 1980, when he took on the role of an untrained teacher at Naivasha Secondary School. It was here that Peterson first put his passion for teaching into practice, working with students and gaining invaluable experience. In 1983, he moved to Maganjo Secondary School, where he continued to share his knowledge and shape the lives of young learners. His time at Maganjo lasted until 1986, marking the early years of his long journey in education.
    In Peterson’s career came in 1989, when he transitioned into a more formal teaching role as a trained educator at Ndugamano Primary School. It was here that he began to fully embrace professionalism in the teaching field. He then moved on to Karinga Primary School, Matu Primary, and eventually to Muiria Primary School, continuing to build a reputation as a dedicated and skilled teacher.
    In 1997, Peterson’s career took another important step forward when he was appointed Deputy Headteacher at Gikigie Primary School, a role he held until 1999. His leadership skills and commitment to education shone through during this period, setting the stage for his next chapter. In 1999, he returned to Muiria Primary School as Deputy Headteacher, a position he held until 2003.
    In May 2003, Peterson was appointed Headteacher of Gikigie Primary School. As Headteacher, his vision and leadership truly came to life. He founded Njoguini Primary School during his tenure, successfully managing both Gikigie and Njoguini Primary simultaneously. Under his guidance, Njoguini Primary School grew significantly, now serving more than 400 students a testament to his dedication and hard work. He also played a crucial role in the founding of Gikigie Secondary School, which now serves over 300 students.
    Peterson continued to make an impact in education until his well-deserved retirement in September 2017. His legacy as an educator extends beyond the classrooms. it is etched in the schools he helped establish and the countless students whose lives he has impacted over the years. His years of service were marked by dedication, vision, and a deep commitment to the advancement of education in his community. His retirement did not mark the end of his influence, as the schools he founded and nurtured continue to thrive, carrying forward his legacy of educational excellence.
    Peterson meet his Lovely and cherished wife Nancy Wakonyo Mwambura. They got married in 1984 marking the beginning of a beautiful journey, Their marriage was solemnized through a wedding on 22nd December 2002 at ACC& S Muiria church.Their legacy lives on through their kids Oscar Muiruri, Abel Gichua, Anne Wanjiru, Henry Njau, Wilson Mwangi, and Leah Mwihaki. As well as through the joy of being grandparents to Brian, Alice, Newton, Ivy, Victor and Abigale.
