Rasmus is staring at Martin's hair and making faces, Martin is trying not to laugh, Rasmus makes his hair more like Martin's then messes with Jakob's hair, and while all this silliness is going on, singing perfection!
Love them all even if they were bald. I’d bring them all home and adopt as grandsons. I’m a Ninty-one year-old grandmother and I really love these guys.
I have to say, Martin's hair is an excellent example of sprezzatura (effortless style). It might be kinda out there for many people, but it makes a statement and he makes it work for him, and I think it looks good on him. Not for everyone, but I think it works. I have to say, though, I think his hair in the Notre Dame medley was better than his hairdo here.
I went digging in my old CDs. I didn't think anyone could outdo Bluegrass Student Union. But they did. Is there NOTHING these kids can't do REALLY WELL?
rogerdotlee Sorry. Have to disagree. I had this window open from another video that just continued into this. I was in another window doing something else, and had no idea who I was listening to but I would NEVER have put them as international champs from what I was hearing. They aren't even close to BSU, never mind a group like Realtime or Vocal Spectrum. Their last chord was tight no doubt, but they don't have the blend like other champs in the last 5 or 6 years.
guibox3 Well, you're entitled to your opinion, of course, but having actually heard this live, I can tell you that a PC speaker, regardless of how many subwoofers one might have attached, doesn't do justice to the live performance. Once you can come up with a live version of BSU doing this, we might have something to compare. Or Realtime, for that matter. I guess it's fortunate for Ringmasters that BSU, Realtime, and Vocal Spectrum weren't competing when they won, isn't it?
While the very first chord is 'off' (for whatever value of 'off' you're referring to), there are far more problems with the BSU version (including but not limited to serious mix problems). Having listened to both repeatedly, I'm afraid I'm going to have to award this round to Ringmasters. However, if you can come up with a live version from BSU or a studio version from Ringmasters, I'll be delighted to reassess the ruling.
Me? Shut up? Don't be absurd. I'm easily amused. Besides, I'm all about comparing apples to apples, and not because of a childhood incident involving a very large orange mascot and a pool of lime jello (the 60s were an odd time)!
I just listened to the 2015 champs, Instant Classic? Now THEY have a comparable sound to the champs of the last 10 years and I was blown away by their sound. Definitely better than these guys here.
Ringmasters. Mills Brothers. Waesche. Dang. Probably don't need to explain any further! You'll know why we're excited to see the 2012 Champs on the AIC Show and other venues at Pittsburgh. #BHSPBGH ua-cam.com/video/JZSIj5Is_T8/v-deo.html&LiveWire+2015-05-07&LW_2015-05-07&
It's Bluegrass Student Union's arrangement from a ways back. I haven't seen anyone edit it, though someone could always make a different medley with different songs. I also wanted to see Coney Island Washboard.
Love Ringmasters. And this Mills Brothers medley is one of my favorites. But they seem slightly off in this performance. I've heard them do it better. Their blend is not quite right. The bass wobbles at the end. The tenor coughs after they're done. The whole thing seems like a struggle this night. Now, a Ringmasters "struggle" is what many groups can only dream of. But for these guys, it's an off night.
@@schmackuskaktus1128 Yeah, that's one way to interpret it. But it can also easily be seen as saying that they'd rather have a partner who looks pretty but doesn't think for herself than someone who is independent. Of course, I don't accuse Ringmasters of thinking that, the song just bothers me a bit.
@@duskmallow Accusing Ringmasters here would also serve nothing as that song was written by the Mills Brothers and the medley arranged for (by?) Bluegrass Student Union sometime in the 70's or so. :))
I cannot believe my ears. They cannot even keep a tune. And to even place them in the same sentence as the Mills Brothers is an insult. No one can even come close to the Mills Brothers.
Regina Maraist Disagree. What the hell are you listening too?? They are crazy in tune. Just barbershop style, dominant 7ths and stuff that you might not be used to. Plus, they arent the Mills Brothers. Dont bag on people with your trashy ass opinion.
Regina Maraist 3 white guys that the Mills Brothers would be impressed. You can listen to the Mills Brothers version on mu channel and compare. Stephen Moorlag - I'll See You In My Dreams -----------It is all about style. We all have a different style
I think the point is that this group seems very straight and they sing with a bit too much rubato for the typical groove and swing the Mills Brothers got into so easily.

3:36 the shake on the word “nevermind” is soooo cool
Agreed. I can't stop replaying that part
Ikr, wish more quartets would do that
right?? it seems to be a thing they do a lot but no one ever talks about it
I think Martin's hair style is interesting and looks good on him...definitely he will be easily remembered!
I think the Mills bothers would be very pleased to think they are remembered so many years on and by young performers as well. Enjoyed that thanks.
The last chord might be the best chord I've ever heard in barbershop. Perfect pitch, blend, and volume. All I hear are overtones.
My favorite has to be by them, but on their Notre Dame medley
Gave me goosebumps!
@theREALJeffArians yep it’s a beauty
Martin's hair notwithstanding, this has got to be one of the best charts ever.
I love this quartet they lock so well it's amazing
Great lock and ring, nearly pitch-perfect. Lots of fun to watch. Great group.
There is absolutely nothing better than Barbershop harmony.

When they did the ya da la da and cut to Martin's solo it was in awe
*i
Loved this since BSU did it in the 80's. Great job guys.
3:57 the cleanest unison i’ve hesrd done with this part of any other quartet
So satisfying!
3:44 3:48
I have watched this many times and I just love when the video goes dark but you can still hear Rasmus (I think) laughing about Martin's "egg."
Emanuel's reaction is also pretty good: 5:48
I support Martin's hair
Well, SOMETHING'S supporting it.
it defies gravity
Donald Trump could try it, for a new look.
@@SueDNim I guess you could say his hair makes him a pretty stand up guy huh
Martin’s hair doesn’t need any support…… it stands alone😅!
SO good! I love your voices and with your stage presence, there isn't a dull moment.
Rasmus face expression towards martins hair was hilarious 😂
Epic!!!
Thanks for representing Dayton's BEST brothers.
I so friggin' LOVE this!
This is super charming.
Excellent! Loved it! I need to get back in a Barber Shop Group! I love the Bass Singer's hairdo!
0:30 Rasmus looking at Martin's hair XD

Fantastic! 👏👏 Pure, beautiful harmony, without gimmicks or stupid attempts at "comedy". Very well done - you're the best I've seen on youtube.

Where's the rest of the performance guys? Looks like they sang other songs before and after this.... Please put them up if you have them, thanks! xx
I found that missing Tribble that was lost from the 60's.
martin and rasmus so in sync 01:12 for a second i thought rasmus just had an extra long arm
amaznig
I wish I could pull off Martins epic hair!
Wonderful Barbershop Harmony!
Dammit. Who let Jim on stage?
McKoyjb Just try keeping him OFF stage. This IS Jim we're talking about....
Please someone do Mill's Brothers' version of Caravan!
Surprised they didn't do "Til Then" as part of the medley .

I want Martin to my dad.
nice job
Loved this one.
bravi!
What ever happened to Martin?
He left the quartet to focus on family, he's been replaced by Ringmaster's new wonderful bass, Didier
I adore Martin, but I don't get the hair. It was pretty funny when the guy from Storm Front put an egg in it, though

A bit of vocal fatigue maybe, travelling from Sweden, lots of performances , still great though
Crazy hair! Haha.
Something about Mary...and Nancy boy.
The paper doll part always bothers me... It's literally saying you'd rather have an object than an actual person as your partner
It's metaphorical. They're saying they'd rather have no real partner than an unfaithful one.
