I recall this pattern was one of the first things I learned on bass about 100 years ago--well it seems that long. I later came to call it the "What'd I Say" riff. It fits so many songs.
Fricken' awesome! Seriously though. what I really like is your coverage of theory long with practice along with practical application in such a short video.
Hi Greg...great lesson, and eight iconic bass lines highlighting the pattern. Some lines that people might identify with, using this pattern, Lenny Kravitz Are you gonna go my way...Led Zep Whole Lotta Love...A shed load of Blues and Jazz lines and finally (tongue in cheek) most of Mr...James Brownnnnnn!! Keep groovin Greg😁👍
I was just talking about this today. Got some things in the pipeline for later on in Feb. Currently out of the country on a tour in France and then I'm launching my British Blues Bass Course in early feb. Then I'll be ready for a live session!
BMW was in set of first gig I did in 1975! I've been over using this pattern for years...I guess many turnarounds go V7 to the I so it's an obvious place to start?
Funciona para acordes menores y dominantes, pero no para acordes mayores de séptima. Entonces, en la clave de D, por ejemplo, puede usar este patrón para Dm7 y D7, pero no Dmaj7.

What a tune and good example of this pattern!
Very popular blues pattern, I play at least 25 songs with this pattern.
Yep!
Just came across your channel today. I really liked it. I liked, subscribed, and shared with a friend.
Thanks Mark and really appreciate you sharing the channel as that helps me out massively 👍
Greg thank you so much! Your teaching is so to the point and useful!
You're very welcome Cindy!
thanks greg. "simple" stuff but highly underrated. Sounds so good to the ear, so one can never go wrong. It's the groove and pocket that matters.
Very true!
Hi, Thanks good conseille in lesson Greg !!!!!
Glad you liked it Gilles!

Wow, thanks Victor! I have been gradually distilling my lessons to fit in as much as possible so I'm glad I'm hitting the mark.
I play in a touring acid blues band and Greg is right - I play this pattern all the time!
Great James. But I've never heard of Acid Blues - please enlighten me! 😀
Love this pattern Greg especially the blues shuffle riff. Thanks for another fun and useful lesson.
My pleasure!
Thanks again Greg!
Thanks. You’re working through them! 😀
Greg, thanks! Love this Dominant patter. Looking forward to the British Blues course!
It’s great isn’t it!
I’m about to announce British Blues Week which will start on Monday 20th Feb. You heard it here first! 😎

Keep groovin Greg😁👍
Nice, good choices there Bryn!
Have a great weekend. I'm groovin' in Lyon tonight with Queen Symphonic!
Use this shape a lot in my playing 😊
It's very useful isn't it Mike.
@@GregsBassShed. It's a very useful pattern Greg. It works very well when creating 1-4-5 progression bass lines 😉👍
Fine work sir, nice one!
Thank you! Cheers!
We got the beat. Gogos
Yep, it's there in the main groove 👍
greg are you going to be doing a live stream anytime soon?

Yes it's certainly a good bass line to demonstrate this pattern.
Es solo para acordes menores ? O acordes mayores también
Funciona para acordes menores y dominantes, pero no para acordes mayores de séptima.

I can hear the Billy Jean bass line in there... Sure it uses similar pattern
Yes, that uses the root, flat 7th and 5th, along with the 6th.
@@GregsBassShed Ah cool! Thanks for the response and for creating the video for us.
Quincy Jones Walking In Space
Great one, love that tune!
The Beat Goes On sounds like it uses this pattern.........
Yep! Good one 👍
The fret diagram is the other way around to the playing :(
You look at the fret diagram the same way as you look at your bass fretboard when you are playing, then it works fine.
At 3:34 there are a mistake,aren't there?
