Really like the voice over. I find it easier to focus on what's going on in the video because I don't have to read subtitles, and your voice is nice to listen to.

well since i’ve watched both, might as well start from the top, the only weak bits for me were the traveling parts that had to be sped up and weren’t like the super cool fast paced switching techs at the end of this - i loved that, i’m definably playing around with them later, the music i’m iffy about, i perfer your voice over them, so maybe turn down the music a bit, but that’s just my opinion, and i’m definally inspired to remake an old tech, it’s this mainly hawkeye tech which is a airship witch dies really easy because bigger gyros didn’t exist, still on the workshop lol. anyways, sorry about wall of text, looking forward to your new creations and episodes!

Ik I'm late but I love how they deliberately left it in as a feature for more creative tech designs and uses, others wouldve patched it but payload studios is amazing for keeping this feature in!
Thanks! I was hoping to do it all in one take, but that was way too ambitious. Had to make a couple of cuts and careful editing to try and smooth the reload & continuations. I think I'll have to post that section to the devs Community Core submission thread and maybe Twitter....

Instead of W and S for foreword and reverse, A and D for steering, I like to have my other vehicle games keybound with 2, X, and 1 & 3 for steering. This spreads my hand out while adding my reliable thumb comfortably on X. My pinky is raised a bit too far from the shift and control keys, but this is a good alternative control if WSAD are already occupied. Terra Tech won’t currently allow such key binding, but I wonder if this could be encouraged into use. X is currently for exploding bolts, but I would like B better (but I am not able to do that yet) (B for “blast”)

For the Hover Race near the middle of the race, I had a similar over-the-mountain experience. I used the Scorpion Mk. 2 (I think it was an AI hover harvester by Falchion), and at the last gate the tech refused to pitch down and I got stuck. However, the Mk. 2 worked a lot better than the one sold by the Hubl, when I added a BF Stabilizing Computer. - Revolver265 Edit: nice transitions with the Swap Tech feature, showing off all your cool gear!
It was originally going to be crammed all into one episode, but it ended up too much, even for me! I thought that two 20 min episodes would be more palatable and easier to find what you're looking for.🙂
okay, that ending cracked me up xD On a more serious note, it is nice to see the community work together to produce content to promote the how fun the game can be. And I also prefer the voiceover. If it is not more effort than writing captions, the way you have done it gives a professional feel to the video.

It is actually kinda more fun to voice it, even if it's a huge amount of work for me, compared to UA-camrs who can reliably speak words fluently; each sentence in these videos took me an average of 4-5 attempts to get it adequately close to what I wanted...😵 Wish I had the energy to plan and organise a bunch more proper community collaborations. Preferably not as much work as the Great Ball contraption, though!
Yeah, I hope I showed the smaller ones well enough that other players can make them from scratch themselves. I did get a bit carried away showing different examples, so I don't think I'll post *all* of them to the workshop...😊
If I had a computer capable of playing more than half a browser game, I’d probably use all your designs, it seems like you have a knack for quick variations in designs and it makes me think you’re an engineer in some way

Do you think it hurts the entertainment value to reference another UA-camr like that? I'd not even thought about viewer immersion, in this regard. My main worry is that a bunch of my viewers won't have a clue who he is, so it will sound weird. But then possibly most of the viewers on this video have come over from the one of his where he linked over here. :-)

Love that Payload is trying to treat the hover "bug" as Re-Logic treated the HOIK by unofficially legitimizing it. The HOIK allowed for SO MANY great things and I forsee the hover bug doing the same.
Sure, it already has. It's been around for a good long while, now. 🙂 But I do think the devs are committed to trying to replace it with legitimate blocks. The community manager keeps asking out loud whether it's just a little too powerful, softening up the ground or whatever. I think mostly it will depend upon if they have the coder time to actually implement the new things and changes, when they have always been short of that, for the last 2 years at least.

Gosh darn! I really did! Despite re-watching it many times... And it's a nice idea, but I can't see any kind of collaboration on the horizons for us. We each like to do our own things, for various reasons. I'm a useless blithering idiot at real time creative game play and sleep at all different, wrong times, all the times, etc. If I can think of some more limited project, I might approach him again, but I couldn't manage to engage him for the GBC build, previously.
Any plans in the future to start a new season in normal speed where you're talking while you're playing? Now that we know you can talk, this changes the game. I learned so much from this video alone, not to mention all of your videos.
Thanks. Great to hear. Unfortunately I still can't really talk, no in real time. These videos were really a product of smoke and mirrors editing - each sentence was recorded separately and took an average of 4 takes to get roughly right. Me trying to voice over as I play would be an extremely drawn out and painful experience of mumbling and pregnant pauses... 😳

If you mean the start of campaign? That doesn't take long at all, if you have a rough idea of what's going on. You could be up to this level within5-6 hours of game-play, easy.🙂

Next video is mid-way through production. Many unfortunate delays, as is usual. "BR", you mean BF, better future? There's the anti-grav race tech too, at BF level 2, sure. Not sure if I'll show that particularly, will see if I have a reason to. Maybe when I come to explain anti-grav power consumption, etc, once the devs have settled on what it's going to be, for sure. Drifting vehicles. Some time. Maybe after... 5 more episodes... Geez, that could be a while!
With the awesome hover bike at the end, I downloaded it and it was workling great. then like 5 mins later I respawned it straight from the steam link, and it just shot straight up into the air? now it wont stop doing it every time I swap to it, any help?
I remember other's mentioning this issue. I don't remember if it's just a bug (like it'll go away on restart) or needs the control schema reworking. Then resaving... Sorry, try having a fiddle and let us know.
So I tried to copy and pasting in the .png for the ultimate chassis into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TerraTech Beta\Cache, but noticed that the .tdc file that everything else in the cache folder has. What am I doing wrong?

One of these spawned as an enemy in my world as a mission and it was crazy fast. It did fly into space above me when I broke of a piece though, so I failed the mission.
We need Better Future normal spawn enemies. The only thoughts I have for why they aren’t there yet are: • Not enough variety in enemy design yet • it may be part of the lore bits, since this game does have a sprinkle of story; better future being a more reserved corporation, with enemy techs actually being sent by them alone to profit off destroying unlucky customers who purchase their overpriced vehicles. Of course a few blocks are lost, but this dastardly deed of consumer manipulation seems to fit perfectly with an eccentric ultra-profiting subscription-based company (*cough* Apple *cough* Aperture Science *cough cough!*)
For sure, be great when we can see some more turn up randomly. The enemy population and spawning in general certainly needs an overhaul and a lot of love. Better Future blocks aren't even all finished yet. Hoping there will be another round of community submissions to a community core stream thread when they are ready. Also, BF techs are very expensive, and I think that counts against them when the game's determining what to throw at you (outside of mission enemies). It doesn't like giving your hard enemies much. Mostly just dissapointing trash. And there's a lot of old, legacy builds in there, too.
there's been an update at some point, where if you press forwards in the build beam, the tech goes in the direction the cab's facing instead of the camera, making triple or quad miners way harder to set up. I'm asking if you have a way to work around it because it's pretty annoying, otherwise we just have to roll with it.
There was, indeed. I gave the devs feedback on this and managed to get strafe controls added to the build beam on [Q] and [E] by default. Do these help you? I don't thik it says anything about these in game, so most won't know...

That's a png snapshot from the official forum. If you put it in the snapshots folder, it should (still, as far as i know) show up in the tech loading menu. On Windows, the folder should be somewhere like: "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\TerraTech\[LONG_NUMBER]\Snapshots". But mostly you'd just subscribe to items from the Steam workshop. I don't think console has these options, as far as I know. OK?
Nice voiceover loved it. But can u make a step by step tutorial on how to make the tron mini. Im bad at replicating. And i cant download it from steam workshop
It has a Better Future Active Gyro inside (lower middle), with HE straight bike wheels on it, front and back. Then a Venture repair bubble on the top of that, and every other block can be cleary seen from the outside, just pausing the video or whatever. Go on, I'm sure it'll fall into place, just give it a go and see how it handles. If you accidentally change a little detail maybe it will even work out more interesting.😉
@@ZeroGravitas i could't do the mission with any hover or ground tech i was given, so i waited until i had antigrav stuff (which was a grade 2 mission)
@@zoe1495 - oh, I see. So you just did the other missions to get to level 2 without having to complete the hover races. Still smart. And it's validating for me to know that players really are having difficulty with these missions; i'm glad a made videos on this.🙂
For sure. It's taking the devs a while, like I mention in the previous episode. Could be ~2-3months from now. They may want to get Better Future mostly finished, with the blocks, missions, etc, plus maybe co-op creative, which could take some extra work on console. I'm sure they want these to be fully functional for console release.🙂
If you have a Steam account you just log in, click subscribe and then it shows up in-game in the tech loader, under the Steam tab. If not, then you can download the .zip file linked in the video description that has all the tech snapshots in there as .png files. OK? Let me know how you get on. :-)
As far as I know, the hover-bug was never removed. Since so many builds used it. There can be differences in the exact behaviour, if one uses a different control schema setup, or has another temporary glitch happen to it, I think I've heard.

Love that Payload is trying to treat the hover "bug" as Re-Logic treated the HOIK by unofficially legitimizing it. The HOIK allowed for SO MANY great things and I forsee the hover bug doing the same.
Sure, it already has. It's been around for a good long while, now. 🙂
But I do think the devs are committed to trying to replace it with legitimate blocks. The community manager keeps asking out loud whether it's just a little too powerful, softening up the ground or whatever.
I think mostly it will depend upon if they have the coder time to actually implement the new things and changes, when they have always been short of that, for the last 2 years at least.

And it's a nice idea, but I can't see any kind of collaboration on the horizons for us. We each like to do our own things, for various reasons. I'm a useless blithering idiot at real time creative game play and sleep at all different, wrong times, all the times, etc.
If I can think of some more limited project, I might approach him again, but I couldn't manage to engage him for the GBC build, previously.

Unfortunately I still can't really talk, no in real time. These videos were really a product of smoke and mirrors editing - each sentence was recorded separately and took an average of 4 takes to get roughly right.
Me trying to voice over as I play would be an extremely drawn out and painful experience of mumbling and pregnant pauses... 😳

If you mean the start of campaign? That doesn't take long at all, if you have a rough idea of what's going on. You could be up to this level within5-6 hours of game-play, easy.🙂

With the awesome hover bike at the end, I downloaded it and it was workling great. then like 5 mins later I respawned it straight from the steam link, and it just shot straight up into the air? now it wont stop doing it every time I swap to it, any help?
I remember other's mentioning this issue. I don't remember if it's just a bug (like it'll go away on restart) or needs the control schema reworking. Then resaving...

So I tried to copy and pasting in the .png for the ultimate chassis into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TerraTech Beta\Cache, but noticed that the .tdc file that everything else in the cache folder has. What am I doing wrong?

One of these spawned as an enemy in my world as a mission and it was crazy fast. It did fly into space above me when I broke of a piece though, so I failed the mission.

We need Better Future normal spawn enemies.
The only thoughts I have for why they aren’t there yet are:
• Not enough variety in enemy design yet
• it may be part of the lore bits, since this game does have a sprinkle of story; better future being a more reserved corporation, with enemy techs actually being sent by them alone to profit off destroying unlucky customers who purchase their overpriced vehicles. Of course a few blocks are lost, but this dastardly deed of consumer manipulation seems to fit perfectly with an eccentric ultra-profiting subscription-based company (*cough* Apple *cough* Aperture Science *cough cough!*)
For sure, be great when we can see some more turn up randomly. The enemy population and spawning in general certainly needs an overhaul and a lot of love.
Better Future blocks aren't even all finished yet. Hoping there will be another round of community submissions to a community core stream thread when they are ready.
Also, BF techs are very expensive, and I think that counts against them when the game's determining what to throw at you (outside of mission enemies). It doesn't like giving your hard enemies much. Mostly just dissapointing trash. And there's a lot of old, legacy builds in there, too.

there's been an update at some point, where if you press forwards in the build beam, the tech goes in the direction the cab's facing instead of the camera, making triple or quad miners way harder to set up. I'm asking if you have a way to work around it because it's pretty annoying, otherwise we just have to roll with it.
There was, indeed. I gave the devs feedback on this and managed to get strafe controls added to the build beam on [Q] and [E] by default. Do these help you? I don't thik it says anything about these in game, so most won't know...

how can you save the picture at 2:00 into the game?
That's a png snapshot from the official forum. If you put it in the snapshots folder, it should (still, as far as i know) show up in the tech loading menu.
On Windows, the folder should be somewhere like: "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\TerraTech\[LONG_NUMBER]\Snapshots".
But mostly you'd just subscribe to items from the Steam workshop. I don't think console has these options, as far as I know. OK?

It has a Better Future Active Gyro inside (lower middle), with HE straight bike wheels on it, front and back. Then a Venture repair bubble on the top of that, and every other block can be cleary seen from the outside, just pausing the video or whatever.
Go on, I'm sure it'll fall into place, just give it a go and see how it handles. If you accidentally change a little detail maybe it will even work out more interesting.😉

@@ZeroGravitas i could't do the mission with any hover or ground tech i was given, so i waited until i had antigrav stuff (which was a grade 2 mission)

For sure. It's taking the devs a while, like I mention in the previous episode. Could be ~2-3months from now.
They may want to get Better Future mostly finished, with the blocks, missions, etc, plus maybe co-op creative, which could take some extra work on console. I'm sure they want these to be fully functional for console release.🙂

As far as I know, the hover-bug was never removed. Since so many builds used it.
There can be differences in the exact behaviour, if one uses a different control schema setup, or has another temporary glitch happen to it, I think I've heard.
