@salt-team-six5883 definitely. Just depends what you're planning to catch with them. I grew up being told they're one of the best shark baits, cause they're hella bloody/oily. Goliath (and other) grouper, I'd assume tunas and things would munch em too. But inshore? Probably just sharks
in the 90s-early 00s I was a Destin dock rat doing exactly what y'all did. I miss those days, and Aj's. im landlocked in the middle of texas now and get my salt fix through your videos, thanks brant
Loved your ability to find a commercial restaurant that was willing to catch your cook. Hat's off to AJ's for providing this service! I wish more establishments would provide this service.
The first time I came to Florida (mid 00s), my lady caught the jackpot fish on a cattle-car charter out of Ft. Lauderdale. It ended up costing more for the Restaurant to cook our filets than to order off of their menu. Lessen learned. At least the jackpot $$ paid for most of the cost for the day.
Good goin Brant. I think its great that they actually let you fish there. Up north where i reside, they almost never allow fishing from dock/restaurant/shop locations like this. What a cool pkace to fish👍🏻
Ok so I started watching your channel because I love visiting Destin and seeing the beautiful gulf waters, fish in the water and white sugar sand… then I got more interested in fishing watching your videos! I enjoy ALL of your videos, Brant! Keep up the good work. 😊 Go pro drop at the board walk would be neat with everything you were seeing.
I agree. I've mentioned that a couple times. Both here and on Beach Bum's channel. But it seemed to fall on deaf ears. I even looked to see if there are polarizing filters for GoPros. There certainly are and they're quite inexpensive.
Hey Man! You're back in town, Let`s get bizzy and show us some action! We know Shawn, he has a good channel with a lot of action! Up here in NYC we don`t have too many fish joints where we can get a nice fish dish for an affordable price, I might have to go to Mc Dees for a fish sandwich, Ha! Ha! Man! What you guys were eating looked fantastic, Man I gotta get a fish sandwich somewhere.
That dock fishing reminds me of Crappie fishing the docks in our area. Just drop a jig around every open area. Very much overlooked fishing spots for sure. Great video and great food.😆
Love the mangrove snapper 👍 I know you have tasted worse than that nasty jack... I remember your poor mother tasting that lady fish in a video once...THAT WOMAN is a champion, I would of told you something totally different than she did 😂😂😂😂 Welcome back to the heat dude, glad y'all's trip was good for you!
Great video Brant! I'm a newer subscriber that's a relatively newer UA-camr who does fishing videos with my 4-year-old. You use very similar camera setups that we try to create with. So, it's been awesome to see how you shoot your videos...learning a lot! Super entertaining and educational content. Fishing with a little kid, with sometimes limited attention, I really like seeing videos like this where you're fishing unique, public spaces. Fantastic stuff man!
Ditto the ones that said only hard core fisherman keeps their minnows in their pocket! If I did that ONE time I wud be doin my own laundry for the rest of my life!!! Another great video Brant!
I live in Destin and if this video is as recent as it says then I will say that while it has slowed down some it is still very busy. And it is pure mayhem this labor day weekend.
Fishing right in the American Spirit’s slip. My favorite party boat in the Destin harbor. Can anyone just come fish in front of AJ’s like that? I go down from Texas to stay on Okaloosa island a couple times a year. I stay at the el matador which is the last condo on the island before you hit the stretch of beach that the military owns that goes all the way down to Navarre. I usually fish that stretch of remote beach. I always have great luck there. But if anyone can fish the harbor like that I’ve gotta give it a try. Keep pumping out the content sir. You are killing it.
Loved this content, a ton of useful information for a north Alabama boy. Quick question what is with the grass in the surf from Pensacola pier east towards Navarre?
Brant, pls wait a couple weeks and go wading on nearby Crab Island. So cool a scene for those of us north of the border, peeps having beers and chilling. Fishing too? Rgds, Den
I'd definitely be there if I could, man, it's a drive from Sarasota! Please do some more collabs w Lawless, he's the man who got me HOOKED on Sanibel! Real cool dude. Could we maybe get 2 or 3 "guaranteed" dates for events at the shop where you guys would be there? Whether that be for a holiday or whatever the occasion may be, lets start some annual events and give people something to keep coming back for. (And then I have some solid dates to plan ahead for 😉)
Nice video! I noticed you were free lining the minnows and at one point you were talking about putting a split shot. May I asked why you decided to free line and why you were going to use the split shot? Is a Carolina rig not a best choice in the situation?
Hol up! Woah, hol up. Hol up, now. You're tellin' me we booked, planned, packed, and delayed for two weeks, then finally went to Iceland, and now we're back in Fla? "Ain't no way"....
This is like a man-made reef & nursery for smaller fish..... lol, if you can get around all the ropes/pylons I'm certain good fish are lurking ; plus all the stuff that's "chummed" into this place ought to hold some large fish...... peace
Yeah, I know you wear some good glasses as well..... thanks for the videos. Interesting way to plate cooked fish. I worked at the A & B Lobster House in Key West so I liked the presentation. Of the food & video, ty much peace
I didn’t know that they made centers that big, if I was going to spend a couple of mil that would be my perfect start then customize to my specifications. Your engineer buddy needs one of those.
I came back from Key West with a couple of Jack Crevalle filets. I watched a couple of UA-cam videos about the best way to cook them. They all fried the fish. Honestly, it tasted horrible. I found the two best ways to cook Jack Cravelle are (1) confit it. Dutch oven filled with duck fat at 200 degrees or less; and (2) sous vide it. Vacuum seal the fish and submerge it in a water bath at 139 degrees. Both methods produce good tasting fish out of otherwise lousy tasting fish.
are you putting live bait in your pocket????? and also Ron dropped that whole idea of making golf course in the state parks...ok you answered the minnow question...lol
Hey bro next time you come by, I am at a drink shop on the harbor walk I would love to hook you up with free drinks bro and if you need someone to fish with too let me know lol I’m literally 35 feet from where you were fishing

I will be there from Texas and I will be in Pensacola September 24-28 let’s go fishing
Only a hardcore fisherman keeps minnows in his pocket. That reaks dedication. A true sportsman. I just hope your wife doesn't do your laundry.
Better than keeping red wiggles in your mouth.
Bra lol....fron new orleans area. After a long day hunting or fishing, Troy L. Put me on to putting some bleach into the tub lol.

Most restaurants along the Destin harbor actually advertise cooking anglers catch.

I wonder if you could find a polarizing filter for your GoPro? Would sure help us see under the water.

Late to comment, but LOL at Brandt using the pocket live well. Them bull minnows are resilient.
That was cool as hell!! Damm wish I was there!! 💯💯👊👊🔥🔥😍
Nice video Brant. Wonder why the piers are vacant and surprised to see you can fish there. On the east coast piers prohibit fishing
It’s because tourist season just ended. Things are very slow right now.
They won't let you fish there when it gets a little later when everything opens up.
I live in Destin and if this video is as recent as it says then I will say that while it has slowed down some it is still very busy. And it is pure mayhem this labor day weekend.
I love AJ's grilled oysters. Great video
4:14 Walks right by a "no fishing" sign.
Go out on party boat, like most visitors are able to afford, were there's 30 to 40 to compete with , would make a great video ??
Yes another video thanks brant and thanks Ricky 😂😂😂😂
Another great video.
Appreciate it.
Use the jacks for cut bait works great
Awesome idea. Can you fish the Pensacola beach marina

Any more Iceland videos

Looks like it’d be a hell of place to do the after dark dock, light fishing

Cool videos, brother! Go pro on the hat in a restaurant is a bit much 😅
I've stayed at the Emerald Grand before. Next time I'll fish along the boardwalk.
You'll find the weirdest things under those docks because of all the baits that get tossed out of livewells there.
I noticed you give that Jack the belly Brant! Respect to CMR.
This video was awesome!!!!
Hello to you all. Good luck🎉🎉. Awesome video 🎉🎉🎉🎉.
If you fillet the jack crevalle properly get all that skin and red off taste way better
That and if they are smaller ones too.
Nice video! I noticed you were free lining the minnows and at one point you were talking about putting a split shot. May I asked why you decided to free line and why you were going to use the split shot? Is a Carolina rig not a best choice in the situation?
I like to use the least amount of weight I can get away with. Sometime I needed a split shot if the fish were a litter deeper
@@AnglerUpTv is it because you were near structure? Or was it because it was shallow water?
Does the city or county own the docks? Im confused as how you say thats public fishing bc it seems like private docks and private boats there.
Didn’t know you were allowed to fish of commercial docks?
Quiet this time of year :)
Hol up! Woah, hol up. Hol up, now. You're tellin' me we booked, planned, packed, and delayed for two weeks, then finally went to Iceland, and now we're back in Fla? "Ain't no way"....
I’ve always wanted to fish that harbor but didn’t know if it was allowed.
Your content make is very nice 💖💖
You must do On-page SEO, Off-page SEO, video SEO on your UA-cam Channel
When are the new live well pants dropping 😂
As always a great video Brant to make the Jack taste good try vinegar and baking soda that will get rid of the fishy taste

That was not a center console.

I am surprised that they let you fish by the boat dock.

From what I understand, smaller jack crevalle aren’t bad. It’s when they get bigger that they get the overpowering fishy taste
Agree with you Brant shore/dock fishing is the best. I live up in New England but one day I’m gonna drive down to fish and check out BBO.
