I really appreciate that you show us how you can fix this in Vegas...I am also aware of Audacity but I’m so tired of having to learn more programs when you can improve the sound using the same software as I’m using to edit the video! Thank you!
You left out the “export to Audacity and use their noise reduction and Normalize filters” steps that most of us who’ve used Vegas more than a minute probably already do. Better/faster result than this.
I've done that many times myself, however, it's usually in tandem with this when I do it. My hope is to show users some of Vegas audio mixing power and give them more tools to handle sound issues with in the Vegas software.
TantoTorno Audacity is a free audio editor app. Google, download & install, export your Vegas playlist as .mp3, bring that file into Audacity to use filters (effects menu > noise reduction and Normalize), export as .wav, re-import that .wav into Vegas and use that instead of original audio.
