- Опубліковано 18 лис 2014
- The 2014-15 Louisville Leopard Percussionists (4th-6th graders) rehearsing Kashmir, The Ocean, and Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin.
The Louisville Leopard Percussionists is a non-profit organization offering extracurricular music opportunities to local children. Please help us keep our program going by donating at www.louisvillel...
The Louisville Leopard Percussionists began in 1993. They are a performing ensemble of approximately 55 student musicians, ages 7-12, living in and around Louisville, Kentucky. Each student learns and acquires proficiency on several instruments, such as marimbas, xylophone, vibraphone, drum set, timbales, congas, bongos and piano.
give that music teacher a RAISE
✊✊✊
My brother did this (not this one). It’s a program
Yessssssss
Absoluely
Big time
The kid alone playing the drums!?? Wow
She is pretty good. Considering the giant footprints of John Bonham she is stepping in ;-)
I cant believe a class of children this young pulled this of. Must be an amazing teacher.
These guys have one heck of a music teacher!!!!
Different races, different genders, and who knows what other differences... all the walls break down when they come together to make beautiful music.
YES!
1,000 thumbs up for this comment, good sir!
*****
Good lord man, don't bring down this work with your hatred. STFU.
You're a piece of garbage.
What's funny is that it wasn't about race until this comment about how it's not about race.
They are all deep in the groove. The drummer is rock solid.
I just did a standing ovation in front of my phone.
😂😂😂 Wheezing. Absolutely perfect comment 😅
The kid on the drums is driving and keeping the whole thing steady
That little drummer boy ain't messing around...hats off to whole group...and teacher for teaching them ZEPPELIN
And the drummer deserves his own shout-out. AMAZING work.
Drummers. The girl behind him is putting in work!
The kid on the drums went full bonzo love it
@@Wickedlizard314 THAT KICK though!
@@Wickedlizard314 Fr?
To those about to rock...we salute you.
Seeing those smiling faces at the end brings tears to my eyes. These kids had the best music teacher in the universe.
After 8 years it still doesn’t get old
As a Zeppelin fan I approve of this message. We need more people like this teacher keeping the greats like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rush, Aerosmith, the Beatles, etc alive.
+CPWindsorsub Are our chill'uns gettin' enuf' Bob Marley in their diet? Healthy chill'drens need two to three doses a youth under a conjures man's hips...
Yes
+CPWindsorsub, I'm actually not much of a Zepp fan, but I wholeheartedly agree with you.
I was talking to a girl in my grade a few days ago (grade 12 so she's 17). Never heard of Zeppelin, never heard of Aerosmith, had a vague idea who John Lennon is etc. I'm not even bullshitting you lol. She also didn't know who some of the current popular "musicians" are. I was absolutely dumbfounded and couldn't believe it lol.
Reminds me of a joke years ago when someone asked if they knew who the Beatles were.. isn't that the band Paul McCartney had before Wings?
Look at this. Just stop and look at these kids working together and creating something amazing. I know this is old, but it's worth watching time and time again. Ladies and gentlemen: your future. Get your kids in band. Learn an instrument; you're never too old.
Agreed
I just picked up my guitar at age 44. 🤘😆🤘
@@jennifervalentine3596 - Did the same at 61 . . . but my hip broke.
deaconsmom2000 how old is this video?
Hope you guys know that you caught Jimmy Page's interest. He shared this today.
YES, we definitely noticed. :)
Louisville Leopard Percussionists Great arrangement! Is this your own, or can we buy it at JW Pepper?
..nice idea..but I doubt very much, jimmy runs his 'own' fb page... I wish... I bet he has seen this though... Do these kids know how EPIC they are???? :)
Kimmy Page
no, seriously! this was shared from a news story on the official Jimmy Page Facebook page... which is how a lot of folks found this ....
and nice to meet you, even if virtually!
Kimmy Page Regardless of if it is "the real" verified official JP the FB post seems key to this video getting this attention. It has been sitting mostly un-viewed for a year and a half. So the power of celeb endorsement carries over to cyber land. There are of course impostor celebs in abundance trying to promote whatever BS impostor celebs promote.
Still my favourite thing on UA-cam
Give this teacher a raise.
Altering 4/4, 5/8 and 6/8....... that's advanced music theory, not kids stuff.
So proud of these kiddos - but this music teacher has to be the coolest music teacher on the planet!!!
That was amazing!!!! That must of took forever of practice!! And there only in like fith or sixth grade. Does anyone agree??!!' Unbelievable
Thanks Hailey! The kids are in 4th-6th grade.
could not agree more! God bless those beautiful kids - AND their instructor(s)! - they totally killed it! Really makes you appreciate the sophistication and complexity of Zeppelin's music in a whole new way, too. Absolutely awesome!
Michael Shore
that is/they are awesome! thanks for the info and congratulate your bro for me :)
Kora D yes, they are incredible!., what talent these kids have!!!
Getting the led out is what I call it. It got my eyes a little wet to see and hear this.I am a big Zeppelin fan /Drummer
Same all around. Well said.
When i was in music class at this age
We couldnt master the triangle
This is AMAZING
I love how their faces get into "the zone", the music just takes over.
Hats off to all these kids and their teacher. Take a big bow, all of you, even if it's eight years later
All these kids are awesome! Props to Bonham Jr on drums
AHHHHHH!!! Best Music Teacher EVER!!!!! This is freakin' rad - from the boys with no shoes, the girl drummer in the back OWNING it, the random " throw your hands in the air like you just don't care" from the back line, the brief glimpse of a Jimi Hendrix poster on the far left, and the streamers on the fan. I just can't get enough. Thanks for the unity of diversity at large. This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and heartwarming. This teacher DESERVES Teacher of the century!!!
All races of kids just love playing music! Music reaches beyond races and boundries! It's God's way of bringing us together.
the music teacher's a genius!
***** I prefer a Hoover over a Kirby. :-)
***** "MY ASS"
+Officer Doofy Mr. Schneebly! ;)
+Officer Doofy
are you kidding? hoovers suck!
coelacanth lol
The kids were absolutely amazing!! The teacher on the other hand deserves a medal, to put together a composition like that with young musicians must have taken countless hours and a vision I simply can not comprehend. Well done to all involved!!!!
Hopefully they listened to the original a hundred times so they can truly appreciate what they are playing
How kids music program should be!!
whoever is responsible for arranging these zeppelin songs into a xylophonic medley is a musical projector of the 1st order... this is one of the best zeppelin re-imaginings around... whoever you are, thank you so much for sharing your talent w/ us :)
How can anyone watch this without the biggest smile throughout?!!!? So cool 😎
I wish I had a million dollars. I would send it in a heart beat!!
+Conscientious Objector You can make a donation thorough our website. :)

You can send a little bit each moth. I might just do this.My Grandkids now live in KY near Louisville.
It's great how these kids are not simply playing notes, but they are also feeling the music. They are great, wish them great success in their future in music.
the girl in the back doing the drums .... big up !!!
Totally! Serious skills! May she rock on! And bless this music teacher, eh? And in Kentucky, too? How cool is that?
Sara Daamouch she is amazing!!!!
I know right, she is amazing. You go girl!
MAD PROPS!
Yes indeed!
Great job--Drummer Killing it in the back row!!! Rock On
Little Janie Bonham back there!
I'm totally blown away ‼️ These grade school children knocked it out of the park ‼️ Playing a song that's older than their parents ‼️ Robert Plant and Jimmy Page couldn't be prouder 🎶‼️
Interestingly enough this actually got shared to the whole band by a bunch of fans and other artists of various genres and times of music, the whole band tagged it and inked this video with very positive vibes and comments if you dig into their SM accts you'll find them reacting to it . Some of them even commented here I think but I know they reached out to the kids personally as well as the teacher confirmed on FB I think and they had a nice chat with them.
bet these kids know more about musical instruments than half of the people at the grammys!
How about that drummer too! 👏
Wow. Everyone was great, but special praise must go to the drummer. Absolutely fantastic.
Girl Drummers bringing the spirit of Bonham!
I hope the members of Zeppelin see this.....oh my God they would love it more than anyone!!
Jimmy Page gave it a mention.
The way they handle all the time signature changes is excellent.
Their teacher did a great job with them - I can't get over how young they are and they pulled this off. 👏👏👏👏

I am an MBA student at Boston University, and your video is so cool and went so viral that I was assigned this UA-cam video as an assignment for my social media marketing class. Another fun fact is that the company I work for is headquartered in Louisville, KY and I actually lived there between 2010 and 2012. I died laughing when I heard the host of BBC try to pronounce the name of the city. You all should be very proud of your musical abilities! Best of luck, Steve
Steve! Thanks so funny that you noticed the pronunciation of Louisville! If you need any help with your assignment (more details, . . .) email me at leopard percussionists@gmail.com. ~ Diane
Louisville Leopard Percussionists helo, I just wanted to say that as somebody who has worked at a rock n roll/theater camp for 7 years sence I graduated highschool ,this is some top notch work. I'v sent the video to all my coworkers. we all love it
My God. This is astonishing. It's such a complex piece, note-wise and rhythmically, too. WOW. What an amazingly talented and dedicated group!!! Well done! Gold star!!! And kudos to their imaginative teacher for giving them the confidence to tackle such a challenging piece. ❤😮😊
Watching this in 2021 and feeling like I missed out on the past 7 years!
These kids have more talent than 99% of people in the music industry today.
truthcrusades true though
Even more so now
Not so do you see how many their are there parts are mostly easy
Blake Will yeah
Oh my god. This must be an amazing experience to direct kids like this. You can see everything in them. Kid in blue upfront? He feels the music. The girl in green. She's a natural with accuracy and ennui. Let her loose! The boy in the gray hoodie? He's a kid who loves the escape. All of them. I can see all of their stories. Neat. Excellent performance. God speed.
Unbelievable the two boys on the drums owned it
@@alexguy1
They really did!
Their irresistible desire to dance is so cute.
These kids are amazing. Teacher must be proud!
The young ladies on the drum are doing Bonham proud.
I wonder if the boys have seen this. I'm sure they'd be very proud and impressed!
Yes, they have, were VERY impressed, double thumbs WAAAAY up from the entire band.;)
My fifth or sixth (seventh, eighth?) watch, and I'm crying every time; look at all the girls! Girls playing percussion! Girls making noise, making noise, making noise!! I hope, so much, that they can carry this experience forward. If not as musicians, then as strong, solid, confident women who have become self-aware, and are wiling and able to dismantle the patriarchy.
I bow to you.
Well, I didn't expect The Zep sound interesting on xylophones.
Turns out I'm wrong.
Great jobs, kids. Really impressive :D
That actually kicked a few layers of gluteus maximus. Well done, kids!
They are having such a good time, they even took off their shoes.
Never get tired of watching this version by the Leopards !
Dang. Life just plain feels better knowing this exists.
From the mariachi remakes with Twisted Sister and Cheap Trick, to these amazing children in Louisiana, brilliant, unexpected mashups, music, and musicians always brighten my day. Thanks for this upload!
🙏🏽✌🏽❤️ from Minnesota
Love the girls on keyboards throwing in some dance moves too 😁
These kids are great. Kudos to the adults whose hard work who help make thus happen. This is an experience none of them will ever forget.
Truly fabulous! My daughter text me the fb clip…watched it (in AWE). Then searched ya out here on yt. As a 29 yr vet of public ed (just retired 😎) I just gotta say…Parents, take superb care of THIS teacher!! She recognized the brilliance of her students and gave ‘em a platform. And, I’m quite sure, THAT is an everyday occurrence in her classroom!!!! Beyond well done students!!
I actually cried when I saw this. It totally reaffirms my faith in humanity. :)
the girl in the back doing the drums .... big up !!!
Seriously...seeing this must give page/plant/Jones more of a heart warming glow than any award or accolade from the sycophantic music world...what a amazing legacy and sense of pride that must give...respect to these dudes 😁🎶🎵❤️
Holy Fifty Shades of Blue Balls. That Music Teacher is friggin Incredible !
Jimmy Page has to see these Kids and jam with them ..... could You Imagine !!!
SMS CUSTOMS - Jimmy Page shared this video 2 years ago.
You kids, the teachers, and the music program all deserve 10,000,000 hits on this, pronto! Excellent in every way, this brings me a huge smile today. Thanks...and...
ENCORE! ENCORE! ENCORE!
Getting the Led out!!!
Couldn't agree more, Amwas. What a display!
Half way there! :)
Beautiful, and the drummer is an animal 🔥🔥🔥
Everything about this awesome: the teacher, for having the initiative to make this happen and teach these students to play this piece; the xylophonists, for putting in the work to make this incredibly tight performance happen so beautifully; the drummer, for laying down the foundation of the piece and keeping it all together. This, right here, is proof of the value of music education, and the value of UA-cam.
Even by rote memorization this is an amazingly complex piece of music to perform.
I give not only props to the students who worked so hard to be able to perform this, but also to the teacher whom exhibited the diligence and patience required to accomplish such a feat!
Everyone involved is simply awesome!
Not to play favorites, but extra-special props/kudos to that young drummer who managed to reproduce virtually flawlessly a difficult "off-time signature" beat. As do many of the children here, he has _massive_ potential as a professional musician.
RantingRamsay I couldn't agree more. They all potentially have a career in music, but that little drummer is professional standard already. I was blown away by the 'feel' of the whole show Well done to them all.
+RantingRamsay Check it though... it's not the little dude playing drums... it's the girl behind him playing most of that... He's usually doing the straight 4/4 stuff and she's filling in the off tempo...
+Vernon Zimmerman Around the 2:40 mark in the video, when the timing changes to one of Zep's signature uncommon time signatures, the young drummer is indeed doing the majority of the beat-work with similar accent working coming from the young lady positioned behind him.
The talented young lady behind him is simply providing extra accent work and doing it very well. The main "beat" is still coming from the lad behind the kit.
The lad behind the kit and the lass behind him are both exhibiting excellent timing and rhythm (EDIT: as all are the students in this video).
Both have exceptional talent, and I lament the fact that I didn't notice this in my previous viewing and comment.
However, I must express dissent in your statement that the lad behind the kit is only doing a basic 4/4. If he was, the performance would have sounded horrible.
Fair enough?
+RantingRamsay ... Touché :) I also stand corrected. I was watching towards the end then started from the beginning, but I missed the part you mentioned. Agreed they are all on their way. How can you not be moved by music like this??? Pop music will pale in comparison for them :D
You might be cool, but you will never, ever, be as cool as a middle school kid playing Kasmir on a xylophone while little bonhams smash kits yo.
Thanks! - but most of them are elementary school kids. :)
Louisville Leopard Percussionists oh even better. The page that sent me here said middle school my apologies
It's hard to describe. That's like, Sinatra or Steve McQueen levels of cool.

Elementary...
First day back from band practice-- "Mommy... what's a Led Zeppelin?"
A blimp
Astounding..Can't stop listening and watching. Likely they didn't know fully what they created when they finished this recording. David butler, Agree 100%! "Wow!! So good and So young! ! I'm crying 😂 in happiness!! Awesome Work!! Gang!!!!!"
How fabulous are these kids! They did a great job. Bless their teacher!
I'm smiling so hard, my face hurts.
_Rock on_ kids!
I wanna throw a party for the (as of this post 4:53:pm, Wed 4 Mar 2015) 152 people who gave this video a "Thumbs Down" click. Why make that effort to express derision? They clearly need a lesson in what it means to experience unencumbered joy, and fun, and to understand the real, soul-satisfying value of learning to play and perform so well.
C'mon over, naysayers...let loose and find that inner amusement and appreciation for the kids and everyone else who made this possible.
Are you trying to reason with You Tube commenters? Oh Phos...
I'll be at that party. Because I wanted to look at them in the eye.
Maybe those sad ThumbsDowners grew up hard, and lived in a situation where they couldn't afford a $3.00 plastic Flutophone like all the other kids in their elementary school music class. I can't reason with them, but maybe a little Kickstarter campaign to put music in their hands could reignite some tiny flicker of joy in their crusty souls.
Maybe we could save up and buy them a life.
Maybe they are rap fans and therefore shouldn't be on here they must have an interest in real music or they would be elsewhere
I've heard a lot of Led Zeppelin covers, but I think this might be the best.
I actually cried when I saw this. It totally reaffirms my faith in humanity. :)
looks like they have a great music program at that school, wish they ALL did, the world would be a better place
We aren't affiliated with a school - we're a non-profit community based group. I'm glad you enjoyed our tunes!
Louisville Leopard Percussionists In a way that is good because the haters can't say this was forced on the kids. The bad is many public schools stopped teaching all kinds of great music like this. Either way, was a great job and enjoyed it.
Louisville Leopard Percussionists You all should be proud, and I'm sure you are. And not because I am a Zeppelin.

brought tears to my eyes. seriously. i could NEVER imagined have played that at music class when I was the age of these amazing kids.
There's hope after all and it caresses my ears....
These babies! This teacher! I am humbled by their majesty
I first saw this 5 years ago and, it's as good today as it was then. Amazing that a school teacher thinks outside the box with music and good music to boot!
This is one of the best things that I've ever seen.
The young lady on the Trapps Drums in the back I swear is channeling Bonzo and having a BLAST! Jah bless!
How fantastic would it be if John Paul Jones and Robert Plant showed up to hear them play! Fantastic experience for John and Robert too!
All these kids are amazing, but the girl on the drums in the back kills it!! Obsessed with her!!
I would pay to see this live.
the girl that has a slushy shirt on and glasses is in the same class as me and her name is Maggie she is ten so am I she sits next to me she is one of the most talented and nicest people iv ever met she's in tag talented and gifted

+Delta5 How did you get a(n) UA-cam account if you're only ten out of curiosity? Or did you lie about your age.
I'm a big Led Zeppelin fan and think this is probably the best cover I've heard...amazing
Who are the 300 people who gave this a thumb down!? This was awesome! There is still hope for the next generation.
LOVE THESE KIDS
The next generation of musicians. Rock on!
Performing a technically brilliant song like Kashmir takes courage. Teaching kids requires talent, teaching them Zeppelin takes passion. I mean, how soundly 'in-time' they are! BRAVO.
Led Zep for all ages love it.
This drummer plays Bonzo better than most pros...TIME and GROOVE. Nice drum sound as well...snare POPS hard. Just let's you know over production does NOT translate to feel and "better"...finally the educational system did something to be proud of! This is a classic example of a music director thinking OUT OF BOX and bring life into the classroom. BRAVO music teacher! Bravo!
You guys restore my faith in humanity! Thank you!!!
Can't believe this has been on youtube for 8 years and I'm only seeing now. I hope these kids a making money off this awesome talent. Off to check out other videos.
They are all pretty darn good and are the children of little size .... Congratulations to the teacher who has coordinated well ... Just one word: Well done to all!
I don't believe these kids understanding the full extent that they're getting their Led out....you made my day!
