Phenomenal interview! I saw Astennu perform live in Wellington (New Zealand) when he was playing guitar in STRONGER THAN HATE so many years ago. Looking forward to the LORD KAOS shows in New Zealand in 2025! Timestamping this part to re-watch again: 1:11:07 - 1:28:06 Nick Barker/Dimmu Borgir Segment
Excellent interview and a lot of information in this one. Thanks to Jamie for putting the truth out there and to you Andrew for continuing to bring us all these awesome interviews.
Some slightly incendiary moments in here. Thanks for the deeper insights and I hope that everyone can stay adult and keep pushing the vision of Covenant, Kaos, Dimmu etc forward while keeping constructive criticism as a generating force. Keen for a bit of a talk about what Jamie's wilderness years consisted of- as it was stated he was well out of the limelight for some time.
I've only checked out this channel a couple times before, and your interactions are excellent. Interviewing is an art that few are actually a natural at. The conversational nature really brings out the person you're speaking with, rather than wearing them (and the audience) down with rote. Covenant is a vague memory from my youth where bands like Aborted and Cryptopsy ruled supreme. The corny keyboards weren't for me, but this dude can seriously play. It's a shame the podcast isn't reaching the larger audience it deserves. Keep up the good work. It's stellar
Fantastic interview! As a side note, I agree 100% with Astennu’s comments about The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, there was absolutely nothing like it at the time in terms of black metal.
I’m in my 40s and these bands were a big deal when I was starting to play and find my own thing. I ended up going down more of a power metal path but I like hearing some of these stories to give me more perspective and it actually makes me want to go back and listen to all of it a little more closely.
Fantastic interview, you always deliver. Had no idea Barker did bring so much trouble in Dimmu, i don't know him and i may be wrong but he never came accross as a very pleasant person. So in a way no surprise there. Awesome drummer of course, just like Jan who's still at the top and still more interesting than other extreme drummers. The situation with Blackheart is even more unfortunate. Like i said in the chat fan knew he was gay already back in the early 2000s if not even before, it was never an issue for anyone. The royalties and such though is a more complicated issue, always those fcking money, always. But if i remember correctly Nagash mentioned a while back that they never made much from Kovenant, screwed by the management, and Nuclear Blast always treated them like crap since they preferred to push Dimmu Borgir. Who knows what's up with that. I hope Astennu doesn't get clobbered for his revelations here!😁 Get Nagash for an interview next!

Yup looking forward to Welly too. And maybe even hopefully possibly not-ish Covenant at some stage too. Fingers crossed.

Wow, nice to know that Astennu used to play Cricket!
Last I heard Nick Barker was really unwell and had a go fund me or whatever to help raise funds for his treatment.
Nagash is gay and we don´t care either. we just need Nagash to play the material we love to hear from him.
Ha-ha, who told you that Nagash is gay!?))) he has family and he is ok. Ahhh, forgot to mention family with a woman!!))
Maybe Blackheart is gay, but really, who cares?
