I cut sofet pieces with the blade turned backwards. Lydia paints so neatly I would never say a word for fear I would get painted.

tip of the day,,, turn your saw blade backwards in your chop/miter saw when cutting vinyl,, works fine for me.....👍👍

Jim, you can reverse the blade on your circular saw and cut the soffett . Youll bee surprised how decent the cut turns out.

another tip when painting cut everything in with a brush or wiz roller before rolling , may have to do it twice depending on coverage but it will save you time and gie you a smoother finish , love you guy and gal ! Mr. HOOTIS !

I painted houses professionally with my father for years when I was younger. We always did it with a paint brush and roller. Spraying is ok but you got to water down the paint and it’s messy also it’s less pride to have done it by hand. 😊 also it will last longer without having to do another coat. Great job🎉

Jim any time you need to cut metal like you're doing .Take the blade off your off saw, and turn it around backwards. it cuts sheet metal like your using, like a charm. I use to install mobile home skirting and that's what we used.

Just a pro tip ,whn cutting plastic or vinal siding you can use your chop saw if you turn the blade around to cut in the opposite direction and it will cut flawlessly , just take the blade of and put it on backwards !

On the miter saw…. when cutting soffit material I like to use a plywood blade installed backwards. You’ll probably be done by the time you read this but maybe try it next time. Have a great holiday guys!!!

Hey Jim Happy Birthday. Just to let you know, when you cut vinyl on a miter saw you gotta turn the blade around backwards. Also if you use it to cut anything cement based, like your siding, you can't use the blade for anything else

Good morning y'all, great to see you again my friends. Happy Birthday Jim! I hope this trip around the sun is your best one yet. Lydia and Jim, you are so much fun to share some time with, I always look forward to you latest vlog! I love you guys, your projects and the approach to them ... do a good job and have fun doing it. I live the color choice I see going on by the door. It's a nice color tone and is set of nicely by the white. The soffit looks great and trimmed out very well as did the fascia board. Lydia is such a skilled, patient and hard worker. It is nice to see her involved as much as she is with everything and also being a great Mom to Ladly!! Jim you are a very lucky man and she most definitely makes you two the fantastic couple you are. Props for another nice job of editing and music selection. I use tin snips to cut vinyl soffit and siding. It works well and only takes 20-30 seconds for each cut.

I would like to add a comment about painting. Spraying maybe faster but is it better for your application. The two of you are parents and building a home that means busy people. How often do you want to redo the paint. Spraying puts on the least amount of paint and will wear out first, rolling is in the middle, and using the brush puts more paint on and lasts the longest.

The paint looks very nice great job
My home is 30 feet tall and when I painted it, I set an Alexa in a window, climbed the ladder, then told Alexa to turn on the paint sprayer. The paint machine only has a 20 foot hose so I had to place it in a window & plug it into a smart outlet because I could not walk up the ladder with it on.

Jim if you have very much of the soffit to cut you might want to try a 0 or negative hook blade, it doesn't pull the saw into the material. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jim. Thanks again for the great content.

To cut with the miter saw flip the blade around backwards. Much less aggressive but still gives you a really nice cut.

Flip the blade around on the saw. Sounds counter productive but is much more gentle on the siding.
