Here, here. Couldn’t agree more. He has clever strategy of creating unique characters and then introducing them to recurring secondary who through progressive books become the central characters themselves. I met briefly Michael at a book signing where he inscribed a book to a couple of my friends and also autographed a couple of books for me. Roll forward about three months to an event celebrating Michael’s writer of the year honor he had just been awarded. I said hello and he greeted me by my first name! I was stunned. I asked one of the organizers if he knew Michael well and when he said yes, I asked if Michael had an amazing memory? He smiled and said he remembered your name, right? Amazing recall!
Can’t agree with disparaging comments. I find Connelly to be amazing. Always two central cases running in parallel through the books. On these he adds backgrounds consisting of fascinating little vignettes, some stories and characterization far richer than any other police/whodunit writer. All manner of tricks and stratagems perpetrated by defense and prosecution are portrayed. Connelly must have put in years reporting on crime, to have picked up all these legal nuggets. All my life I’ve revered, Sherlock Holmes, but those stories have 1/4 the depth. Sherlock prances through his plots, and only at in the end explains his chain of logic. But it’s not elementary my dear W. It’s maze. Police and lawyers need to analyze and calculate, pursue wrong paths, then adjust. Bosch and Haller reveal their logic as they go. Like a proper math student who shows his work. But then Sir Arthur had the full force of the baroque music of upper class British language to add nobility. Connelly characters bumble, get beat up, forget appointments, get dumped… Real life.
Agreed, although would like to pick his brain now , because the books during vid , showed the California perspective on it and the book regarding Jan 6. Could do a great book on how Waller FBI friends have been making a mockery of the country the last 8 years
Great novel 📙 by Michael Connelly... as usual, and and excellent narrator too! Thoroughly enjoying this ... very entertaining. Thanks so very much for uploading this book! 😊
The reader is actor Peter Giles, who I was disappointed to find, has had only minor roles, usually in TV series. He's a good-lookin' guy, so I don’t know why Hollywood doesn’t use him more, instead of awful actors like Adam Sandler.
Read all the Connelly books in order right back to The Black Echo. Love the recurring characters that weave their way into the stories. Really recommend either listening or reading right back to the beginning.
Fine reading by actor Peter Giles, who does a convincing job with the different voices and accents. I plan on looking him up at IMDb to see what movies he’s been in.

I just finished listening to this book, and found it rounded and very satisfying - to the point that I looked to see if there were other audiobooks by Michael Connelly, and I was stunned to see the number of them. When a book takes 11 hours to read, how long did it take him to write it - to plan the characters, scenarios, etc, and after writing, the inevitable massaging to get it 'just right'? Clearly, there are those who have led a very much more productive life than I have!
The insufferable, irritating and inconsequential ads are distracting, to say the least, mainly because they pop up so unmistakably loud ! It confuses my poor little brain since I wasn’t expecting them and was quite content just listening to Mr Connelly good book.
Having to fast forward through a lot if the descriptions about how court or police process works. Bit basic for most readers. Story ok just needs to move a bit quicker. Unless you know nothing about court. I find the Bosch books 109 per cent better.
A bit parochial. Listeners can be global and may appreciate some context. There will, of course, be listeners who are entirely familiar with the processes in the book who will skim over the text in part.
Google wants you to be a paid subscriber, so they can make even more money. I must sit through ads if I want to watch one of my own original videos that I posted years ago, and I don’t receive a single cent.

The story might be great but for anyone who's not an american, or of limited intelligence, the faux gravelly voice of the narrator is extremely annoying and insincere. In all my years the only people I have heard speak that way have been those who smoke 60 a day or have had a traumatic through injury. I mean its insultingly immature, ffs whoever thought this was a good idea needs to grow up!
Actually, I listen to a lot of audiobooks and a lot of people like this narrator and others like him with a deep voice...some of the other favorites also have that deep voice, even some of the female narrators have a deeper more mellow voice.
Also sounds like you have taken a writing course But the Bosch books are better. Though Lincoln lawyer books resulted in a great movie and Bosch a brilliant series. He is a much darker and intricate character. But the two book series entwine

Connelly is a great writer. He is one of the few crime writers I like. His books are readable and the characters are well rounded.

Absorbing. Well defined characters. Dynamic. Compelling storyline. Exceptional narrator. Surprising ending. A real escape! No ads! A real treat!

What are you talking about??? I don't see any.
Okay Michael, you don't need to justify your book using alt accounts. 😂

Engaging story, excellent narration and good sound quality - thank you.

Awesome surprise. Harry Bosch is in this book. Bosch is a great series
I love these Lincoln lawyer books. Thanks for the recommendation for Bosch series.
Bosch and Haller had the same biological father - but only found out when they were both adults.

Excellent story and narrator. Thanks again. 😊
A most enjoyable audio book. Thank you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! Outstanding

Thanks for posting, and no ads an extra bonus
Love Peter Giles.
I enjoy the storyline. I watch Bosch series and the storyline keeps the listeners engaged
love narrator, great story, low on violence, nice revelations on American judicial system.
Not just the US justice system also Australian 🇦🇺🙏🏼

Great story. Great narrator. Just the ads make it impossible to listen to in bed. Or to skip them in car
I use an ad-blocker - that makes all the difference in the world.
Thanks. Funnily I’m already not getting the ads. Maybe some algorithm
Get UA-cam premium it is 13 a mo and no ads. So worth it!

Great book and great narrator
Enjoyed the book and narration. 👍
I liked it a lot I especially like no commercials❤

Look up series A Lincoln lawyer audiobooks (I,II,III)

Is this good? Yes or no?!
Very good all of his books are great. Especially when Harry Bosch are in them. Another writer that's great is jd Nance
VERY GOOD. Thank you so very much...................
Peter Giles, narrator.
Great read.
The best thriller writer

They become less and less as you get thru the book.
I wonder if they cut the last five minutes off this upload. I mention this because another book upload by Michael Connelly had that done.
Thank you❤
I think I would have liked it, but ......Way too many ads. They hurt the flow. Story sounded good but I had to stop listening due to the ads.
Good story thanks
Love you
Why is blue considered anti- defendant ?
I think both lawyers used the same colors to code possible jurors for themselves, according to who they want and don’t want on the jury.
Why does the narrator pronounce the surname Haller ‘Holler’?
Good morning
So Bosch and Holler are half brothers...
Great
No such thing as Australian Cockney
The half brother revelation.
Wow ❤

Love the education that goes with his books, learned a lot reading his books.
That is not an english accent. Of any social group. It is Australian Cockney!

The book would have been great, if not for very long AD's I could not finish listening!!!!
Well, that’s GoogleGreed for you. I am forced to watch ads to view my own videos that I posted years ago.
Purchase a Kindle for this no ads in the middle of stuff like this
COMMERCIALS
Ads make this unlistenable, too bad as Connelly is a good storyteller. Is it greed? He must be so wealthy selling endless books. WHY?

Absolutely dreadful- no characterisation, no description, no development... try it, you might like it, but I sure didn't.
It might help if you'd read the earlier books in the two series (Bosch & Holler).
Also sounds like you have taken a writing course

Listened to it quite contentedly. There was a tenseness in the relative lack of drama and the focus on text and talk.
Thank you 🇨🇦
