I remember listening to this video on repeat years ago, it was my motivation for playing flute. It still give me chills. It's so beautiful, I remember crying while listening to it. I was nice so see this again on my recommended and see that so many others have been loving it.

C'est tellement magnifique... Bravo! C'est musical, expressif, impressionnant, innovant, bref je suis fan à mort.
La partie de passage (0:55 à 1:10) qui reviens plus tard, comment vous dire, il y a pour moi des passages musicaux parfois, sur certains titres, qui transcendent l'âme, qui nous font presque toucher quelque chose de beaucoup plus grandiose, qui nous donnent le sentiment de perfection, qui nous propulsent vers un autre degré d'existence !!!

This very recording is my long long time favorite. Playing such a repetitive melody with such clever variations... It is not something one can do with just being a great instrumentalist. It requires mastership in musicianship. Yes, being an instrumentalist and being a musician are two very different subjects. And Erwan and Kevin combines these two ability in a level of such mastership to craft every little detail in every variation of this tune. All these nuances not only makes the listener feel like they are listening to a new melody on every repeat of the music sentences, and also make them listen over and over through the years without boredom and give them the opportunity of discovering a new detail and make them surprised every single time. On behalf of the every single listener, thank you guys so much for healing our souls with your creation. Please play more and create more!

I think the reason why people might dislike this is because it's very jazzy and not as traditional as some might like maybe? I think it's mind blowing though. Definitely wouldn't give it a thumbs down anyway. This guy is on a different level

What do those who have given a thumbs down not like about this? My main comment is that I am surprised that there seems to be no acknowledgement of the beauty of the cittern in the overall sound. I would also say that compositionally the piece is fairly simple - what people are hearing is performing virtuosity, not compositional complexity. In that area I would echo one comment below, that more sections to the piece would be a good development. The complexity at the moment is in the continuous variation on the flute, which is very effective and beautiful. It is very listenable music ... it's the cittern that I want to go and try now! Thanks for posting and sharing :)
The piece has about 60 measures in it before it repeats. That is actually quite a few for what I would call Celtic music.

The attention to detail in the flute playing is incredible, all the little slides, small intonation tweaks and dynamic changes make the playing absolutely captivating.
Such amazing playing it makes me want to sell my boehm flute and get something like this haha
I love my Irish flute but frankly my boehm flute is easier to play and has better projection
@@davidvincent380 Can I ask you which flute you are playing with? One irish flute is not another one, considering its a handcrafted instrument, there is a lot of variation between them. Not to mention the differences between Rudall&Rose or Pratten Style.
