I'm glad someone else had lots of fit issues, lots of putty and lots of sanding, I certainly did too. None of the tabs on the wings or tail fit without trimming and filing. Another thing the cockpit is missing are the tubes on either side of the headrest that are telescoping stabilizers. Wish I would have thought to do the instrument decals individually.
Order of solutions is setter then softer. Mr. Mark Setter has an adhesive quality, so it may not have been the best choice for relatively large decals that would need to be moved around a lot to get the right placement as opposed to something like MicroSet.
That's cool, I didn't know there was an associated paint kit. I'm usually too cheap for those, but occasionally I'll splash out on one. Recently I was considering getting a paint kit for Russian subs, but I then found out that the special color for Russian subs was "black"! You'll probably get better results with the set though. I was basically guessing the closest shade. Let me know how it comes out!
@@professorbellbuilds Look at photos of surfaced subs they are a blackish gray due to being out in the sun and the salt water. And painting it all totally black would really play heck with your digital camera. I did that once years ago with a LA Class sub and the flat black really made it hard for the camera to focus but once I changed it to Nato Black the pictures came out better.
I don't think I've done enough modern aircraft to notice. I thought the ordinance came out very well on this one, but I'm not so sure about the quality of the rest of the kit. . .
I wonder if the flimsy plastic has to do with them being at war and still putting kits out. When i purchased this kit part of the money was donated to the Ukraine strugle . I think it was posted on front the kit next to there plag print.
Despite the issues you made a good looking Mig! Most decal solutions usually start with the setting solution and then the softener. Because after you use the setting solution you add the softener to make the decals snug down into all of the details! I don't usually like voice over videos! I normally turn down the volume if it is something I really want to see! But, you did good! I like your voice!!
Thank you! I've actually been practicing that voice for more than 30 years now! Thanks also for letting me know about the solutions. It makes sense, but for whatever reason I wasn't thinking.
You may be right. I guess I'll just have to build the Italeri one too just to be sure! Actually, Italeri's kit with the polish version looks pretty cool. . . and who doesn't like Polish stuff!
Okay, you may think it's a legend, but nevertheless, Ukrainian pilots on their old MiG-29s imposed a fight against the Russian russian air force, who had not only a numerical advantage, but also a qualitative one, the Russian aviation mainly consisted of modern aircraft, while the Ukrainians fought on MiG-29s, most of which were about 30 years old. And by the way, the ghost of Kyiv is not just one pilot, as it was thought at first, it is the all 40th Tactical Aviation Squadron.
The major reason for the poor quality of this model is that it was a rush design & rushed into production. If you notice, it states proceeds benefit the Ukrainian war effort.
What do you mean! It's on my shelf right now!😉 I know. The official line is that the ghost of Kiev is a symbol of the Ukrainian fighting spirit. In any case, the mig-29 is real, and I like the digital pattern the Ukrainians put on theirs. I'd actually like to do an su-57 for much the same reason.
@@professorbellbuilds nah, plane is a mig 29,it is really was, but pilot, what named Ghost of Kiev is fake, he isnt real. So your model is very beatiful, i like it!

No bro, no way, Ukraine will get only a few squadrons of F-16s, while Ukraine has about 100 MiG-29s (units, not squadrons)). I am sure that Ukraine will definitely not give up the MiG-29 until the end of the war. After the war, they might, but it will depend on the outcome of the war. For example, if Russia simply withdraws its troops, but they keep the president they have now, and in general Russia remains as it is now, then Ukraine will not give up any weapons. And if Russia disintegrates into many small states, then I think these planes will go to museums and storage facilities, and Ukraine will switch to F-16s.

It was quite a job! I've heard ICM makes some good kits, so maybe this one is the exception?

I have always used micro set and micro sol sets the decals right down in the panel lines and rivet.
I use those too! I've actually collected a wide assortment of decal solutions, mostly to try to combat the old academy decals!
I noticed if you get thin fins on rockets and bombs it normally a nicer kit.

No, that's just the styrene they use and have used for years. Very similar to the soft, soapy Airfix stuff.

Ghost of Kiev. More utter Unicorn fantasy that never existed.
It was good moral booster that Ukraine needed in the earlier days of the war.
